This was so fun to watch! I used to enjoy watching people actually excavating for gems/crystals but got so tired of the scammers 'finding' perfectly cut and polished stones! It was sad to see all these comments by people who didn't know better, BUT, they also do it on purpose because they know they'll get tons of views and comments calling them out on it and people don't realize that the comments add to the algorithm of their channels success, as well. So, thank you again. I'm hooked on watching, listening and learning all you share! 💎
The black podge in it actually gives it a beautiful character! We actually got to take our opal rough to a Rockhound group that has a lapidary and we got to join the group And they taught us how to use the lapidary and I even remembered to use stuff I learned from you too🤗😁
Most Beautiful opal I Have ever seen! My grandmother married a famous weaver from England( has Phoenix Tapestry) in Smithsonian .They went to Australia Opal hunting on honeymoon. Cannot remember where , funny named place. Grammy found a rather nice sized one, not a black- had it cut an mounted . Its in my safe deposit box at the bank. Yours was absolutely stunning, gorgeous! Im afraid to wear hers! She was almost 100 when we lost her, and her honeymoon was long long ago! So the stone is rather big but looks delicate. If that makes sense, but its opposite the black ! The black you just did is bold, looks strong . Nothing delicate about it just amazing color!! Thank you for what you do! Love watching !
That blue green with the crackle of black potch looks like a dragon's eye! That could be set so artistically...oh the options! ❤️ This live was so satisfying to watch. Thank You for sharing your talent with us!
The first stone was magnificent. I loved the stone with the black running through it. You have a great sense of humor. I enjoy watching your vids. Thanks for sharing . 😊
I love the pattern of that last stone, it's beautiful depth can only be matched by the depth of Tameka's beauty....fantastic stones and great humour throughout .
You are such a hoot! I e watched you off and on for several years and you scared me to death watching you cut off all the color! I had never seen anyone cut opals before. I just watched the one that turned out to be a $15,000 stone and you were admiring your work and then, right there in front of god and all of us you dropped it!!! I Fortunately it was okay! I was so impressed that you left that in the video! I love watching you, you have an incredible gift, thank you for sharing it with us and your human side too!!🌺💜🌼💚
This is my first subscription. Your show is so entertaining and informative. I can watch for hours and wind up staying up way past my bed time. Can't wait for more of the opals coming alive.
"That's what she said" 😆 🤣 😂 I about fell outta my chair. Good one Tameka!! Was in on live but missed the first 20 min or so. Gorgeous gem, all that pinfire and so large, wow!!🤯
Sorry I missed you today. The live was on during class, and I hear that's kind of important for my future, or something. I really enjoyed watching the recording, it made the perfect break from school work! Thank you, Justin!
This was 1 yr ago. I haven’t seen this Justin ! Fun to see you work on such a big beautiful opal! Fun to see you working in the old shop as well. Thank you😊
Hi, just a thought could you put the grade of wheel just above the wheels, so us who can only watch what you are doing would have a better understanding of what and how you achieve the wonderful work that you do.
I just subscribed, am very interested to see what I can learn from you. I used to do business with the mine (Cooler Pedy directly). I learned how to cut opal back then, 1982, from my late husband who did custom gold and silversmithing.
Been around stone cutting on an off all my life, an for last few generations family had made the Tucson show, your cutting skills are great an you have mastered reading an getting the best possible gem from the stone, your also a good man , you would not let a stone go out without passing your standards . God bless a thanks, got a kick mom still has the fist bit of Australian opal with a small flash of color send a picture someday, Beautiful black an thank you , I can't cut like I use to yet , but hope to hear the hum of the 8" wheels soon again , I really appreciate an enjoy watching your work.
It's an honor sir. Greetings from San Antonio, Texas.....lm always grateful when you release a new segment, and when a "new to me segment" shows on my board from Justin, you and yours. It's the one time I can let my guard down and relax and enjoy. No concerns for anything other a man and his family show the utter goodness of peoples' skills are the backbone of any healthy community . By using your talent s demonstrating "added value" direct application, ,I think will pay dividends far beyond the surreal. You remind me of Americans of yesteryear, for which I'm nostalgic....thank you
If I knew you guys were streaming I would have watched live! I love you guys! Been watching for about a year now and I can't wait to find my first opal to wear!
Absolutely loved this live show, wish I’d have been a part of it when it happened, but being able to see it now…. Still very satisfying. So many surprises, especially that last little gem. How it just sort of popped out right in the nick of time ! Saawweeet !
Oh what a beauty! I am imagining how gorgeous it will be when you get her polished....here we go! Personally I really enjoy watching you go through the entire process Justin. Oh that little jelly bean was a knock out! I love the colors! I do love crystal opals. And I actually love the blue stones with the blue floaters too even though they are not valued much. I guess I've never seen an opal I didn't like huh? Thank you for sharing so much with us! I can't wait to see your newest treasure.
that last flagstonepattern with all the colours is in my opinion the prettiest opal i have seen on all your videos...., including the element of surprise when then thin visible colourline contained all that inthere:), tnx upload again, hope to catch the next live live^^, grtz from Holland:)
I'm so glad I found you, your work is beyond stunning, you have put a fire in my belly, my partner and I have both been struggling with mental health and now we are both so excited to go on some fossicking adventures and have a go polishing ourselves, even if we don't greatly succeed the adventure is going to help us both so much Thank you for your awesome videos, a trip to lightning ridge is definitely on the cards for us
