In Australia they won't allow you to claim child support benefits and health care benefits if you are not PR or citizen. You need to pay for your health insurance separately.

I am torn between two things currently as an international student yes when you are here you realize the system has been abused by certain individuals but there is also people that genuinely want to do the things the right way (respect the culture, the people, the laws, etc). What canada did in 2021 and 2022 was to bring workers who paid for the "priviledge" of studying and work. Canada already has a rotten bone for healthcare but did and actually doesnt allow those trained broad to cover that gap. Canada' housing bubble inflated when people decided to sell their houses for "retirement" money, to profit from the price increase. most rental places don't even fix their rotten pipes but still "update" their rent price to the highest. Profit, profit, profit. So, since student aka trained people that are no longer usable and voiceless they can dispose of them. Students are educated, trained, experienced people, and yes, sometimes have more knowledge than canadians because are coming from diverse markets, exposed to different cultures, language and so. Seems canadians dont realize the sacrifice, monetary, mental and emotional it is to be abroad, away from your country to in the end receive more and more "go home" and even racism. Are you sure about your Australia comment? After studies, international students can get temporary graduate visa from 2 to 4 years. During that time they can apply for Permanent residence visa. I live in Australia as well.

Hi! I am a master’s student at SFU and to my understanding what they meant with the PGWP about the field of study only applies to colleges, if you are doing your masters or phd in a university the only change that applies is the language proficiency.
They haven't until now made any changes to the students in master's but this time the spousal work permit thing even applied to masters. The trend is seriously going against international students.
That’s true, but I think this government should focus more on cutting interest rates now that inflation is down to 2%. I finished my undergrad (as an international student in CS), and practically no new grad jobs in tech. PGWP or any work permits limitations are primarily for PR seekers from Diploma mills, but surely these changes won’t mean sh*t if there are no jobs and everyone starts attacking international students again (smh)

Most of these students are limited to working part time at 24 hours per week. Most of them earn minimum wage ranging from $14 to $19 per hour. After taxes and living expense, I think these students are in the net negative. I think most of them are still being financially supported by their parents, relatives, loans ..etc.
@@TienTran-oh8dn I think I should explain it bit more broadly. Even though the study permit is for 2 years, most students were getting 3 year PGWP. A total of 5 years. During the PGWP years they can work unlimited hours plus many were getting more than minimum wage you have mentioned. How do you think the students came from Philippines, India and Africa paying of their bank loans in their native countries? Maybe winning a lottery? No they send money from Canada to respective home countries. So when the foreign students contribute X number of dollars to Canada, there is a bigger drainage from Canada to the other side. Why all the foreign students are upset now? The prospect of losing 3 year PGWP. Their bank loans are still active whether they get PGWP or not.

For revenue, lets start the calculations at the PGWP stage. The medium income in Canada for 2024 is approximately $44,000 per year. We can take this number and apply that and say international students earn on average $44,000 per year. So, a 3 year PGWP would equal to $132,000 in total personal income. Now, lets look at the cost side of things. Tuition on average costs $20,000 per year ($40,000 for a 2 year program). Living cost for a single person cost on average $25,000 per year ($125,000 total for 2 year of studies and 3 year PGWP). Living cost includes rent, food, utilities and miscellaneous cost. Lets just take the personal income tax rate of 35% ($15,400 per year or $46,200 for 3 years PGWP). Total cost is $180,400. In conclusion, the international student is making a net negative of $48,400. So, it is more likely that the student is unable to send any money back home.

It's about time the government started giving Canada back to ACTUAL Canadians. The International Student Program was never meant to be an immigration pathway. This was even stated by minister Marc Miller; it is not my opinion. Every study permit also include a legal agreement saying you must return home after studies. So if you "studied" here with the actual intent to immigrate, then you were lying to CBSA. I don't understand the sympathy movement towards intl students. If you are upset because you can no longer get PR, then you are admitting you were trying to abuse this "student pathway" loophole. If you got caught in the middle of the recent changes, then tough luck, but the loophole abuse has to end at some point. Again, it is not intended to be an immigration method. If you want to blame someone, blame all those youtubers/tiktokers who made content about "Become Canadian just by being a student!", when in reality they were just abusing a loophole this whole time. Canadians and the Canadian government don't owe temporary residents anything.
I want to address to your statement, "if you "studied" here with actual intent to immigrate, then you were lying to CBSA." Your given statement is not correct in Canadian immigration policy or law. Temporary residence, such as international students, are permitted to have dual intent. Meaning, they can have an intention to stay in Canada temporarily and eventually have an intention for permanent residence. You can find this law at section 22(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Can you please clarify what you mean by studying in Canada is a loophole to getting permanent residency?
Canadian immigration law explicitly allows for dual intent, but it requires applicants to demonstrate that they will comply with the conditions of their temporary stay (i.e., as a student) if their application for permanent residence is unsuccessful.

These were necessary changes. Canada cannot bring in 1 million + people into the country when the supply chains and the workforce have the ability to build 200k homes every year. Why bring in a lot of students only to have to tell them to go back? Those who do well should be able to become permanent residents eventually. For that to be possible, the number of students coming in has to be manageable.

