- Опубликовано: 17 авг 2017
- Coke Studio Season 10| Episode 2
Produced & Directed by Strings
Music Directed by Salman Ahmad
Composed by Salman Ahmad
Lyrics by Sabir Zafar & Shah Hussain
With the emblematic Sufi rock sound that shook South Asia, Sayonee marks the debut of Salman Ahmad as a music director and featured artist on Coke Studio. The resonant depth of Ali Noor’s voice juxtaposed with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s classically-nurtured, incredible range makes for a behemoth line-up that is bespeckled with nostalgia. Complete with the iconic bassline that defined a generation of Pakistani music, the song is given a new life with the decadence of the rubab, magical inserts of the flute and a hard-hitting percussive body. Filled with musical surprises, Salman Ahmad leads his bespoke ensemble

Just one thing that comes to my mind .. wow !. Took me back to sometime in the 90s . A taxi driver in Mumbai who was taking me to the airport had Junoon's Azadi cassette in his cab's stereo and soon both of us were grooving to Sayonee. Impressed , I asked him which band it was and his reply was "pata nahi saab , Pakistan ka koi hai" . I noted the album title and was able to locate the CD in Oman which I brought back and still have to this day. The original guitar solo of Sayonee was the first solo I tried to learn when I bought my first electric guitar .. ( still cant do it perfectly unfortunately : - ( ) That guitar solo in the second half by Salman Ahmed was very tastefully done ..
Vishwanath Natarajan I am impressed how crazy are u about it ,Really
awesome
Love your feedback!
Impressive..I have acoustic guitar it is so hard to strum ... These guys are awesome !!!
Vishwanath Natarajan love ur comment sir
the bass guitarist just kills with his calmness... how can one be so calm yet terrific amidst all the energy created by this powerful composition and arrangement 🤔🤔
Mannu is one badass 😘
It is because of his faith in Allah and it's praise which he is doing through his passion. When you are in waj'd which is the praising time and you just lost yourself at that time this calmness prevails you .
An entire generation of young existentialists like me were drunk on this soulful expression..
Chain ek pal nahi aur koi hal nahi !!
Absolutely brilliant !
swasti rao true
absolutely......
So true ❤️
We are such an odd generation, can't relate to old people, can't relate to Gen z 😬😬
😊🥰🙏
04:25 - wow, the twist that the song makes is absolutely phenomenal and makes the coke studio version excellent!
Coke studio is the only platform where i see love and respect between india and pakistan. That's what music does to negativity.
Himanshu sagar..... Well said
Well said himanshu. True 😊
Yeah. That love and respect should exist always. Two halves of the same soul. What's to hate?
@@dyophysitism2431 So stop drinking!
lol well said
1:11 the goosebumps - took me back to years ago to Bangalore, when my buddies and I heard this for the first time. The years are gone by, two friends have gone to a place into the far beyond, the memories remain - thank you Junoon, Noor Ali, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Coke Studio Pakistan! Love and peace to all!
And a fellow bangalorean reads your comment and start missing his friends. (Y)
Pak Coke Studio.. your songs touch our souls across the border and throughout the globe. \m/ \m/ Shukriya !
THE GOOSEBUMPS MAN!

Ali Azmat, the rockstar for we 90's kids.
Em Agree bro

Undoubtedly.. Ali Azmat vocals in this song were the absolute zenith..

Much Love From India, Huge respect for Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Saheb !! 🇵🇰❤️🇮🇳
This is amazing! I was introduced to Junoon's music in the 90s and I've read Salman's book. There is no other band like them.
Jennifer Johnson they used to be mega hit in 90s
Jennifer Johnson love you too
Jennifer Johnson but you are angrez 🤔

If you’re comparing anything to the original then you’re going to be disappointed. Instead of comparing them you should listen to the song itself and see whether it works on its own. And, in my opinion, it does. Ali did a bloody amazing job, his baritone is so soulful, I’m so happy for him. And Rahat is a genius, his voice is insane as it is. In my opinion the song was utter genius. The music complemented the sentiment and the voices and emotions did the lyrics justice. I loved it. Well done guys, I just cannot stop listening!
music amazing, vocalist don't match it in any way rahat sounds like a squealing 🐖.
^_^ i love both ... orginal version and this one... nailed much .
Agree! not a masterpiece but yes genius.
Well said

When it comes to Sayoni, Ali Azmat is irreplaceable... Gaaya inhone bhi theek hai but Ali Azmat ki apni alg hi baat hai... 😊😊
Same rule Ye jism hai to kya song pe bhi hota hai ,
Agree ?
Ali azmat version sound more soulful and vocally enhanced.
Kya yaar ...Ali Azmat is million times better and will always be best.
Exactly brother
Rahat jaisa koi singer Nahi hai world me .....but sayoni only Ali Azmaat Ka hai or rahe ga
Nah man nah.... nothing can beat Ali Azmat. This song just can't be complete without Ali.

