Never had I seen somebody (other than myself) associate three of my favorite artists together! This was a highly refreshing comment to read, in a sort of hipster romantic way Have you heard of Anathallo? I highly recommend listening to the album Floating World!
It's refreshing to hear this sort of expanded tonal language incorporated into pop music. Owen Pallett is a great example of the beauty that results from successfully mixing contemporary concert music with song writing that leans more towards pop. I love when people can successfully blur the line. I'm sure his old composition professors love to listen just as much as his old co-workers, which is an extremely hard thing to accomplish. All while saying something meaningful through his art.
Some nice person towards the end: "Uh, Owen, I think you left your shoes behind. Uh, OWEN, wait! I dropped my contact lens in the parking lot and you just KNOW you're going to step on it in your socks." 😅
Skarsgarding Just know that you are giving a whole lot of humanity peace and joy. I love you, Owen. I am so thankful you exist. You make my life better. I love your sound. Thank you for your sweet song. You've made my life better, like a rare bird that I was so blessed to hear in the distance. You are that gorgeous! Your name will travel with me with other greats, like Beethoven, almost. ;)
Just gave this to a friend as a birthday present, and I said to him, "Owen is to violin what Einstein is to math, for lack of a better comparison," but, for clarification, math was Einstein's bitch just as violin is Owen's bitch.
This is crazy... they took the strings part from Charles Ives: Unanswered question as the background for The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead. Compare - The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead: ruclips.net/video/Cil-Pu8TJ_U/видео.htmlm38s Charles Ives - The Unanswered Question: ruclips.net/video/kkaOz48cq2g/видео.html
Yup, the CD single of “Many Lives → 49MP” has this alternative version/arrangement of the song as a b-side, where it's rightfully called “The CN Tower Belongs to the Dead (Many Ives version)”
I had to listen to it a few times but I think the guy in the audience shouts "Please Please Please" which is one of his older tracks. Not sure why he said no though!
He seems really dismissive of a lot of Has a Good Home songs besides the big ones like This is the Dream and CN Tower. He talked about how he feels that album isn't his best work on Q and you can also find another full concert video where someone in the audience requests Took You Two Years and he's really reluctant to play it (he does in the end though). Idk why, that's one of my favs from him!!

When I first saw him live I was just blown away by how beautiful he sounds.... I wanted to sing every word but my mouth was wide open in awe!
Nearly 16 yrs from when I first heard his bloc party cover on some random Internet blog... Still absolute class. Some ppl just walk in the light.
Would absolutely love to see this line up: Owen Pallet, Sufjan Stevens, and Efterklang. That would be an amazing show!

Floating World!
6 years later and I still love this

It's impossible not to fall in love watching him create this beautiful music from the ether.

why does this video not have 100,000,000,000,000,000 views?!!?!?!?!!?
Because this is the way of great art.
I would call this "effortlessly beatiful" but I can't because you can tell how much work has gone into everything he's composed
+Andrew Zetek Its not work, its exhaustion to take in galactic logic.
Those orchestra parts are even higher up, this is absolute top of the mountain music.
Why oh why has it taken me 12 years to see this?
The version of The Butcher in this session is incredible. Really understated. Just lovely.
most underrated music ever
I recognice his music so much, it resonates so strongly with me, the counterpoint, the working with layers, its like hes building slivers of the song.
Some nice person towards the end: "Uh, Owen, I think you left your shoes behind. Uh, OWEN, wait! I dropped my contact lens in the parking lot and you just KNOW you're going to step on it in your socks." 😅
Oh my god this is amazing.
I love this man's work...
the burcher es mi cancion favorita en este concierto
Hes blessed that orchestrae want to play his music :) Sometimes i wish i could hear my music played by orchestrae aswell but alas.
Absolutely gorgeous!!! If Heaven exists, this is the track playing when you arrive.

fuckkk NOOOOO ! it`s hell
Awesome job
"Too many notes"...loving the Amadeus reference!
Couldn't be better. I would love to go to Owen's concert with an Orchestra.
Espectacular
Im sure there was ONE nerdy guy in the audience that night who was VEEEEEEERY disappointed.
I don't think so - the songs are so packed with videogame references - alone at 13:55 some nerds in the audience probably creamed themselves xD
@@fisheye2245 lmao i JUST noticed that
Playing violin in Vienna must be like making glass on Murano. Sure you can do it somewhere else but why would you?
The old lady during he poos clouds as Pallett is singing about cocaine, gay love, and the legend of Zelda 0_0
Brillante!!!
This is timeless.
an oasis in what is largely a barren musical desert these days. Thank you so much for putting this up.
I think I may be using "You're stepping on my cookies," in the near future.
Just gave this to a friend as a birthday present, and I said to him, "Owen is to violin what Einstein is to math, for lack of a better comparison," but, for clarification, math was Einstein's bitch just as violin is Owen's bitch.
genius.
Just so good

Чудесно
да!
He played joanna newsom peach plum pear? :O
He played it live in 2006, I think, at a tiny bookshop in Georgia when I requested it. He's a lovely person.
@@ysf-psfx Ahh thank you for responding and reminding me of this fantastic video - yea he totally seems it, would be cool to meet him one day C:
