30 paid vacation days? I'm moving there
20 days is mandatory when you work 5 days a week and 24 when you work 6 days a week, but 30 is the norm, I'd say. I've 30 aswell.
A while ago I had a job with 25+17 paid days of vacation. (25 were free to plan and you could carry over for 4 years or get paid out at the end of the year, and 17 were "ATV" days which you'd lose if not taken, could not be paid out, and were partly pre-planned by the company)
When I was on vacation in the US, my American friends there had a really hard time actually understanding, and then believing, the concept of so many vacation days.
My hubby gets 10 days off in July and Dec because they shut down...then he gets to schedule his days off..it's 20 or 30 days
Still not enough for working our lives but it’s better than other countries who want slavery. People deserve more holiday and less working hours mostly now we may not even have retirement..
I have 36 days - I take 12 in a row (Monday till Friday following week) and with the weekend before and after I get 16 days off in a row. So intake February, May into June and mid September my vacations.
My work requires working every second weekend. So I love my payed time off work!
As far as I know, the only U.S. institution that gives 30 days of paid vacation annually is the military. And any days you don't use by year's end, you can sell back and they add it to your paycheck.
I live in Scotland, and I thought the 28 paid days we get was low compared to other countries in Europe, I think the Netherlands get like 40 days a year. We have what's called statutory holidays though, Xmas day, boxing day (26th December), New years day, 2nd January, easter Monday then like 4 bank holidays that vary depending on location. The rest of the days we choose on our own. So it's around 21 days we get to use off our own back, although alot of businesses will close down for 2 weeks on the last Friday before Xmas so your days go towards that, but weekends aren't counted. Some places will let pay you for unused days at the end of the year, some places will make you use your days before the end of the year, and some places will let you carry them over to the next year if you agree in advance. How many paid days are mandatory where you live?
interesting

@@Tragicomedy2137 the price difference is absolutely worth it. Its not that expensive and way better
Not necessarily. Many free tv channels have done tests on this and many chain bakeries resort to the same methods and quality standards as in the supermarket.

Also European food doesn’t have the preservatives like we have in the U.S., their food tastes so much better than American food. You can actually taste the lack of preservatives or you can taste the actual freshness of their bread ,food etc. Europeans have Americans beat on the quality of food.
lol they do put preservatives in the food in europe.
@@watermelon520b Yes I’m sure they do use preservatives, but just not as much as here in the U.S., in my opinion you can taste the difference, especially with their breads.

I might be moving to Germany. As someone who is half Dutch, half American and American raised, im terrified. I have to leave my mom to go and I have never been so sure of something in my life. Though it is scary, I am absolutely willing to make that sacrifice, and who knows? I might stay in America after all. But I know that going to Germany feels right.

@TheGovernor2003bro… Russia and us have been mortal enemies since WW2. Do you know about the Ukraine war, where us and Russia are indirectly fighting?
Not anymore.
I lived in Germany from 72 to 96. I never ate American bread. My mother never bought it even though we did shop at the commissary once in a while.😅
Lol love the apron 😂
In Australia we get 4 weeks paid holidays plus an extra 17% pay for a month. We also get 11 paid Public Holidays and although it varies by a few days, usually 10-12 Personal days annually for illness for self or a close relative like your child., medical appointments, etc. I think American is the only country to have much less than this for the vast majority of people. Plus we have universal free health care!
Im sorry to burst your bubble but traveling there is certainly not cheaper than US, but its more convenient and easier to travel there
Of course travelling to other countries is cheapere here. I can go to France by train if I want and also hop in my car and drive to the Netherlands or go by train for sometimes less than 20 Euros.
@@Kloetenhenne okay okay I see what you mean. Your talking from the US to other countries where as I thought you were talking about traveling between states in the US. I can't understand why most Americans hardly drink tea or use electric (or any) kettles to boil water.
Americans:110v(plenty gas stoves)--Europe.220v!Kettle takes 50% longer to boil!--Besides:Most American tap water not potable!
as an american i've just started making my own bread when i can. unfortunately the flour i use (gluten allergy) is a lot more expensive so i can't make it to often ;-;
I lived in Stuttgart When I was younger until I was about 8 … I really wish to go back one day.
Electric kettle is quite common in India 😮 I use kettle to boil water, make tea etc
India has 220 volt!---US have 110 Volt!(kettle takes longer)
Part of me wants to visit Germany, just for the bread. I love bread so much, I feel like I would have a field day there 😈
German bread is insanely delicious
My favorite is Pumpernickel. So delicious! 💜
So brilliant when out of nowhere you can think, “Let’s go to France!” and then you do it! 🎉
Why would you buy “American” style bread when living in Germany?!? The local bakeries make and sell bread that is so much better.
They last long, I buy them as backup when I run out of normal bread but can't buy a new one (Sunday or after an exhausting day)
As someone who has lived in Europe, Asia and America- i dont know what you mean by traveling in europe it's cheaper! As most Americans have cars- traveling to the town over or state or beach or desert or lake or amusement park or national park ... Its all the same car ride away. And before you say "what about trains?" I ask you, how did you get to the train?
Did this traine take you to your hotel and movie and a bite to eat too? And it was all under the same ticket? Dollar for dollar, travel is no cheaper. Bc you can go from Pais to Berlin is only relatively cheaper than if you started in Alaska. I grew up outside of Amsterdam and we used to joke that americans arent well traveled - i think what we misunderstood was that no passport meant little traveled until i got to America. Mile for mile Americans are far better travelers than most of the world. Not leaving your country and being able to travel to Hawaii and Alaska to Key West to Martha's vineyard to the grand canyon to NYC and Boston - it's a country like no other. Good like with your new right wingy party there, first time since 1945.
Lived there...great people..great country

Is 30 day vacation surprising to you people?
How about 30 days vacation, 4 months fully paid maternity leave and up to 2 years reduced payment of maternity leave, and if you’re self employed you get maternity allowance in line with your salary in Austria🇦🇹?
Austrian employers also pay 14 salaries a year by law. 2 extra for Christmas and for the Summer so that people can go on a long summer break and buy plenty of presents on Christmas.
P.S. your employer is not allowed to contact you during your vacation or days off. That’s borderline unacceptable.
