- With how light the rear ends are on Tacomas, it's beneficial to add weight to the bed. That is why I have a full size spare in the bed of my truck!
When I initially installed my spare tire strap five years ago, I installed it against the cab. Ideally you want the added weight as far toward the rear as possible.
With the installation of the new spare tire strap, I'm able to move the spare further back and give it a fresh new look!
Great video! 🔥🔥
Thank you 🙌🏼 finding out in the moment that they were your straps threw me for a loop 😂 hopefully I can do another review on one of your products in the future!
@@desertdime that would be awesome!! 💪💪
Thank you for this video! I know not to buy this for one tire !
I mean it can be used for one tire. You’ll just have slack like I did.
@@desertdime just ordered one from Alpine since it says 10% off today/ and ships in 3 to 5 days , thank you !
I think or I’m assuming the NFAB strap is for a bigger tire. I have the nfab strap and didn’t hammer in the clip like you did so I didn’t have any problems with the main strap you tie down. I have a 315/70/17. I put my recovery boards on top of my spare tire along with my tool box. Honestly a tire wouldn’t make a difference in weight distribution because it would come stock already with your spare under the bed. Adding your jack and more shit for recovery Will honestly make a difference. It’s looking great. Keep going.
Oh yeah the n-fab strap can fit a much larger tire. I had a good amount of strap coming through the ratchet system. Yeah I heard some people didn’t have a problem with the quick release and some have the problem I had. It just comes down to if they bored it out big enough for the clip to fit in. I still have the stock spare under the bed in addition to the 33 in the bed. I have the stock spare solely for the little additional weight it adds. Thanks for the pointers, I’ll eventually be adding a thing or two more to the bed set up
I bought the DK tire strap this past Xmas. The strap adjusters are steel powder coated black, not plastic. Maybe the older versions were plastic, but the one I bought in December was definitely all metal, no plastic. The d-rings are not great because they won't sit flush when using the bed bolts. I used a different set from DRT fab.
Ohhh gotcha! I musta had it turned around. The old ones were plastic and the new ones are metal 🙌🏼 thanks for the clarification. I even tried zooming in on their website pics before putting that part in the video and they looked plastic
@@desertdime After watching your video I had to go out and double check because I was not sure either. Anyway, the one you have is super premium and that ratcheting mechanism.....holy cow!
@@bg8302 I’m stoked to see how it holds up 💪🏼
Truck bed stiffeners would help be another good mod for when your off-roading 👍🏼
To my understanding the y strap is suppose to face the cab and the ratchet part faces the tailgate. Does it matter if it’s installed the way you did?
It doesn’t matter which way it faces, it still functions the same. Ideally you’d want it set up the way you described for efficiency and speed in the event you need to change a tire, but I’m not racing so no need for the ratchet to be close to the tailgate. I set it up the way it is so I could utilize the already existing D-rings and not have to drill more holes.
You should move your hand around more.
your hands are making me dizzy
Tacoma guys need to cut their nails!
