Reggae Genealogy is an annual multicultural experience that explores the dynamic origins, evolution and influence of Jamaican music.
In its inaugural staging, the Reggae Genealogy showcase traced popular Jamaican music from before the island’s independence from Britain in 1962 through to the present. Education and entertainment melded as we revealed how African elements, other non-Jamaican genres, the island’s socio-political environment, and technical innovations shaped the Caribbean’s most prolific and far-reaching musical form.
