Paused it to instantly vote for upgrades to make it a better bike that looks as close to original as can be without upgrading anything to make it better!!! Then gift it to me once it’s all done!! 😬
I won't offer which way I think you should go because I've been watching you long enough too know which ever way you go the end result will be sweet. 👍👍😊
I'm digging the idea of a resto mod rebuild. Keep it basically stock appearance but tweak it for better ride and handling along with more power and better performance. They are great bikes that deserve to be ridden and have fun with.
I love the steelies they are beautiful and handle really well. Heres my thought's. Resto mod if you plan to ride the bike, ya know they dont stop at all in stock form, the suspension is horrible, the rattle your arms off, every bolt and nut will come lose without blue loctite. To be safer to ride they really need upgraded, oem they look good but aren't really great. For the most collectible and probably the most money if it ever were to be sold in future, I'd make it full oem replica as true as you could. That being said, I would personally make it worked up and ride the bike, they are excellent bikes when done up. Ya need to waken it up with some porting and get lukes high comp dome.
You seem to be passionate about this bike. You’ve got history with it. If it were mine and I planned on keeping it long term, I would do a balls out resto-mod, as much as my budget would allow. It already sounds like a bone stock restoration would be difficult due to parts sourcing, so why not make it a Franken-Beast? Just thinkin’ out loud!
Can’t go wrong with ground up resto. I also think you can’t go wrong with some modern KYB suspension and tasteful mods to help enjoy the ride either. If it’s just bolt on mods, they can always be swapped right back out for stock parts or vise versa
I'd make it look stock, but better parts. M 89 has old white power forks, has had kx 500, now getting yz 450 forks. Been through several shocks. Motor is almost stock with a heavier flywheel and fmf fatty. It is agreat mountain bike and kindle rocks well. I have an alluminum frame for it, but I'm not sure I'd like it as much. I have several other bikes I ride more, but I'd like to see what you can do to make a similar bike better. Then see what you think about it compared to alluminum framed 500s. I have an 08 crf 250 chassis I could use though.
My previous vote was stock ................... boring !! Make it a DBF special and build it the way you would want to build it. I wont miss an episode no matter what direction you go .
I still type like that on computer at home.I don't own a cell phone, nor do I wnat one. Resto mod for sure, mine as well enjoy riding it with the better parts.
I think you're already answering your own question😂. Without it's original engine, it's not really a true restoration. The issues with suspension component availability is another stick in the spokes. For me I'd make the frame and bodywork look as stock as can be with original colours and decals, and then add your subtle modifications on. So what I'm saying is RestoMod.
I used to have a 93 cr500, I wish I never sold it. I currently own 2002 kx500 that’s too nice to convert to af I really want buy a cr500 engine and do a af conversion but am on the fence because nobody talks about how much weight your saving on a af build. Do you think you can address the pros and cons of a af conversion in a future video
Crusty old CRs that don’t go away? They make a cream for that…. Resto mod but only because it needs to be ridden. Looks better in the sun. Building them for a museum has been done enough imo
I worked at a shop a guy dropped a cr500 off 100% complete but no spark we got it sparking but no one could get it started (I was 15 at the time and boss was a small guy) Three years passed the owner gave up left it at the shop and said keep it 😳 My boss offered it me for a months pay I refused this was 20 years ago I really regret that decision!
@@tylerhubbell6410I’d of got by, I was put off by my dad saying they are horrible to ride too powerful for me etc so ended up with a CR 250 that summer instead but I’ll always regret missing out on that 500
Resto mod please, we all know what stock looks like. I like watching your creative skills show on your builds
Build it like you would have in the 90's for sure.
Factory look, with aftermarket goodies.
Restomod! Because friends don't let friends ride stock 👊🏻 🏍💨
Crank it up! Love the mods.
The '92 colour and graphic is one of my favourites even though they were simple. Add parts that will make the bike better to ride.
nice brother!! fantastic!

Build it as you think they should have built it from factory. That would be really fun too see.
Holy Tana Harding (yes I too remember that as well)... time to resto mod the ol girl.

I'd definitely make a tasteful resto mod. I'm a sucker for an OEM looking machine but with some goodies. Love them red and blue machines.
Nancy Karrigan rides a KX500
Rest would be a cool build.
Full custom to you and your riding abilities
restomod, new subscriber
make it look ol school, but make it ripper. put all the good stuff on it
I love the steelies they are beautiful and handle really well. Heres my thought's.

I don't know how many of those you have, but I'd set it up for your favorite style of riding

Resto Mod is my choice. The thing is bro, you are building it for you, what is your choice?
I would go for the factory works look. Some gold excels and renthals, gold chain
Yeah I reckon I'll opt for Resto mod too
Use something soft when you give it the ole Tanya Harding. 😆🤣😂😅🙂😂😅😁😆😅🤣😂🤣😅 👍👍
Restomod 🙏

Do it up with modern suspension
Restomod please. I would really appreciate seeing what you could do. Maybe smart carb.
Hadn’t ck out little while then Merlin had old video you boys back in day , then thought hope you working another CR 500 and guess what .
Welcome back. I haven’t gone anywhere that’s for sure. It was fun seeing that old footage for sure. Definitely a young Kevin for sure.
Rideable rocket ship
Restomod!
Keep stock look, but build motor to rip. 😊😊😊😊😊
Use all modern good bits ,build a Hotrod.
Fun new build on the way. Keeps you out of trouble? ❤️
I’d like to see a restomod
Hard call…full bling mode, or full period correct restoration…I’m leaning OEM resto…
I think you're already answering your own question😂.

So what I'm saying is RestoMod.
I heard that at the 7:00 mark 🫡
Got one ready when you are
Sounds like a restomod to me.
Any CR500 build is better than it just sitting in that container.
Make it a resto mod!!!
As close to original as possible but with aftermarket upgrades
I used to have a 93 cr500, I wish I never sold it. I currently own 2002 kx500 that’s too nice to convert to af

I can definitely do a comparison video
Go the old way as if you were doing it in '92 Tenfo
Crusty old CRs that don’t go away? They make a cream for that….
Resto mod but only because it needs to be ridden.
Looks better in the sun. Building them for a museum has been done enough imo
Make it look stock but trick it out!!!
Resto please!
Build a hotrod rider that looks as close to stock as you can
I worked at a shop a guy dropped a cr500 off 100% complete but no spark we got it sparking but no one could get it started (I was 15 at the time and boss was a small guy) Three years passed the owner gave up left it at the shop and said keep it 😳 My boss offered it me for a months pay I refused this was 20 years ago I really regret that decision!
To be fair though would you have been able to make it without that paycheck til the next one?

v0rtex air intake & exhaust ?
I'm The Opposite
I Say Full Resto To Original , It Will Be Worth More Original
Tearing up old Hondas is a sin just like putting a street bike motor in a banshee. Hurts me
I'd put it back to stock if u can
I’d do a Stock/Mod with it
resto
Restomod.
Restomod
Resto Mod.
I would go back to original. All of your other bikes are modified in some way
