Actually Penny Marshall made one of the great baseball movies of all time in A League of Their Own. Amazingly it didn't have to bash men to be a great movie.

Well, everyone shows what they have. She isn't really a looker, but has amazing knockers - which she is well aware of and pushes them forward while she has them. When if not now? There was never a problem with women sexualizing themselves, if that is the only thing they have going for them. The problem started when the same women were being angry at men for accepting at face value what they have been offered. You will never hear a prostitute being angry because you look at her as a sexual object - she knows what she sells, she does not have anything else to offer on the market, and she is well aware of that. As long as you take it at face value and are not a prick about it, they don't mind.
For some reason, certain women do advertise more boldly than brothel chicks in Amsterdam or Zurich, and then get surprised and offended when you value them as such.
As one of my friends, beautiful and with great body (on pair with Sweeney) once said while we were commenting on how women behave and dress... she was always fully covered, wore turtlenecks etc. "Good merchandise does not need advertisement. Only the poor product needs an expensive ad." She was referring to skimpy clothing and oversexualizing parts of female anatomy. And she is a mathematician - has brains to go with the body.

The actors have hugely inflated egos, which is primarily the fault of the media which surrounds Hollywood AND the audience who take anything actors say seriously.
Before the 1970s it was extremely rare for any actor to take a public stand on political issues.
Here's a great quote from Cary Grant on that topic:
"I'm opposed to actors taking sides in public and spouting spontaneously about love, religion or politics. We aren't experts on these subjects. Personally I'm a mass of inconsistencies when it comes to politics. My opinions are constantly changing. That's why I don't ever take a public stand on issues."

My wife loved top gun Maverick. She said it was just a good sold film, had girls in there but wasn't pushed to the forward position and made to look better then the lads, everyone was treated normally like in real life.
We used to go to the movies and sit there for 1.5hrs and forget the world for that time, now you cant sit down to watch a movie without being bombarded with “the message” it’s exhausting.
They do it with kids movies too. I took my niece and nephews to see the Disney Pixar film "Elemental" and they were bored out of their minds. They didn't act like that when we saw the second "Minions" movie (not a Disney production). They were laughing and bouncing in their seats.
Agreed 💯 that's the main reason I quit going to movies why get up get dressed & hop in my car burn out my gas get to the theater pay my money to get preached to about 💩 what a waste
the vegetable mode of watching Hollywood is how we got brainwashed to the situation we're in right now. we're all not without guilt for what happened to us.

I think millions of women loved Barbie for the nostalgia of playing with Barbie themselves or playing with Barbie alongside their daughters. I did and my daughter did! I'm not a feminist and avoided the film for awhile thinking it would be too preachy. It was colorful and happy (mostly) and funny. America Ferera's speech on being a modern woman was RIGHT ON, but I largely didn't pay attention to the "patriarchy" nonsense. It was fun!!! 😊
That was an amazing talk show. Loved every discussion and also the catfights and reliving the historic movies.

Remember: Star Wars lost to Annie Hall at the Oscars. What movie do you think has sold the most copies for home viewing? You can tell what is a great movie by how long it is remembered and continues to be watched and enjoyed. Do ANY of you own a copy of "Leaving Las Vegas" in your movie collection? It won for best picture but I have never understood how! The Hollywood elites have always looked down on their audience.
Drinker and Gary are movin' up for sure, being on a show like this. No doubt it had something to do with Gary finally hitting 1M subscribers, so congrats to him. Rocky Balboa was an amazing film, and that speech really was something else. For me, it's actually Rocky IV. Those 2 guys beat the shit outta each other, and it was, of course, America vs. Russia during the height of the Cold War, so extremely relevant for the time. Oh, and R.I.P. Carl Weathers.

I haven’t paid any attention to the Oscars since Saving Private Ryan lost Best Picture to Shakespeare In Love way back in the day. My mindset is: if you like something, to hell with what anyone else thinks. I don’t care what a bunch of out-of-touch geriatrics think constitutes a good film.
Barbie appealed to it's core audience, nothing wrong with that but in the same way you can't then say it deserves to be awarded for an award where it's universally loved. Critical Drinker said it best.

I’ve been watching Nerdrotic and Drinker since their beginnings, they were the only ones speaking about what a big part of fandom was thinking regarding the terrible mistreatment Disney had over Star Wars. Disney’s response was not to bring us to the conversation, but to call us toxic. I am glad to see them now, 8 years later, engaging in this sort of conversations.