Generally speaking, business administration is quite a popular program. Because of this popularity, there will be many business admin graduates. So just imagine the large number of business admin students looking for the jobs after graduation. With that said, I don't imagine the government adding business admin to the list of long-term occupation shortage. Given changing political environment on immigration policies, its best to be flexible and adapt to change.

Do you know you are an illiterate, don’t you? The university where I study, international students pay approximately $300 per semester for the health insurance, but it doesn’t cover everything. If they need a dental care, they have to pay from their own pocket. If they need a surgery, they have to pay from their own fund. One of my friend needed a surgery so he flew back to his country, got his surgery done and came back, and he saved around $1000 than the cost to that would have been in Canada. I’m thinking to visit his country and get my next treatment done because it costs 1/4 of the cost what would be in Canada, also way less time. Learn something about the world, retard.

International students pay a monthly premium for the insurance. You can't blame Canadian companies for hiring much educated and more experienced individuals than getting someone that only finished high school.🤷♂️
Students pay for private insurance here in Manitoba. I don't know about other provinces. But students here don't qualify for public insurance. And students contribute over $20 billion, not millions

The government is definitely closing the student to PR pathway, the long term economic impact they'll create is increased college & university tuition fees for Canadians and permanent residents, which will lead to more affordability and labour shortage issues. This will not put a dent on housing affordability, more government scrutiny and media coverage needs to be placed on the lack of housing starts. If there is so much housing demand, why are housing starts not keeping up? Home developers should see this as an opportunity, there must be some government red tape at play that needs to be addressed.
I agree! When demand for a product outpace supply, this usually pushes up price. When rental and home prices goes up, this signals to developers and home builders that there is an opportunity to profit. However, when government red tap and taxes get in the way, this inevitably slows down progress. I think most Canadians would rather point the finger at the international students (demand side) as opposed to blaming the government for their failure by not creating more homes (supply side).
In 2022 and 2023, Canada brought in around 1 million new people in both permanent and temporary streams. The US also brings in 1 million people per year. The difference? The US has a population that is 10x Canada. The issue is absolutely on the demand side, not the supply side. Because there is no reason a country with 40M population should be bringing in the same amount of people per year as a country with 340M population. You can't build your way out of such a huge deficit.
If it's all on the demand side, then why do Americans have the same sentiment about home ownership being unattainable as Canadians? The US has it's own housing affordability issues with it's "0.3%" immigration rate. That's points to a systematic supply issue. In the US, it costs home developers almost twice as much to get their engineering plans checked & approved by local governments than it cost to engineer the development itself. That's just one sample of wasteful bureaucracy that get's passed to the consumer. That's a reason why developers in the US aren't building homes for first time homebuyers, there's no profit in it, instead they build homes only wealthy people can afford.

Wastewater systems, roads, and hospitals take years/decades to build. It is VERY easy to say "just build more" or "just cut red tape". Not to mention Canada's job market can't even employ its own citizens. The job market is another factor that you can't just say "Just make more jobs". To clarify, this statement applies to public college graduates and the condition is, you must have graduated from a field of study linked to occupations in long term shortages OR from a certain program level (there needs to be clarification on which of the two is it) So the statement "will only be eligible..." is a precondition. You did not subtract the amount international students sending back to their home country banks to pay off the loans and more.

@@TienTran-oh8dn I think I should explain it bit more broadly. Even though the study permit is for 2 years, most students were getting 3 year PGWP. A total of 5 years. During the PGWP years they can work unlimited hours plus many were getting more than minimum wage you have mentioned.
How do you think the students came from Philippines, India and Africa paying of their bank loans in their native countries? Maybe winning a lottery? No they send money from Canada to respective home countries.
So when the foreign students contribute X number of dollars to Canada, there is a bigger drainage from Canada to the other side.
Why all the foreign students are upset now? The prospect of losing 3 year PGWP. Their bank loans are still active whether they get PGWP or not.

For revenue, lets start the calculations at the PGWP stage. The medium income in Canada for 2024 is approximately $44,000 per year. We can take this number and apply that and say international students earn on average $44,000 per year. So, a 3 year PGWP would equal to $132,000 in total personal income.
Now, lets look at the cost side of things. Tuition on average costs $20,000 per year ($40,000 for a 2 year program). Living cost for a single person cost on average $25,000 per year ($125,000 total for 2 year of studies and 3 year PGWP). Living cost includes rent, food, utilities and miscellaneous cost. Lets just take the personal income tax rate of 35% ($15,400 per year or $46,200 for 3 years PGWP). Total cost is $180,400.
In conclusion, the international student is making a net negative of $48,400. So, it is more likely that the student is unable to send any money back home.

International students and temporary foreign workers have been heavily favoured by the Trudeau government for far too long. Canadian citizens and permanent residents should ALWAYS get first dibs on jobs and housing in Canada.
As an international student, I 100% agree to this, if I ever in future become a PR or Citizen I would want my government to favor me and priortize me over Temporary workers and International students.

