As the sun gets lower in the sky, my heat and light change. Over the time I have been here, this means I have a short growing season and adjustments have had to be made. The, A "Genus Spotlight".

I too notice the longer nights - Mojo doesn't start to 'fuss' until daybreak and that's getting later each day. Also, I need to turn the light on to go to bed now.

Years ago, during a video you were filming you heard a plane flying overhead and then suddenly you went into a complete side-chat all about fighter jets. It was so interesting! I asked you months later about what type of jet you were discussing, but you didn't remember... Well, today you gave another informative plane and fighter jet recap:)
Yes, Orchids haven't been as popular lately as some other indoor plants. Hoyas are insanely hugely popular - I've gotten into them over the past couple of years and they now dominate my plant collection. I've found them more robust, easy to care for, they don't get as many pest issues for me, very drought tolerant AND endlessly fascinating. Many varieties/species are very compact as well, if space is an issue.
I think the fact you can readily propagate them from stem cuttings has greatly added to their appeal and is the game changer (and it's become big business for small hobbyist growers).

I've always been interested in the fast jets but there are so few now - Hawk, Typhoon and F35 and the Americans have F15s based here and that's really 'it'.

heat will go down a little bit during winter but light will come back again when the sun drops. I think I only have two months without any direct light, end of January the sun will peak above the roof line and the season starts again. (I had a video about just this subject ready to go)

I only get that extra light and heat for the 4 middle months of the Summer. All the rest of the time, the light is still good but I don't get much heat and in the Winter it will cost quite a bit to heat it. This Winter, I'm setting the thermostat to 13C instead of 15C to save some costs.

I may not bother with the lights this year - they didn't seem to make much difference.

I was wondering about Helvetia, what if you repot it into a shorter pot where there is not so much media? Perhaps then it won’t stay wet that long…just a thought.

It needs a pot and mix that dry quicker. I will get on to it this week sometime.
