    Beautiful truck! I'll link up with you next time I'm in Missouri, help out with some paint correction tips and get the truck ceramic coated. All I ask is for some pictures of it when we're done!

    Explain this ‘wire tuck’? It looks super clean with out that big wire trunk running along the firewall/ cowl. Where did you put the com at? And where did those wires go? Explain further please!
    It looks super clean, I spent a lot of time cleaning up my factory wire harness, I reloomed and taped everything real nice. Zip tired and really just cleaned up the stock wiring. I’m pretty picky and meticulous about how I wire aftermarket stuff so anything added had been integrated cleanly and nicely into the factory OE wirring. But that wire tuck is sweet I’ve never seen that before. You should explain some in that I might wanna try that.

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  5 месяцев назад

      There’s a lot of room inside the wiper cowl, so i mounted the pcm inside it and routed the big wire look through a hole in the firewall on the driver side. I also drilled a hole near the back of the engine and stuffed those big plugs and other wires up inside. I’ll make a video explaining better!
      Really appreciate it man! I’m really picky when it comes to wiring too. I reloomed the harness and made it look as clean as I could.

    I like to see a clean nest under hood. I can't stand it when someone pops their hood and it's a rats nest of extra wires ran everywhere for accessories. There's nothing worse than messy wiring and cluttered battery terminals! You'll see someone's positive battery terminal has 4729 extra little wires and crimp on ring terminals stacked on the positive side! It's not hard to get an inexpensive battery terminals to hold all the heavy guage ground and power wires and have extra space for all sorts of accessories! I've spent a lot of time carefully zip tie organizing everything, including redoing some of the factory wiring and looming. I really like the mesh looming, then head sharing the ends to secure it tight on the wire. It loooks really clean. Getting the 'Christmas tree' zip tires and sticking zip tie points really helped clean up and redo some factory wiring. I'd really like to know more about what you did for this 'wire tuck' you did, and the ecm relocate. I see you got rid of that main trunk of wiring that runs alone the tilopnof the fireman and cowl. Where did you move it to? Under the cowling?
    Your one buddy with the 3rd gen, needs to delete and remove all that under hood insulation and crap on the firewall and along the e cowl. I remember in my '06 mega cab 24v there was all that black under hood insulation stuff all across the top of the cowl and on the firewall. I hate that stuff, it just gets dirty and greasy and holds dust dirt and water when it gets wet! The first thing I think I do on all vehicles, mine and other peoples if I'm working on it is throw that under hood insulation in the trash where it belongs! It really cleaned up my mega cab along the firewall and cowl, I even did the same on my second gen '02 HO 6 speed. It's almost identical to your one buddy as with the white secound gen. He needs to remove that chrome stick on rocker panel chrome! That stuff is just asking for rusty doors and rocker panels! Especially if you live in moist, wet, and salt! I think you said you're in MO? I'm in CO, on the western slope, in grand junction. High desert over here. Itll snow, but not much, Colorado don't use salt on the roads at all, and thank god! Colorado's a good state to buy a clean rust free vehicle from, and is often over looked when looking for something 'rust free'

    So, what makes this truck sound the way it does? I'm looking to get back into a 2nd gen soon, but I don't care for how they sound with just an exhaust and tune. This truck sounds amazing compared to stock, so what one of the mods exactly make it sound like it does?

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks man! It pretty much comes down to what turbo and exhaust setup you have. An s400 and 5 inch gives it that street tractor sound that Cummins is famous for. However, an s400 on a vp44 truck isn’t ideal for drivability.

    Sweet truck bro. I have 2 3rd gens in that color. Well my 04 is the same, my 05 is a tad lighter color. Have been thinking about starting a channel too. Always figured nobody gives a shit about my trucks, but it seems people are hungry for this stuff. Any plans to P pump or CR swap? Such a clean truck tho! Still seemed rowdy for a VP and a S400. You have a subscriber can't wait to see how it goes.

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  8 месяцев назад

      That’s awesome man! I really want to find a 3rd gen in this color one day. You definitely should start a channel! As long as you have content to share, people will watch. I’m still trying to break the camera shyness but we’ll get there lol. I won’t be doing a p pump but i will be CR swapping one day, but it’s going to stay a VP for a while. Looking to venture into the LS world soon, so trying to budget for that. Thanks for the sub and comment, seriously!

    Not many in this color on the road anymore. Mines the same except paints shot. If it’s repainted you mind throwing me a ballpark number of what you paid? Looking to do mine. Sweet truck man

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  2 дня назад

      Yeah I don’t see many in this color! Only my bed and rockers have been repainted, the rest is factory. I had new bed sides put on it, but i did a lot of the labor myself. I think it was roughly 3500ish for everything, with them replacing the rockers and doing the paint work. I’d look into getting a few different quotes and find a shop that does quality work!

    With these binging a 4wd, seems like it sits lower, almost like a 2wd, did you do any modifications to avoid rubbing with the 22x12s

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah it sits low for being 4wd. I did not want to cut into my fender or bumper, so it does rub before i get to full lock. I just don’t put myself in situations where I have to turn that sharp

    Do you have a parts list for the suspension?

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I do! To summarize:
      Rear: 2 leafs, 1 inch block and cal tracs.
      Front: 1/2 ton coils, 1 inch leveling kit (the bushing) and shock tower deletes.
      Cateye duramax shocks on all 4 corners. I'm considering adding another leaf in the rear due to it being slightly squatted... I'm hoping the front suspension will settle more overtime and even it out.

    What u need to 48re swap it ?

    • @VossGarage
      @VossGarage  10 месяцев назад

      Starting from the front - you need a dipstick, the 48re motor plate with shorter starter bolts, the appropriate flex plate with bolts for you hp goal, the torque converter with bolts, the transmission (you need a 29 spline output shaft to work with the manual T-case), the transmission to crossmember bracket with bolts, trim the T-case input, check driveshaft length, and an appropriate sized trans cooler with lines. You also need to decide between a FMVB or Auto VB and get the corresponding shifter/electronics.
