If Portal 2 was a Rhythm Game (Synchronized Music Map)

- After months of work I'm finally done. The native Portal 2 map editor didn't allow enough precision for me to synchronize to the music, so I learned how to use Valve's Hammer editor for this project.
The quality of this video was upscaled from HD to 4k because RUclips grants higher bitrates at this quality. I also think it may have solved some audio shifting issues.

One moment I really loved was when portaling to old aperture, then to the defeated wheatley, then to the elevator. It really showed the magnitude of the trials Chell endured to then end at the standard end lvl elevator to go on to the next puzzle. Gave a feeling of all these challenges and places were just another chamber to beat and move onto. (ofc the elevator segued into the end cutscene, but for a moment you can see it as just going to the next chamber)
This feels more like an official trailer than a user made map, huge props

Fun Fact: Portal does have a rhytm aspect, like when you ste on a faith plate and you fly, the mechanic part of the soundtrack gets louder etc.

That's really not a "rhythm aspect" though. Calling it that implies that there is gameplay that's based on making use of rhythm, which Portal has zero of. Music getting louder isn't really a rhythm aspect.

@McKayla Marille no, the game is muted (except the final scene), just in-game sound effects are partially music (like the sound of lasers or when you fly in the air music starts) so you could think so
This was not created from actual effects from the game, but instead synchronizing movements from the game with the song which I believe is the main theme for portal.

So I have watched this multiple times and just noticed that the section with the bouncing balls is not connected to the first area. It’s edited so well that the only reason I knew they weren’t connected was there was no hole in the ceiling were you fell from. You are truly incredible at editing. This video is amazing

The fact that they switch to using actual levels from the game at 2:37 onward and seamlessly transition between each one is just so cool
he even took the time to rdit the other side in most of the portals
its a basic vfx technique known as a screen wipe or frame wipe, basically when sometime moves across the frame quickly (usually very close to the camera) acting as a transition between cuts. when done well it feels very seamless, and when done perfectly its hard to even see a wipe without viewing frame by frame. the wipes in this are done very well, but arent subtle. moving sideways through a portal, facing a wall etc. in the first portal to the original levels, the wipe is actually the most hidden, its done by getting very close to the white platform, at that point i believe there is a jumpcut to a different white platform, containing the portal to the level.
Nope didn't like it. The bit from 1:08-1:42 was incredible but the rest of the video wasn't nearly so good. The bit after 2:37 was basically just an FMV.

Here at aperture science, we managed to invent time travel. Don't ask how, I also managed to get Wheatley back from space, He's in the chamber where the robots scream at you right now.
This is really worth the three month wait. The most epic thing I've watched today. Such synchronization and it's absolutely mind-blowing.

I'm actually, genuinely speechless.. this is incredible, absolutely incredible! All of the synchronization of the music and the movement, all of the elements of the instrumental that get incorporated into the map in some ways, and at times, the insane precision that he has to have in order to not only continue within the map, but to also sync that movement with the music at the same time. This is honestly insane and deserves much more recognition for the sheer amount of work and dedication you've put into it. A huge congratulations on yet another phenomenal project of yours! :)
