This Monolith THX 10 was measuring down to 16hz in my room. Of course that will depend on the room, but it's pretty amazing what this 10" sub can do.

I have dual Monolith 10's for my setup. Primarily for home theater and not much music. I really haven't seen anything that compares in the price range, the quality to price ratio is amazing!
Bro the level of chill in your vids is really quite cool.
Thanks Joe , and happy New years
I have two of them in use in combination with my magnepan Tympani I .
For the past 3 years now,it's for the price a sub that does some really incredible performance. In stereo and home theater .. it's been a incredible value for me.
I also have 18 inch jbls in the back of my space that will be replaced by 2 more of these. The woofers in the monolith , are insane quality .
Welcome to the JNT drinking game. The magic word in today's show is "Beast." Drink whenever you hear this word Great video man!

I’m So hungover today 🤢
I did. Or did I?
Hahaha I'm gonna have to watch it again 😂 with the bottle in my hand 😂
Jokes on you I'm drinking milk.
I've had these in my home theater setup for the past couple years and they are great
God the quality of your content just keeps getting better. Keep it up man I love your vids!
Thank you! 🙏
At this price they are literally giving it away. Incredible VFM!
Man I just got the Monolith V2 10 and it's an overachiever for sure. My theater is 20x20 with 8ft ceilings. I was worried it wouldn't get the job done but this thing can shake the shelves two floors up!
Monolith THX Ultra 10" Lot of people where complaining below 30 Hz they were getting a lot of port noise chaffing. Did you have that problem? I am wanting to buy two of them but if I do not like them it will cost me $240 to return them.

@@DanielGrows Thanks
Monoprice has really come out with some competitive subs this past year 🤘 nice video bud
Thanks for the review. Bought the 10” today using your referral code. They are also having a sale, so that made the purchase easier :)
Nice review, Joe! I agree that these are very capable subwoofers. Especially if you don’t have a huge room to pressurize. Great bass for the buck.
Hi Erin! Love what you do, keep it up brother!
I bought the THX 12 when Monoprice released it. Still going with zero issues. Can confirm: It is beast.
So is the THX 10". I have two PB1000 Pros in my front stage and picked up the 10" just to fill in the back of my HT and was surprised that I was actually able to hear it with my two SVS going in the front!
Is it very deep i mean the bass
I just received mine and it feels underwhelming at 0db. Do you have to turn it up more than usual? My other sub was louder at 0db
When I purchased the monolith I was a lil bit skeptical but when I finally hooked it up I realized that was the best thing that I ever purchased this sub is elite
Excellent review, I agree 💯
I have a pair of these 10 inch subs in my living room, I love them. Very impressive for two 10 inch subs. They get low. I highly recomend monolith subs!
How long have you had them? How hard and often do you run them and how are they for music?
@@madcrabber1113 I've had mine for 3 years pretty much since they became popular.
I run mine with 6ft planar speakers (see my channel tympani 1 video)
They perform way above their price , load of dynamic range and never gets taxed . These woofers have a Xmax of 3.5 inches (!)
I installed 2x 15 inch ported Monolith yesterday. 🤪😜
Hey Martin is your house still standing ? 😁
Should have gotten the dual 15 inch stacked subwoofer instead.