For those who commented out in this channel, I advice you to think first! For the mere fact that Canada allows foreign students means, Canada Profit from it! True. Problem is , That's all they see from foreign students, yet most of these foreign students bring bigger money once they contribute to Canada. Learn from other countries mistakes, See USA, they allowed this and but got greedy and now some of there local workers are too entitled. The International Student Program was never meant to be an immigration pathway. This was even stated by minister Marc Miller; it is not my opinion. Every study permit also include a legal agreement saying you must return home after studies. So if you "studied" here with the actual intent to immigrate, then you were lying to CBSA.
I don't understand the sympathy movement towards intl students. If you are upset because you can no longer get PR, then you are admitting you were trying to abuse this "student pathway" loophole. If you got caught in the middle of the recent changes, then tough luck, but the loophole abuse has to end at some point. Again, it is not intended to be an immigration method.

Temporary residence, such as international students, are permitted to have dual intent. Meaning, they can have an intention to stay in Canada temporarily and eventually have an intention for permanent residence. You can find this law at section 22(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

These were necessary changes. Canada cannot bring in 1 million + people into the country when the supply chains and the workforce have the ability to build 200k homes every year. Why bring in a lot of students only to have to tell them to go back? Those who do well should be able to become permanent residents eventually. For that to be possible, the number of students coming in has to be manageable.

Until now they have left the master's students alone, any trade, education or skill set needed in the economy or that has high chance of contributing to the economy are likely to be left alone and master's students do prove to be of value so yea they're not gonna touch you guys.

Generally speaking, business administration is quite a popular program. Because of this popularity, there will be many business admin graduates. So just imagine the large number of business admin students looking for the jobs after graduation. With that said, I don't imagine the government adding business admin to the list of long-term occupation shortage.
Given changing political environment on immigration policies, its best to be flexible and adapt to change.

The university where I study, international students pay approximately $300 per semester for the health insurance, but it doesn’t cover everything. If they need a dental care, they have to pay from their own pocket. If they need a surgery, they have to pay from their own fund. One of my friend needed a surgery so he flew back to his country, got his surgery done and came back, and he saved around $1000 than the cost to that would have been in Canada.
I’m thinking to visit his country and get my next treatment done because it costs 1/4 of the cost what would be in Canada, also way less time. Learn something about the world, retard.

Students pay for private insurance here in Manitoba. I don't know about other provinces. But students here don't qualify for public insurance. And students contribute over $20 billion, not millions

The government is definitely closing the student to PR pathway, the long term economic impact they'll create is increased college & university tuition fees for Canadians and permanent residents, which will lead to more affordability and labour shortage issues. This will not put a dent on housing affordability, more government scrutiny and media coverage needs to be placed on the lack of housing starts. If there is so much housing demand, why are housing starts not keeping up? Home developers should see this as an opportunity, there must be some government red tape at play that needs to be addressed.
I agree! When demand for a product outpace supply, this usually pushes up price. When rental and home prices goes up, this signals to developers and home builders that there is an opportunity to profit. However, when government red tap and taxes get in the way, this inevitably slows down progress.
I think most Canadians would rather point the finger at the international students (demand side) as opposed to blaming the government for their failure by not creating more homes (supply side).
In 2022 and 2023, Canada brought in around 1 million new people in both permanent and temporary streams. The US also brings in 1 million people per year. The difference? The US has a population that is 10x Canada.
The issue is absolutely on the demand side, not the supply side. Because there is no reason a country with 40M population should be bringing in the same amount of people per year as a country with 340M population. You can't build your way out of such a huge deficit.
If it's all on the demand side, then why do Americans have the same sentiment about home ownership being unattainable as Canadians? The US has it's own housing affordability issues with it's "0.3%" immigration rate. That's points to a systematic supply issue. In the US, it costs home developers almost twice as much to get their engineering plans checked & approved by local governments than it cost to engineer the development itself. That's just one sample of wasteful bureaucracy that get's passed to the consumer. That's a reason why developers in the US aren't building homes for first time homebuyers, there's no profit in it, instead they build homes only wealthy people can afford.
@@jgarcia65348 Yes it is on demand side. Can we make improvements to supply side? Absolutely and the Canadian government should. But I hope you know how absurd it is for a country of 40M to bring in 1M people per year, when Canada is already in a housing deficit even before the 1M people/year started. That is the same as the US bringing 16M immigrants per year if you equate the per capita population.
And it isn't just housing. It's all infrastructure. Wastewater systems, roads, and hospitals take years/decades to build. It is VERY easy to say "just build more" or "just cut red tape". But the reality is that these things have to be built first before a huge population boom, not the other way around. And it takes many years.
Not to mention Canada's job market can't even employ its own citizens. The job market is another factor that you can't just say "Just make more jobs". You want to shove hundreds of thousands of new immigrants in every year just so they can be unemployed? It's already happening in fact.

To clarify, this statement applies to public college graduates and the condition is, you must have graduated from a field of study linked to occupations in long term shortages OR from a certain program level (there needs to be clarification on which of the two is it)
So the statement "will only be eligible..." is a precondition.
