    LYRICS:
IVE BEEN WORKING ON THE RAILROAD
    1. I've been working on the railroad. All the live long day. I've been working on the rail road, just to pass the time away. Can't you hear the whistle blowing? Rise up so early in the morn! Can't you hear the captain shouting? Dinah, blow your horn! Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah won't you blow your horn? Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah won't you blow your horn? Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, someone's in the kitchen, I know! Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, strumming on the old banjo. Fee fi fiddley aye, oh! Fee fi fiddley aye, oh- Fee fi fiddley aye, oh! Strumming the old ban-jo!

+Stephen King - I actually did know that. There are a few other verses that were added around the late 1800's that I could never dare sing and wished I had not learned of because I used to love this song. Dinah is a woman's name however, and that particular chorus was written much earlier than the rest of the song during a time when Dinah was used as an endearing term for any maidservant or woman of the house, not just a slave.

    • @cjmiller6741
      @cjmiller6741 8 лет назад +3

+Stephen King - like, I kind of have a thing for folk music. I think in the early seventies if folk or country music had not been so establishment oriented and punk music not relegated to being young peoples music, and seeing that the best punk musicians came from small grassroots towns, Folk Punk could have been a standard merging of two genres of music. Linda Ronstadt and Elvis Costello kind of conceived it later, as punk was mellowed into California New Wave in the later half of the 70's. (sorry, I am a passionate lyricist with a voice that wispers a scream)

I sung this in my 1st grade class. I had to reach all the way back in my repressed memories just to get one word from this song to Google "nursery rhyme about railroads" lmao

Wooow! I've been working on a dish line,
    all the live long day.
I've been working on a dish line,
just to scrape the scraps away.
Can you hear the washer running
    cleaning the plates happily?
Can you hear the bus boy singing:
    Take those scrapes from me?

    TRADUCCION:
Cara al sol con la camisa nueva
que tú bordaste en rojo ayer,
me hallará la muerte si me lleva
y no te vuelvo a ver.
    Formaré junto a mis compañeros
    Arriba escuadras a vencer
que en España empieza a amanecer
