My 8 year old son is autistic. He loves The Greatest Showman, and this is his favourite song. He sings it at the top of his lungs. It makes me weep when I hear him. It's like he knows people see him as different and he's telling the world that he doesn't care. I couldn't be more proud of him.

If you're wondering why she's just as much an important part of this song, it's because her relationship with the Phillip guy was looked down upon at the time because she was of African American descent and a part of the circus , and he was white, from a wealthy and very uptight family. if you saw the movie, he drifted away from her because its what his parents wanted, but this song is so cool because she's really telling him she doesn't care about the differences between them.

Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.

I've had autism my whole life and was really self conscious about "appearing normal." But on reflection, the way it shaped my life *I wouldn't trade for the world.* Isolating myself gave me a lot of time to think, and a lot more ability to decide for myself who I am than most dragged along by peer pressure can say. I don't need to be fixed, *I was never broken.*

It's so weird seeing a movie take a risk and make their hero characters screw up, let them know they screwed up, and then have them about-face to correct it. Movies now never want to make the heroes wrong. It's why Anne's death glares during the number is one of the best parts of the entire film.

The other kids stare at me, cause recently they had the "Most Ugliest Student Voting Contest" in their discord without me and they voted me as top #1. Dont listen to them. School can be cruel, most of us had it sadly but it will make you stronger. I was also bullied a lot and laughed at, which by the time was pretty painful if Im honest with myself but that teached me slowly not to care about their opinions at all. Now Im here, at age 23 living with the love of my life being stronger than ever. If I would meet those people from the past who hurt me and laughed at me, I wouldnt feel anything else but pity for them. Imagine how sad their life is if thats what they spend their times with. This is magical. When this number played in the theater, I started bawling so badly someone had to hand me a tissue. I just couldn't help it- me and so many people can relate to this song, it is truly beautiful. The lyrics are more powerful than any song I have ever heard, this is me is by far my favorite song! And The Greatest Showman is amazing and definitely my favorite movie, I cannot express how much the soundtrack has touched me. I have literally not been as affected by hurtful comments after watching this movie. In fact, immediately after the movie, I was singing a song and someone commented that I was a bad singer and other hurtful things about my appearance. Usually, I would have been close to tears and try and make myself feel better, but this time, I just kept singing and thinking about "This Is Me" and I didn't feel upset or affecting by the hateful words. At. All! I was surprised but not really, The Greatest Showman is a movie no one should miss, and everyone can take something from it!

I am BEYOND happy that this movie and this song was able to give you so much in such a short amount of time. Honestly, I was almost moved to tears while reading your comment. I agree 100% with everything you said. This song, it makes me feel like the person I am is the most beautiful person that there is, even with all my flaws. I am Hispanic, and as a Hispanic, I am expected to be a certain way by my family and by society. But I am so different from what people expect me to be, and for that, I have been judged so much, especially by my family. I enjoy the music of a different culture, I am a vegetarian, I do not enjoy going out and being in parties often, because of all of this and more I am always judged in my family, and by those who are Hispanic like me. It hurts me everytime someone judged my choices, makes me feel lesser, makes me feel like I am not Dominican enough. I feel completely outcasted from my family and my culture. It even made me feel like I needed to distance myself from my culture in order to be happier. Although this movie and song did not really make me see that my choices are fine as long as it makes me happy, I can feel that I now have a song and a movie that can understand who I am. My situation is very different from yours, but I can sympathize with your feelings and thoughts about this movie and song. I hope that from now on whenever you feel like all the negativity around you is trying to pull you down with it, that this song plays in your head and in your heart so that you can break away from that negativity and come out as glorious as you are.
I dont usually cry at a movie but this one made me get so emotionally involved that i cried tears of joy that these people were proud of who they are despite their differences and appearances and found myself with tears several times through out the movie. This is a Masterpiece.
What really gets me is that he can come from a movie like Logan, a character that he is synonymous with and plays to perfection, and then shrug that off and step into a role that couldn't be more different and still wear the role like it's his own skin, such an amazing actor.
Don't forget Les Miserables! Jackman may be most known for his action films, but boy can he sing--all the actors sung live in that film! Truly an amazing actor comfortable in a variety of roles.

My 12 year old daughter sung this solo at her junior school leavers concert last year,despite never showing any interest in singing she had obviously been secretly practising for a while beforehand,she nailed it and received a standing ovation from the parents and teachers. One of the proudest moments of my life,my wife was sobbing and I turned to her and whispered"turn it in,it's only a song" all the while fighting back the almost overwhelming urge to blub my self.inspite of the fact that it is not something I would listen to ordinarily,it does provides a memory of those few moments of intense pride,for which I am truly thankful.

Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.

The other kids stare at me, cause recently they had the "Most Ugliest Student Voting Contest" in their discord without me and they voted me as top #1. I play this through my ears, and I keep my head high. I will never be ashamed of how I look. Cause I'm very different from the others, and that's what makes me special.

Dont listen to them. School can be cruel, most of us had it sadly but it will make you stronger. I was also bullied a lot and laughed at, which by the time was pretty painful if Im honest with myself but that teached me slowly not to care about their opinions at all. Now Im here, at age 23 living with the love of my life being stronger than ever. If I would meet those people from the past who hurt me and laughed at me, I wouldnt feel anything else but pity for them. Imagine how sad their life is if thats what they spend their times with. Just sad people who dont get enough attention. I wish you a lot of strenght. ^-^

This is magical. When this number played in the theater, I started bawling so badly someone had to hand me a tissue. I just couldn't help it- me and so many people can relate to this song, it is truly beautiful. The lyrics are more powerful than any song I have ever heard, this is me is by far my favorite song! And The Greatest Showman is amazing and definitely my favorite movie, I cannot express how much the soundtrack has touched me. I have literally not been as affected by hurtful comments after watching this movie. In fact, immediately after the movie, I was singing a song and someone commented that I was a bad singer and other hurtful things about my appearance. Usually, I would have been close to tears and try and make myself feel better, but this time, I just kept singing and thinking about "This Is Me" and I didn't feel upset or affecting by the hateful words. At. All! I was surprised but not really, The Greatest Showman is a movie no one should miss, and everyone can take something from it!

I am BEYOND happy that this movie and this song was able to give you so much in such a short amount of time. Honestly, I was almost moved to tears while reading your comment. I agree 100% with everything you said. This song, it makes me feel like the person I am is the most beautiful person that there is, even with all my flaws. I am Hispanic, and as a Hispanic, I am expected to be a certain way by my family and by society. But I am so different from what people expect me to be, and for that, I have been judged so much, especially by my family. I enjoy the music of a different culture, I am a vegetarian, I do not enjoy going out and being in parties often, because of all of this and more I am always judged in my family, and by those who are Hispanic like me. It hurts me everytime someone judged my choices, makes me feel lesser, makes me feel like I am not Dominican enough. I feel completely outcasted from my family and my culture. It even made me feel like I needed to distance myself from my culture in order to be happier. Although this movie and song did not really make me see that my choices are fine as long as it makes me happy, I can feel that I now have a song and a movie that can understand who I am. My situation is very different from yours, but I can sympathize with your feelings and thoughts about this movie and song. I hope that from now on whenever you feel like all the negativity around you is trying to pull you down with it, that this song plays in your head and in your heart so that you can break away from that negativity and come out as glorious as you are.

What really gets me is that he can come from a movie like Logan, a character that he is synonymous with and plays to perfection, and then shrug that off and step into a role that couldn't be more different and still wear the role like it's his own skin, such an amazing actor.
Don't forget Les Miserables! Jackman may be most known for his action films, but boy can he sing--all the actors sung live in that film! Truly an amazing actor comfortable in a variety of roles.
He was also the phantom in the remake for Phantom of the Opera...Hugh has always been an amazing singer

This is THE most inspiring song I’ve heard. There’s a clip of her singing it before the movie was made and I watched it over and over. She WAS scared to really sing, but absolutely nailed it and inspired everyone in that room! 💕
This song brings tears to my eyes because I know how much I struggled with bullies in school my entire time I attended. I wish I had heard this song back then, but now I can continue to spread this song's message to my children as they go to school and deal with cruel children. We have to show our children and even adults that they can't break us even if we end up a little bruised, we will still come out stronger in the end!! Stop the bullies!

My 12 year old daughter sung this solo at her junior school leavers concert last year,despite never showing any interest in singing she had obviously been secretly practising for a while beforehand,she nailed it and received a standing ovation from the parents and teachers. One of the proudest moments of my life,my wife was sobbing and I turned to her and whispered"turn it in,it's only a song" all the while fighting back the almost overwhelming urge to blub my self.inspite of the fact that it is not something I would listen to ordinarily,it does provides a memory of those few moments of intense pride,for which I am truly thankful.
