Making abacus seeds is troublesome. Making Hakka 蒜粄 kueh is 5x more troublesome. Don't think you can buy this kueh in Singapore, have to go Malaysia to get them.
@Salty Egg Yes. My mother stops making 蒜粄 due to health issues. Luckily, we still keep the tradition of cooking lei cha, abacus seeds, yong tau fu and rice wine.
😂😂😂 A friend shared with us that Basmati rice is cooked that way so she might have made her rice the way her culture prepares it. Different from the way we would do it. :)

Thunder tea rice is special because every family has its own combination of toppings and ratios. The "authenticity" lies in the soup tea base. Awesome stuff i never get tired of it!