Amazing sub!
I just got dual monolith 10 subwoofers and I like them. The sound is very similar to my SVS SB2000. The SVS having slightly more output by just a hair and slightly cleaner bass. The monolith are very well insulated and I get no rattles.
Well done video
I am doing a complete home theater overhaul and am buying one of these to start. Looking forward to it.
Let me know how it goes. Excited for you!
Good video. I had the sealed 15” version, sold it and bought an SVS PB3000 instead. I had to turn the 15” all the way up and sometimes it wouldn’t turn on w/ the auto detect.
Odd it wouldn't turn on. PB3000 is a beast too!
Just got the 15 inch version. I had no idea it was going to be that huge lol. I can see now maybe the 10 would have been okay.
Got this for my bedroom during its holiday sale for $450. It's awesome. Have the miniDSP HD hooked up to it for better optimizing the bass. I had to get the SVS isolation feet to decouple from the floor because it was just shaking and vibrating too much shit around the room on the 2nd floor..which felt and sounded nice, but I knew I wasn't getting accurate bass. It's an awesome sub that can really stand with the 12" subs.
I've got 2 of these for my apartment living room. I know the mini DSP is an amazing device. Is it worth the hassle and extra money for the end result?
Yes because you have more manual control to fine tune it.
Wow they definitely know what they are doing 👌
Those mono's look incredible. I went a whole different direction with car subs. Huge bang for the money.
hey Joe, I usually set up subwoofer one time with the calibration and rarely touched it unless it sounded weird and suspect family member touched it. Question: what do you think what quality of a sub that made us feel to the bone like in the dance club and movie? low frequencies like this 16hz sub with higher dB? ported vs sealed? or by sheer physics: size of the subwoofer? say in a 1000sf room.
Nice review.
I tested the PB3000 vs the SB3000 and it knocks it out of the park, it sounds louder, deeper, and definitely lower. I have a Sonos sub too in my room, and I love that little thing, but the Sonos ARC and Sub don't even come close to the emersion/sound that my 2.1 SVS Ultra Bookshelves and the PB3000 do...it is freaking awesome to me! I wanted to get the REL15 during their black Friday sale for 11000 from Adorama, but they didn't offer free returns (You have to pay for the shipping back to them) so I decided on the PB3000. I might try one of these Monolith for my 2.1 computer setup...but I'm still tempted to listen to the 15 REL....
You would have to go up to the SVS 4000 to get an equivalent sub (output spec wise) to the Monolith 13 THX sub (it may be marketed as a 13" driver, but it's actually a 15"). Yes, it may have an EQ app, but if you already have decent calibration software you don't need to spend the extra money.
I would be. Curious if you would say same thing if you were to get the PB2000 SVS. It’s a big unfair to compare ported vs sealed box
Good stuff, obviously bigger moves more air , but 10-12 are my favorite size subs . I guess it also depends on your music type..
I didn't know you are in the LA area too. Very cool.
Happy New Year 2021 Nice sub , I have 4 klipsch 12 inch subs and 1 klipsch 15 inch sub in a 12 × 18 ft. room
Great review. I have two Monolith 10s in a 1700 cubic foot room and love them. The only other sub IMO at this price point was the SVS PB1000, and I think the Monolith 10s are built and perform better dollar for dollar.
Right on 👌 I now have two of these 10s from monolith. Just got one of these hooked up right now the other one's still in the box soon I shall take it out and have both playing right now the one is good can't wait to hear the second one. ✌️