Great sense of humour Tameka, I also nearly fell off my chair, haven't heard that one in a while. Sorry had to watch after work, missed it live. Will settle in and watch the rest of the video now. Lol 😊
This was an incredible video. So many top quality gems in this one. Several of these were so good , they deserved their own full video. We had that stunning and magnificent 15 carat pin fire gem that started off the video. The color in that piece was amazing. Doesn't get much better than that, but my absolute favorite gem was that surprise piece near the end! Omg, the amazing and super colorful flagstone gem at the end of the video just blew my mind. I absolute loved it! It was a smaller gem, but my God, the color! So many beautiful colors. The reds and pinks, to oranges and yellows that were so nice when you moved the gem around, the beautiful turquoise and blue and violets and greens! It had absolutely everything I could possibly want in an opal, and the stone was a size that I might actually be able to afford! I'll be checking your website for that stone. I might just buy it if I am able to pull it off this month
I have enjoyed your channel SO much for many months now, and can only share my opinion that your hard work and investments are appreciated enormously, definitely worthy of a lovely celebration of the anniversary! Your generosity in sharing all you've learned is huge, but your sweet and spicy charisma is a delight as well. It's quite refreshing to have such a personal AND professional channel offering so much beauty and knowledge with transparent honesty, both in its production and personality. Keep it up :-) Thank you!
These videos are very addictive. I have been watching opal processing for 5 hours now, don't feel like stopping. Who will do the laundry and other chores? I am in trouble!
Lo ve your work. Gave up my lapping many years ago, but still miss the adventure of discovering the beauty in "rocks". Hahaha! Happy Thanksgiving from Houston, Tx
Wow, so beautiful. That last one almost looks like a honeycomb patter. I love the really big green blue with the black patch in it, it looks like lighting bolts or something, I actually really like that part of it. It gives it more character.
Its always so good when you treat us to a live video Justin. WOW what an amazing video it was. The big green blue gem you cut, looked like script pattern on the side?. Perhaps run a competition for a name to the best gem ever that you are going to reveal soon. I cant wait to see it. Thank you Black Opal Direct, its so good to hear you at work Justin. Eagerly awaiting the reveal....... Until then......
My names Stephanie, born in October with opal of course being my birthstone so I think I need the Stephanie ring on your website 😍 stunning pieces and gems! 😍
That last little one sure was a surprise, but a good surprise to offset some of the bad ones. You had a good session this time. So after all the risky gambling and the discussion of that last time, here you go with one already rubbed. You likely paid a lot more but the risk was very low. Still your finishing skills with edges, back and polish should have helped the bank because without that masterful work it was pretty and had potential. With your work it is a beauty and a piece of art. Well done and thanks for making the video. I have to say, you do have some real beauties where you are. Opals and ladies! Sure is easy on the eyes. And sassy too. Got a good laugh out of this dirty old man! Thanks for those laughs as well with the world such as it is right now.
I am really torn up now.....I don't know what I love more, watching opal coming out of the ground or the theatre of the cut and polish....the struggle is real!!!
Personally I much prefer a rich deep colour,I emeralds and aquas flashing fire over the black, blak looks like it has coloured confetti under a clear coat, just my choice but that is what makes life interesting, maybe you can convince me otherwise, me otherwise ,great work , all my life wanted to go fossiking for gems🎉 etc, 78 now can,t see that happening but it has been a great dream😅
Beautiful stone and outstanding color for sure. I will say the majority of stone is the black with sand spots, Razor-thin opal barely on top. How does that make it worth such a huge price tag? How many of those karats are actually the black/sand spots?
Tameka is a sparky lady. ;D Wish I was 25yrs younger. That Opal was stunning and well worth 50K. Should be set in a nice fine claw setting just for the reasons you said. That is part of the beauty of a true Opal that isn't a doublet or triplet. Regarding snipping the sand off that stone. It also saves your very expensive wheels.
I love the black lines in that large stone. I’m sure it devalues the price greatly, but damn it looks good. Wouldn’t mind if it had more of those lines.
Question. I think you already answered my question after I posted. Why is the potch sometimes left on the base and around the sides please of a solid opal? To show it is a genuine solid? I have a Coober Pedy 1.4ct milky oval stone purchased 20 years ago. Wondered why the thin potch on the base wasnt removed. It's not a doublet. Can you recommend a jeweler you use to set stones please?
I’ve used cerium but it don’t do as good as zirconia. I have microscopes both in the highest finest polish and zirconia left zero scratches. But when I cut my opals I go upto 3000 grit before I hit them on my final polish with and instead of using felt we used Buffalo hide here in New Mexico which also gives a very special luster no other felt wheel will put out. But for you cutting with just a 1200 and standard cerium I believe you did an amazing job. Well done
My first time to comment. I’m looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Good job you have coffee, lots of concentration here. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
These videos are very addictive. I have been watching opal videos for 5 house now, don't feel like stopping. Who will do the laundry and other chores now?
I love the black opals with more dominant solid color flashes. Especially a large red flash. This is a great opal but I would like less of a matrix with a dominant solid red flash. But still a nice mix of the rainbow in more solid patches
And remember any clipping with tongs is good clipping when you end up with the same numbers of body parts attached as before the clipping :) Same with sawing and grinding..
Hello, I was married to a rock hound for 30 years. He had all grinders you have. He passed away 2011..so glad I found you. It helps.
I hope your doing okay, just know this life isn't the end, it's the beginning :) youl see him again
Justin - the Ted Lasso of opals. Love your enthusiasm, honesty, and of course, bad dad jokes!
Haha I love that show