Second half is heavenly! Just beautiful. I just can't stop listening to the second half on repeat! Those guitar leads and music are just too good to ears. Love from India.
Sahil Jain exactly. Second half takes my breath away!!
sweet smile...
1:12 that specific tune of guitar is what our childhood enjoyed particularly at that time. This song sayonee is just the most diverse and rhythmic sufi music ever created by these gentlemens. This song is purely haunting!!!!
This song is only made for Ali Azmat. Lots of love from Bangladeshi brother.
Exactly bro
ali azmat hota tu ye song ziada best tha
Right
I agree with you.
This song is made for Ali azmat
No words only tears in my eyes. Muuuuuuh! love and respect for our Pakistani artists from Hindustan.
I was in tears by the end of the song! it was not only mind blowing but also soul touching! I wish I could comment on each and every part of this version of the song separately, but I have no words for that.... the "Allah" in the end was mesmerizing....
No matter what country/religion/ culture you belong to... music composed and songs sung from the heart... reaches the heart of the listeners... and that's how it connects us...
Grand solute to all the musicians and singers involved in this video.

Well said ! Totally agree with you!
First half is alright, but second half is wow!! Love it 😍
Huge Indian Junooni here. I still come back to this video sometimes and wonder the Sufi omitted that epic solo he created for Sayonee. Saeein & Ghoom are masterpieces.
Original is much better
the way Ali Noor says Allaaaah is mindblowing ❤
Alveena Kanwal, that gives me goose bump and tears like you call ur god in pain.
Yes ❤

Coke Studio drummer is just legendary
I haven't seen so many musicians jam together with auch beautiful intensity. The audio is really intense. Lovely.. Just amazing. All these guys are extremely talented. In love with Coke Studio Pakistan.
Those who criticized this version. After listening to the Indian version, Ab kya khayal ha?
Hahaha wo to bullshit hy
suchii yar ye 100% better h is song ka to beragark kr diya h india ne
There is an Indian version?
Indian version Ka link bhejiye
We should always compare thing to the better versions... otherwise lesser good version toh lako hote hi hai
Now I will even take this over the T-series version.
Sayoni original suno is sey bhi best hey
@@warisali8710 Dude I know, I am just saying that Now in retrospect this is better than T-series version and the Janoon Original version as everyone knows is well absolute and ultimate Gold.
Ps: I've hearing the Original version since I was like 7 years of age now I am 27. I know it's value is beyond anything