would you choose this or a svs pb 10 or speedwoofer?
what's sub? would you get the monolith 10 or SVs pb 1000 Pro I already have the 12-in SVS PB 2000 Pro. love it!
Other Joe!! Great work my friend… I’ve been thinking about the THX 13 or the SVS pb 3000. That app and costumer of SVS is hard to pass up. This is actually a very hard decision… appreciate you bruda
Maybe look up some CEA 2010 data on both and see which specs are most important to you. The app is handy on the SVS, but less important with an AVR since the EQ and levels can be set there.
I have two subwoofer a 10 inch and a 12 inch monolith on my home theater what do you recommend for a receiver I currently have onkyo tx-rz810
Hey boss, if you had the choose now would you choose the 12 inch or the 10 inch Monolith
Man. I’m in LA as well. Small house. Currently using an SB 1000 pro and was considering the sb2000 pro. For both movies and vinyl. The app is awesome. Not sure to upgrade to the sb2000 or go to a pb 1000 pro. The size of the pb puts me off a bit (small living room). Thoughts?
Great review of this very affordable sub! Gonna pick one up soon. Any other subs you recommend at this price point (or cheaper) that goes down sub 20hz?
This thing is pretty beast. I'm currently reviewing SVS's PB-1000 Pro. Maybe I'll do a head to head.
have you done one of these with the speedwoofer 12s?
Hi Joe,
Thank you for the great review. I have a room that is 20 x 17 feet but I use only half of it to watch tv and movies. Would you recommend one 12" or 2 x10" for this room?
I would go 2x10" because you have a better chance of reducing nulls in your room where bass is being cancelled out by reflections off of walls. You will also have more output with 2 vs one 12".
The HSU VTF 2 is about the same Specs and Price. Would be a nice comparison??
The neighbours Will love the bass sound, not hate it then.🤣😂
😂
They won't hear it just feel everything shaking 😜
Could you do, or can you direct me to someone who has DIRECTLY compared the Monolith 10, and the SVS PB1000? Seems like everyone says away from this match up, when they BOTH are natural contenders..... both 10", both ported, both $499.
I already have a PB1000, but am about to go with duals.... trying to figure out should I get a second PB1000, or sell it and get dual Monolith 10's? Really could use some graphs or something showing side by side testing. I'm stuck........
How does it compare to Klipsch subwoofers. I have a Klipsch SPL-150 an two teufel 12 inch subs.
The low bass is good but the upper bass is lacking compared to active towerspeakers like Teufel Power HIFI.
do you find the 10 monolith has more output than the sb3k?...can the 3k not go down as deep as the mono 10 having so much more power?
Heavier panels = lower panel resonance frequency.
Sealing up a vented subwoofer = low Q sealed subwoofer. Nice for getting down into single digit frequencies at low SPLs...
Any idea why the updated version of this is the only sub in the monolith THX lineup that has a curve option that amplifies upwards past 30hz, instead of flat and down? I feel this is critical to get the sub 35hz to sound even.
And yeah, this thing is a beast. I can't believe it's not a 12 inch.
I use rca to xlr cables and heard the difference. 180 degree phase set on both subs. 80hz crossover cutoff on my reciever. I love "thx select ".
what difference do you hear?
whats the difference between this and the M-12?
per specs i see the 12 is louder but the 10 goes as deep?
Dude, I CANNOT decide between this 10 and stepping up to the 12. What do I do? Will I get that much more for the 12? I have a REALLY high ceiling also, like 15 feet. I also gotta hide the sub in the corner behind the couch (per wife). I dont know what to do??? Ideas?
Hi, can you maybe help.. I can't choose between the 10 and 12 inch.. does the 10 inch really make a impact when watching movies. Or is it just "nice"
My room is 9 ft by 29ft and 8ft high..
And the Monolith are in discount.
10 inch = 550 euro (800 normal price)
12 inch = 750 euro (1200 normal price)
Subwoofer position is 8 feet from my sitting position
What would you recommend?
Thank you for the help
Hi could you please advice that between Q Acoustics QB12 and Monolith 10" THX subs which is better for my new setup ? I am planning to get Denon AVR x 3700H and Q Acoustics 3030i bookshelfs. Thanks
Haven't heard the Q Acoustics. I can vouch for the Monolith. It's a beast.
Thought about getting the 10, but after years of trying to be budget conscious, and ending up spending more in the long run.....I ordered 2 15s. I'm sure the 10 is solid, but if you can find a way to swing it...... do the 15s. They..... are.....IMPRESSIVE.
I came close to getting this sub. But ended up going with the sb4000. Mainly because the size and power. Huge price difference. But I'm happy with my decision.
Monoprice has dB advantage at 20hz but 31hz+ the svs sb4000 beats it
However considering the sb4000 is 4.5 X the price not really fair
Hi Joe, will this work for 2 Channel Stereo? if no then whats you recommendation for 2 Channel Stereo beside's REL as we do not have REL dealer in our country. Thank you for your great videos.
Pretty much any sub that doesn't use DSP. Can you get any of the OSD Black ones shipped to you?
The problem is that DSP adds a delay. If you are using an AVR on integrated amp that can add delay on your main speakers to match the delay on the sub, you'll be ok.
@@joentell No Even OSD's I cant buy and shipping costs exorbitant, however we have SVS dealer here, so any recommendation on SVS Sub for Music, for my Tube integrated amp. it has no Sub out.
I made the purchase for 2 of these 10 inch subwoofers for 467.49 each on Black Friday (2022). I received them today (11/27/22) and they're very solid and heavy (70-75 lbs) and couldn't imagine what the 12 inch woofers look like up close and they're supposedly 115 lbs. Monolith THX Ultra 10" Lot of people where complaining below 30 Hz they were getting a lot of port noise chaffing. Did you have that problem?
So, for a 18x18 room would you recommend a single 12 or a pair of 10s? It's $200 moe for the 10s but that's a lot more air that they will be moving.
I think a single 12 would be impressive, but there will most likely be some nulls in the bass response somewhere. Dual 10's would help with that. Or you could go with a single 12" with he plan to upgrade to 2 in the future. I think dual 10's would be MORE than enough though.
It's unfortunate that this is no longer available. I was able to find one source that's selling and it's over $650 which there is definitely better options such as rsl speedwoofer for $400 or the mk2 for $450. Also PB-1000 non pro model is still available for $500...
How would you compare this to a HSU ULS-15 MK2?
I would like to see a review of a monolith vs SVS vs MK. Just starting to feel everyone pushing the same stuff. So many great sounding subs and speakers that don’t advertise like these new companies.... Now all we seeing is SVS ,monolith etc etc, also denon and marantz etc etc
I am trying out the SVS sb 3000 I like the sound but it just feels like I am missing something like the feeling on you body. I have two Klipsch SW 112 PB but they sound muddy. Is the Monolith THX 10 subwoofer just as fast and clean sounding? I will be buying two if I can just make up my mind any help would be great. Size of the Monolith THX 10 is the biggest I can go and price point.
90% Movies
I bought one a few months ago. I love it. I want to get another one but I think it may be be overkill considering the room it's in is about 150 sq. ft. ( 1176 Cubic ft.).
Maybe to get smoother bass response, not necessarily for louder bass. Check with a mic to see if you have any nulls/dips in the bass response in your listening position. That would be the purpose of adding the second sub.
Trust me, 2 is always better! 🙂
@@dominus519 not just better.. deeper & +3dB of headroom. I get +9dB when I place it in corners.. so less abusing gear😎

