  • In the last week we've lost two very important members of the stunt community. Jeannie Epper was the GOAT in the stunt business in the US. Her father John had come to the states in 1926 and had turned the stunt game into a profession. Jeannie had worked on so many great TV and Film projects over the years and has given the world many wonderful performances. More importantly she was a mentor to many stuntwomen who are now common place in this business.
Denise Ryan was another pioneer in the UK stunt business joining in 1982 at becoming a staple in the industry. Here legacy is similar to that of Jeannie. They'll be missed not only for their talent but for their love for the business and those they've encouraged to follow their dreams.

Great tribute to both stunt performers. I remember Jeannie doing stunts at 65 years of age.

Thanks Jon for showing us the work of these two greats, it was especially good to see more work of Denise Ryan. I learned a great deal from you about her career, and the fans of Filthy Rich & Catflap will always remember her on-screen punch-up with Eddie. A shame that she's now no longer with us.

    With regards to Jeannie Epper?
She began to enter my mind, when I saw clips and interviews regarding "Romancing the Stone" (1984), it was also interesting to spot her at the [Dodge City sequence] on Cheyenne Autumn (1964) and spot word about her involvement on "The Hallelujah Trail" (1965) [I'm not sure which one she doubled but I believe it was either Lee Remick or one the temperance marchers, perhaps (this is just first choice in my mind, even though I haven't spotted her yet)]. When talking about Tarantino however? It was also nice to see her pose with Zoë Bell and appear with Bo Svenson (know him best as Captain Campbell from The Delta Force [1986]) as Reverend Harmony Kill Bill Vol. 2 (2004)
I'll be looking forward to explore their Body of Stunts someday, but for now,
    Rest in Peace
    Jeannie Epper and Denise Ryan