I am a great fan of Junoon since 90s. Love you Junoon want to see Ali, Salman and Brian performing together one last time before I die.😓😓😓
Hit like if you want the same.
Ali Azmat ke EGO kharab ho jayege.
Pakistan Now .. Yeah I miss them so much.. Ali have a powerful voice and their live performance is just Wow!
Ikram Yousefzai same here dear man b marny sy prhly inko 1 huta huwa dekhna chata hun or suna chata hun
They gave Ali Noor freedom with high notes to say 'Allah' towards the end, and he nailed it brilliantly. Should have sung the song entirely himself.
last part gives me goosebumps every time
Yes of course
Unstoppable trio from Pakistan! 🔥🤲 And we have shitty songs like DJ waley babu making it big! These guys deserve it this is what music is all about Perfection!!! God bless u guys. #Sayonee.
Gurashish Singh dj walay babu 😂😂👌👌
Very true 🎀
We're glad you like our music. Always welcome.
original was best one
Kyun aate hain wHan se log? Yahan gane? Rahat saab, atif aslam, ali zafar? Bhul gaye aap, naina thag lenge... Dil to bacha hai ji, lal ishq, aur bahut kuch..... Bharat jawahraton ka desh hai. Han , unke hunar ko bhi salam hai, par apne kuch kam nahi.
The jugalbandi between the elec guitar and violin and the crescendo that follows just raised this already phenomenal jam up like a 100 notches !! Divine ! I bow to these gods !! -Loads of love and respect from India !
Neha Deshpande why bowing to these men? they are just musicians and humans, they eat food and go to toilet... :) ... i mean your bow should'nt be so cheap God is only one and except him there is none so please bow To only real God the one and only the creator of the whole universe... never call any stone , statue and human a God again.. this is just a suggestion.. Don't mind and cheers :)
Yeah never heard such jugalbandi of guitar and violin before and also the jugalbandi of drummer and dhol/tabla was epic.
Faith and God are a very personal matter. I see god in a beautiful performance and that's a matter of my faith and perception. We should learn to respect everyone's ideologies, all the songs of Coke Studio bring out this message. Talk about the song instead of preaching/ imposing your personal beliefs.
I am not at all imposing m belief on u just openly voicing mine that MEN aren't GODS. Indians always do that .... n I fear that "GOD" is a great great word should be used Carefully ....everyone is not GOD... NO HARD FEELINGS but I just felt like saying it so I said it that's it... nothing else .... I dnt disrespect what u said thats ur opinion this is mine ... n let us both pick the 'positive' out of each others comments... love...
oh c'mon man grow up. God can be used as a metaphor too or as an adjective like "Godly". Stop being so narrow minded. Go do the moral policing on some other channel.
"MASTERCLASS"...……………...Lots of respect & love from INDIA
Who is listening in 2019 ?
This song is like cure to my dysfunctional body
😔
My childhood memories...
Sayoneeeè 🤚👩⚕️kya bashar ki bisaat, or koi hal nahi :) 2019 n many more upcoming years , or forever
Though I am an hardcore atheist but somehow loved those words sung in this song - "Masjid me tu, Mandir me tu". This shows unity. Lots of love from India. Hope my comment gets noticed by my Pakistani brothers.
I noticed yah homie
sayantan ghosh this is fact said by bulleh shah . Zahr me tu batin me tu rooh k Ander hey tu
Thanks :)
sayantan ghosh ! Sure why not your comments has been noticed from core of hearts 💕 with love Nd respect pakistan 🇵🇰
however we dont like this part of lyrics.
otherwise, Greetings.
Original song was a legendary one but I think this one was really great as well. Hats off to coke studio. And don't forget that both songs were directed by Salman Ahmed. And both are marvellous
I just came here to dislike the video. You made my cult song into crap!
M Abdullah Peracha agreed.
Even Rahat cannot replace the sheer raw vocal power of Ali Azmat.
Jo marzi keh lo , after 4:29 this song goes to another level .
Junoon songs used in this fusion:
Intro - Ghoom
1:13 - Sayonee
4:25 - Salman Ahmad playing solo of 'Saeen'
5:15-5:26 - A brief portion of 'Meri Awaz suno'
Song resumes with Saeen fusion and ends on the note of same song!!
yhanks
Sounds like an Original Gangster Junoon fan.
LoneVocalist Haha! It all started with the audio cassette of Azadi!
i like that "Karoon kyu gulamii terii .. " wala part in 'Meri awaz suno' , that pitch is unmatchable . cheers ! junoon \M/
Now we've got a great fan here

Please ignore the idiots... it is as much your page as it is anyone else's .. :)
Prasenjit guha mazumder , i m a Pakistani and I welcome you.
Love you India 🌹
Ahmed and Mata555, rise beyond hate. A lot of us Indians want peace between our nations. I've made a few Pakistani friends during my travels and believe me we aren't that different.

The word SAYONEE is sufficient
Ali Azmat is misssed.... love frm Nepal
7:00 to 7:42 just takes me to somewhere else. Listening to this clip on loop. love it. anyone agree?
Avinash Kumar agree brother
sends chills down my spine!!
Totally👌👌
just awesome, totally agree!!
seriously the way Ali Noor sung at last 1 min. takes me to somewhere else, like i surrounded by Allah only...If i talk about RFAK i cant say about him he is such a sufi sultan (God) after NFAK.. Thanks a lot..
No disrespect to legend RFAK ali and salman..but don't know why missed
Ali Azmat.
Huge respect for ali azmat
RANA TUHEED UR Rehman exactly..this would have been a masterpiece with Ali azmat
Saadat Shah woh kehtay na k jb banda na ho tb uski qadar hoti . Toh ali nay jaisa bhi gaya sur main bagair surr main hamarah zehnoon pay naqsh hai yadain wabasta hain
RANA TUHEED UR Rehman felt the same missed brian and ali.
Salman Ahmed was never a vocalist and never would be. Ali Azmat was always the prime reason of Junoon's success which split when salman Ahmed wanted the limelight. Ali Azmat's voice and pitch is just out of the world!!
Well I am along with you folks.Ustad Rahat is a great singer but in his genre, he can't fit in rock. Have you you forgotten garaj e baras. woww.Ustad Rahat was doing his work and Ali bhai was his ❤✌
Literally Ali Azmat's version has won because of Ali Azmat...Great performance by Rahat Sir also...❤💞
Take Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️
Was seeing the true story video of Sayonee and it saddens me that such a beautiful artist have to read such negative comments. This one is absolutely beautiful. Ali Noor's work is great. Also, not to forget, such a good bass guitar. Amazing cover!
Ribhu Chawla nice status
Last part is just amazing