Interesting speaker. I might've gotten this one if I knew about it a month ago. I got the SVS PB-2000 - a beast. What do you think about the PB-2000 compared to the Monolith?
Usually the value to performance ratio is higher for the Monolith's just looking at specs. But SVS also offers their app and awesome customer support. You gotta weigh the options. You can't really go wrong either way
Hey Joe, how did you setup. how do you setup the setting on the back?

Yes it is more than enough for 99 percent of people. I used to use a Hsu 15 mk2 at my old house but since my son is bigger now and would destroy it (2.5 years old) I use a Samsung q90r soundbar now and dont miss my old 15 that much.

The SB would be a significant step back for HT since it's a sealed sub. The PB would be a better choice but the monolith still has an edge over the pb in terms of deep bass. If you can up your budget another $116 though the HSU Research VTF2 MK5 will outperform both and is arguably the best HT sub under $850 new. Not unless you build your own sub.

You could get the BK Electronics Monolith Plus which is an internet direct company out of the UK. That sub would be about on par performance wise with SVS PB2000 / PB2000 Pro or Monoprice Monolith 12. They hand build their subs and can offer custom finishes.
I wish you would have included on how it performed musically to your ears compared to others. I don't do home theater. I do 2.2 stereo.
I wouldn't recommend these for 2 channel unless you have an integrated amp or AVR that could add delay to your main speakers to blend it with these subs that use DSP. DSP causes a delay that needs to be compensated for.

The general consensus is that both are great subs but that the HSU is the better sub due to it's VTF flexibility, slightly better performance in the below 20HZ range and it's more balanced in the mid bass range. There are also a few more longevity complaints with the Monolith subs than HSU.

This and the PB1000 pro are pretty evenly matched. You could go with either and be happy. I think the PB1000 Pro can play maybe 1hz deeper and a little louder by a few dB in my room. Not a huge difference.

i got 2 and thier crazy in my 14 by 14 room ill hear the windows falling out but not audibly hearing any bass and i just see that as hella cool lol surprised u put them above the sb3000 tho lol
I got two also but the second made more things vibrate and I disconnected it until my man cave is ready lol
@@stckyjoey1 yea if u dont have a room for that it would definately cause problems
Yeah, it's more a ported vs sealed thing for me. I'm confident the PB3000 would place higher. The SB3000 is still extremely impressive.

I used the ported part and I think my neighbors were pissed so I need to put insulation in the walls lol

Any chance of a review of the Bowers & Wilkins ASW610XP sub?
Probably not, but never say never. B&W has been terrible about responding in the past, but maybe now that they've been bought by Sound United, that might change.
