Hey! Nice video! :) I have A200 with DCT. Usually it is lagging when i use it in traffic especially shifting 1. and 2. gears back and forth. What dou you think softwear updates on motor and transmission softwear ? Could help something ? Really annoying this lagging and also hear some noisy too. The other gears are okay. I experineced in Sport mode not doing it every time, strange.... Diesel engines do the same ? They have more basic power to roll over the gears. Thank you for your answer.
@@drivelife.channel Brilliant. Good to know. I'm currently running a 10 year old120d BMW Msport which is so powerful and quiet you wouldn't even know it was running on 90k miles, so shame about the lack of noise insulation on the Mercs, but I think to be fair the current BMW Diesels are the same. Thanks for the reply. 😊👍
@@drivelife.channel That's good to know. 😁 I looked at used A45 recently but the running costs and insurance were off the scale for me. I just want the Pano roof option on whichever A class I buy as they look fabulous.
I've got a 2020 GLB 220d - had a BMW 520d before. Maybe that the GLB engine is still running-in, but definitely rougher and noisier than the 520d. Power very similar. 520d was around 60mpg at 70mph / GLB 220d is around 50mpg at 70mph - body shape obv a big factor though (4matic is only driving front wheels in this scenario so isn't a factor)
If you are referring to the ZF8HP then there is probably no automatic on earth that can compare. Probably the finest automatic available. It's got the smoothness of a torque converter auto with the shift times and firmness of a DSG. I used it in a F21 118d and it was literally just perfect in every way. I don't think the front wheel drive 9 speed is as good so I've been told but not experienced
where do you go to put so many miles on your cars lol, 1,000 miles in 2 weeks! damn if you done that for just 6 more weeks you would surpass my 17 year old car in just 4 years haha. nice video!
You say it’s a joy, yet I watched a good review by an experienced reviewer of this and it was a bad transmission, he even had to take it back to the dealer 3 times to work out why it was jerky. The dealer said well that’s just how it is. I was strongly considering this but not now. By the way my Toyota which has 220,000 kilometres on it has never had any issues and the auto behaves faultlessly. Change the fluid every few years and job done. I want to get a nice new car but all these modern cars are trying to be too clever for their own good.
Dual clutch trannys tend to be jerky in some situations, that's to be expected from a "manual" gearbox where robot predicts and selects the gears for you unlike the traditional AT's. But most of the time it's a really smooth exprience.
Ive got a rental 2024 glb 250. With the 8g, its a very nice little transmission indeed!
I’m really wondering is it more or less jerky in city driving compared to Dsg in VAG cars?
Obrigado pela informação e dica amigo, um forte abraço (Brasil - São Paulo)
thanks

W177 a200 gearbox broken in 20000km, now at dealer
Reason ?
Beautiful black car
Love the Petronas green lip in the bumper! Is it from factory or custom?
im driving a cla 180 do to you realise that gear 1-2 is very rough ?
Considering buying one of these, so thanks for posting. Is that 220d engine good?? Reliable? Is it noisy? I'm guessing road tax is low too.
Yes the 220d engine is brilliant! Its a little noisy but it is bulletproof, gets over 60mpg on the motorway and its only £20 a year to tax 😁😁😁

Having had a 120d m sport aswell, they are fairly equally matched, I think merc is slightly quicker though 😁

How do they compare to the 8 speed ones BMW use I wonder, MB has always done good autoboxes but have heard the 8 speed BMW ones are fantastic
The MB dual clutch is phenomenally smooth when on the move, but jerky when at low speed, the bmw one is a fantastic all rounder:)
@@drivelife.channel So true, not good for short distances and slow trafic.
See my comment above..
@@drivelife.channel What do you think reset and relearn the trasmission? The 1and 2 gears are noisy and jerky for me.

Probably worth looking at a W204 C Class with the 7g-tronic plus if you want a more traditional autobox