This take me to 10-12 year's flashback when ma brother used to listen this on tape- recorder..
Rab bhag Lawe..
I'm not a south Asian & I did not hear the original song. The first time I heard this I thought it was a masterpiece. From a pure musical perspective this is a really good song. I don't know why everyone's complaining about it. Maybe you're too biased to the original that you fail to notice this version's brilliance. it takes someone who's totally strange to your musical history to recognize the sheer magic of this song. So try to enjoy it and don't spoil it for others please.
DragonHima well said
But you see original Song
DragonHima dear friend if you also listen the original song too so you just listen this song recently at first and then listen original one
but we are listening the original song for 20 years so so many times and then after 20 years listening this Copy version
so first of all listen the original song for 20 years repeatedly and then after 20 years listen this copy version then you will understand the difference and standard of quality in both versions
Pls listen real version
Write saiyonee by ali azmat and search then you also say that original one is tremendous
Who's here after Indian music industry remade this masterpiece?
I mean this is loads better than that version ab ehsaas horha hai
_Whoa, this is the power of great music, it goes beyond boders_
I like this song because of they used a best word masjid and mandir both
More love from india
Second half, the song goes on another level. Awesomeness....
Wow, they turned this into a straight up prog metal song. Incredible.
It cannot be compared to the original it was too good but the last part of this song from start to finish will remain in anyone’s mind and soul, whoever hears it! I just wished the whole song could’ve been about the last part of the song!
Wow Good But Junoon the Band Was a Sweetest Storm that Captured hearts Universally .....
Pray that they Unite and Spread joy to all Music Lovers and Unite Hearts...
They United Again
Rahat Sahab has very gracefully carried the legacy of Nusrat Sahab on his shoulders, and it's one HUUUUUGGEEEEE task. Praise and Reverence to both.
Masjid mein tu Mandir mein tu jeevan sagar mein tu... sai tu hi mere sacha sai tu hai. . 😍
Second half of the sing is absolute masterpiece from every single musician . They don’t get enough credit they are soul of this song . That drummer is on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nothing replaces the original, but I liked this version too! The track has a lot of detail. Sounds great on quality studio monitors.
I am obsessed with pak coke studio....keep Listening multiple times... Salam from sarhad paar..

That bassist is the chillest dude on earth. He looks like he’s half asleep while playing. Just amazing
Salman Ahmad knocked it, killed it & bamboozled with the genius idea to collaborate with Brian O'Connell (his school friend) & introduce Sufi Rock which took the entire subcontinent by storm.. since Junoon's Inception back in early 90's their main USP was fusion of classical instrument with American style Electric guitar, bass guitar & more importantly the Lyrics which had Sufi essence. Sufism has that power to reach the soul & bring more closer to the Almighty Creator. Saein, Muk Gaye ne, Ilteja, Bheegi yaadein are my personal favorite..
amazing pakistan...
Bollywood is not Bollywood without Pakistani artists Bollywood is totally incomplete without them ....
Jive jive pakistan....
Love from the paradise on earth Kashmir ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Don't criticize this song just enjoy sound which Salman has created through his magic
Am I right?????
One of the most iconic song from this part of the World. Love Junoon forever 😊❤️🙏 (missed Ali on the vocals but...)
I have both versions and I listen almost every day to them. I don't compare. Each is best at its own place.

Sayonee, probably one of the top 10 song sang by Pakistani's singers ever. It will never get old, I am pre sure 100 years later still someone would be listening to this song. Love from USA

"kiya basher Kee bissat?"
"Aaj hai kel nehen".
Damn Harsh reality, which most of us humans have forgotten.
All the due respect to the singers but man the original song is ahead of its time. Jitna bhi recreate kar le rukha, feeka hi lagega original ke aage. The bass line ,the solo, the vocals the groove of the original song made by Junoon is unbeatable.
