Back in the day (around 1997) in New York, when Tower Records existed and you could spend hours listening to CDs on the headphones they provided, I discovered and stood transfixed by the Octet one Friday evening. I've come back to it time and time again. Enescu is so underrated.
So beautifully performed String Octet by George Enescu, the famous Romanian composer,violinist, conductor,teacher.Some facts: he was admitted to the Vienna Conservatory at the age of seven and graduated at 12 and then studied at the Consevatoire de Paris. What stunning music! I have never heard it before, but loved how uninhibited it is, while at the same time, as during the third movement, how extraordinarily beautiful. Many thanks for the music and for playing it so incredibly well.