Love it when the stones have pretty inclusions. It makes the stone so much more dramatic. Love the black with the flashy colors!
That blue green with the crackle of black potch looks like a dragon's eye! That could be set so artistically...oh the options! ❤️ This live was so satisfying to watch. Thank You for sharing your talent with us!

Such a variety and very unique stones! That last one looked so unusual, small segments of color and with depth that make it look like columns.

Hello thank you for the great content. Are you going to cut the opal on the window ledge with the green potch ?
The green blue stone that has the black poch web lines would be great as a double sided stone even though it has black on the back as well
Hiya! I love the last one You were shaping..that is amazing! Holograph stone!

Definitely deserves a blackless bevel 😁👍 absolutely beautiful opals thanks for sharing and the last one was just stunning 👌
Perfect work and very beautiful black opal and large i love it , i have same this beautiful color but is Square and doublet of course 😄
I am really torn up now.....I don't know what I love more, watching opal coming out of the ground or the theatre of the cut and polish....the struggle is real!!!

Love to watch you work, thank you for sharing.

Thanks so much for teasing us...beautiful stone!

Howdy ! It’s Cheryl from Houston , TX. I love watching you making this beautiful Black Opal !!! You guys are amazing !!!

You should use your assistant to model some beautiful finished and polished opal jewelry!!🌟😏
I love the green blue with the black webbing line. Gorgeous 😍
Beautiful stone and outstanding color for sure. I will say the majority of stone is the black with sand spots, Razor-thin opal barely on top. How does that make it worth such a huge price tag? How many of those karats are actually the black/sand spots?
45:07 a future breathtaking gem is mentioned, is there a video showing this gem? Have been curious to see it. Love the channel by the way :)
What sure hands you have! Very cool polish of that huge thin opal!
Wow, that first opal is beautiful and the others were awesome to. Thank you Justin
Omg! The colors are fascinating !!
So cool so professional what a pleasant man..got me caught up watching for hours...loved it.
What a banger that things insane!!!! gorgeous cut and polish mate!
I stopped drinking coffee for a month but had to have one tonight ..... I've got to see this in my TV in HD now .
Tameka is a sparky lady. ;D Wish I was 25yrs younger. That Opal was stunning and well worth 50K. Should be set in a nice fine claw setting just for the reasons you said. That is part of the beauty of a true Opal that isn't a doublet or triplet.

I love the black lines in that large stone. I’m sure it devalues the price greatly, but damn it looks good. Wouldn’t mind if it had more of those lines.
Sorry I missed this but what a beautiful stone...wow! Love to you all at Black Opal Direct! Hugs, Susanne. 👋😊💎👍❤🥰🤗
Can you recommend a jeweler you use to set stones please?
really nice cut on this stone, despite the low dome the size of it adds up to a surprising curve and play of light 35:30
Welcome aboard!
That 15 carrat stone you just polished was brilliant and you said that you are moving where to?? I live on mid north coast nsw where are you??
Greetings from Tassie. I love watching you cut black opals
I love these colourful opals amazing
These videos are very addictive. I have been watching opal videos for 5 house now, don't feel like stopping. Who will do the laundry and other chores now?
I've been cutting better cabs since subscribing.
You're a master, brother.
I love the black opals with more dominant solid color flashes. Especially a large red flash. This is a great opal but I would like less of a matrix with a dominant solid red flash. But still a nice mix of the rainbow in more solid patches
And remember any clipping with tongs is good clipping when you end up with the same numbers of body parts attached as before the clipping :)
Same with sawing and grinding..
Very exciting video. Love the second to last stone most. The first could be Wolfgang's Nebula. The one with the black lightning is magic.
All winners tonight! I love the last surprise So colorful and the pattern reminds me of lizard skin
yes!
@@blackopaldirect Wouldn't that last opal be considered a Harlequin Opal? Amazing stone, considering you didn't have any faith in it! LOL
