I'm getting really tired of everything "needing" AI today. Every company under the sun is attempting to wrap it into their business model, even if it doesn't fit at all. I saw Quora is attempting to implement AI into their answer system as well to take away the need to *read* the user provided answers, and instead *read* the AI provided answers which is built using the user provided answers... Every day or week it's another "This development in AI" news that is driving me crazy. We don't need this much AI.
If you want some context aware AI camera stuff just buy the dang RayBans and wait until they turn that feature on. This pin is basically just some people that got too high while watching Star Trek:TNG and wanted to make a comm badge
"a camera, speaker and chatgpt - it's already in my phone" some people just love new hardware though. NES classic comes to mind. Many buyers already had two raspberry pis with emulators collecting dust and a console but just wanted that new separate device.
the full gpt4 model goes up to 32k context window, the 128k is nice but I don't think it's worth the downgrade in answer quality for most of my questions.
A camera pinned on your chest already exists. Gopro. I wear it while skiing, forget to turn it off and end up filming my entire lunch.😂 I guess if it could tell me how many calories was in my goulash that could be a novelty. Maybe once in a while I wish I could do a Black Mirror and record everything, and a year later I would have an AI find all instances of when someone was wrong in an argument.
I think you can get those weather stations with clocks that project the information on a wall with lasers from stores. Why not just get one of those for $5 and tape it on your forehead?
My biggest issue with the Humane AI pin is how to deliver audio only to me without using headphones/ ear buds. If they could figure that out it would actually probably be useful for me. Until then it is just a gimmick. I am still interested in it and if they go half price will probably pick one up.
A lot of form factors appeared before the black mirror that an iPhone is. Eventually someone will figure out the most effective form factor. And it'll eat the entire market.
That would be a wickid series: LINUS AI, could use ltt forum and the ltt labs to make an wholesome gaming/tech related/ meme/ and some segway to our sponsor (DBrand?) AI... Oh not forget the quickbit!....
The AI pin for voice commands is such a compromise. Since you have to tap it and it's not always listening it'll be used less than a smart speaker. It's more like Siri on your phone.
I obviously only need to be about 10 years older than Linus to remember that audiophiles paid such prices for good speakers decades ago and the acceptance of mostly bad small quacking speakers strikes me as strange.
lol timestamp around 22:20 “my phone does this already” -> throwback to people before having a phone that did everything. “i already have a rolodex and a calculator why do i need a phone that does both and also plays music” lmao this is niche product but it’s not terrible. i could see something like this catching on with a niche crowd in just a few years
So... Real talk, I like the form factor of the pin. The projector thing is a decade old or more and was done by some MIT students cheaper than this. Would I buy one for $500 CAD and no subscription? Possibly. I do believe it's a first gen failure, but this is where human/computer interfacing is going. My problem with the pin though is.... I'm a turbo nerd. I have a rack server, host AI programs, crunch crypto, have gigabit internet... Let me use my own hardware. Stop hating self hosting, you useless tech bros. I don't want a subscription. I just want a projector pocket projector that lets me ask my home assistant or ACTUALLY OPEN AI project questions and get results.
Apple employees know how overpriced their products are on BoM, so they know people will overpay if it's trendy and hipster. They fail to recognize the brand power Apple brings to the table, then they go make an Apple product that Apple can't or won't make. Then it flops or ends up being super niche.
I love the idea here. I dont love that it has to be its own device with its own data connection required. 8:30, whew! I thought you were going to talk about your Billet Labs review fiasco for a second. 😮 That’s definitely a place you were wrong. Then you pulled out the hp to clarify you weren’t talking about it again. 😂
I don’t speak on behalf of all turbo-nerds out there because speaking isn’t really our thing anyway. I am however confident that many others also consider Dan to be a part of our Pantheon.
The pin is basically a starfleet communicator, but different enough so they can't get sued over it.
Linus is trying to tell us that he likes LG Wing
More pointless e-waste. Just what we need.
That AI pin is just the Apple Brooch from Big Mouth, they took a parody of an idea and made it a real product wtf.
Many buyers already had two raspberry pis with emulators collecting dust and a console but just wanted that new separate device.
also gpt-4-turbo is mostlikely still training, its not even a finished product yet
the full gpt4 model goes up to 32k context window, the 128k is nice but I don't think it's worth the downgrade in answer quality for most of my questions.
projectors don't work in daylight, that its Achilles heal
This video becomes gold if AI pin blows up and launches the new era lmao😂
Let's bring back "2000"
A camera pinned on your chest already exists. Gopro. I wear it while skiing, forget to turn it off and end up filming my entire lunch.😂
I guess if it could tell me how many calories was in my goulash that could be a novelty.
This is 2023, people randomly pull out their phones and start recording all the time.
This is basically an idea from the movie "Her"
My biggest issue with the Humane AI pin is how to deliver audio only to me without using headphones/ ear buds. If they could figure that out it would actually probably be useful for me. Until then it is just a gimmick. I am still interested in it and if they go half price will probably pick one up.
That is a solved problem. The biggest issue is that it's a smartphone but with less capabilities.
A lot of form factors appeared before the black mirror that an iPhone is.
Eventually someone will figure out the most effective form factor. And it'll eat the entire market.
Linus is just mad because you need regular sized hands for the pin's projector 😉
going turbo! like wreck it ralph
Turbo is a fun word but those old buttons should have been called restrictor plates if they wanted a good motorsports analogy
"I'll pull it out on the show..."
Man, lemme tell you how much a laptop disappointed me
That would be a wickid series: LINUS AI, could use ltt forum and the ltt labs to make an wholesome gaming/tech related/ meme/ and some segway to our sponsor (DBrand?) AI... Oh not forget the quickbit!....
The AI pin for voice commands is such a compromise. Since you have to tap it and it's not always listening it'll be used less than a smart speaker. It's more like Siri on your phone.
The main issue is you cannot program it. I've asked. Being able to program it how you want like an Android or Apple device is important.
Bluetooth projector on your shoulder is the best way. 👍
we need timestamp guy for lmg clips or lmg clips clips
24:45 Am I the only one who totally does not understand what happed here? Lol
“i already have a rolodex and a calculator why do i need a phone that does both and also plays music” lmao this is niche product but it’s not terrible. i could see something like this catching on with a niche crowd in just a few years
I don't understand why this isn't just a phone with less functionality.
Is that not exactly what this is.
Startrek nerds are gonna love that thing.
AI Pin is like a bad Kickstarter that went viral…
Quality of information processing degrades tho for larger context length. So it won't pick up as much as you would expect.
With blackjack .... And lady's of the evening... You know what forget the ai pocket protector
If you don't put your hand in the right place what do others see? Is everyone else getting annoyed by bright blue lights? Or blinded by laser?
We also like Turbo, that's why Turbo Chicken Simulator is coming soon!
You arent going to replace phones with this any more than the apple watch was going to. cut the price in half and make it a phone tethered ai assistant wearable that still has the projector and I'd be sold instantly.
Linus said try hard major cringe
Yeah, well.. I've been moved around all my life. Dallas, Baton
Rouge, Vegas.. Sherwood, Ohio. There's always been a Snappy Snack Shack.
Any town, any time.. pop a ham-and-cheese in the microwave and feast on
a TURBO DOG. Keeps me sane.
