The Bloody Lester Street Massacre

  • In Memphis, lies Lester Street. In 2008, a house on that street was a house of horrors when the police were called, to find Cecil Dotson, his family, and friends brutally murdered. The investigator would look at gangs, deals gone bad, but the true culprit would be much closer to home.

    I was in the emergency room triage with a young son on this particular evening. We were at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Downtown Memphis and they locked down the entire E.R. in fear that the suspect would show up. When they finally let us leave the room.. as my child was getting admitted, I walked by the trauma room where they tried to save the children. Blood was everywhere. I've never seen something so disturbing in my life. My heart goes out to this family. RIP

      Yeah, I just don't see how anyone can kill a child. There is a guy here in Tennessee that killed his wife and 2 children with a shotgun. 9 spent rounds between 3 people. He shot the 9 month old in the crib at pretty much point blank range. 11 deputies had to be relieved from the case because they couldn't handle the situation dealing with the small children. And he said he did it because they had financial problems and wanted a new start. He definitely got a new start in prison! It even took them a year to find him competent to stand trial.

    • @TwoBs
      @TwoBs 2 года назад +19

      @@geofreak75 I’ll never understand anyone that outright murders a child let alone harms them. The lowest acts one can commit. They didn’t ask to be brought into the world, they’re not even grown to understand it.
      Children involved in cases like this is solely why I couldn’t bring myself to ever go through with a career in investigations. As much as I am (morbidly) curious about these things and spend a lot of time learning about cases, how this happened, why that happened, etc. …. but anything involving children just gut punches me. I’m out, especially being a parent. No amount of mental training can prepare someone to see such and have to be in the thick of it, and I honestly see officers that are relieved from their duties due to mental toll it takes on them from seeing such things in a positive light - shows emotion and care despite it being their job to do such. Still major kudos to those who push through for justice, though. Something I could never do.

I have seen in so many instances and countless times, the mothers literally arguing with the Judges presiding over their sons/daughters court hearing telling the Judge how she 100% believes her child’s story regardless of the witnesses in-which they always say the witnesses are lying, all the DNA found at the scene as they believe someone is trying to frame their child and planted the hair, fingerprints and other items at the scene and even though he was the last person to see the victim alive when he left at blah-blah-bullshite o’clock, he did not kill them even though his story changed multiple times.
      I have seen these countless mothers coddle, clean up their grown adult child’s mess (as some mothers have being arrested for evidence tampering, hiding a fugitive, etc.). Those particular cases, the mothers have and still do, convinced themselves that their dear, innocent, terrible luck child, wouldn’t hurt nobody, tender, positive and an honor roll student 5,000 years ago, that their child is not lying to them because they cannot fathom that someone they have loved unconditionally would EVER lie and lie on a subject that is so horrific, let alone the child they raised. I believe some do that because as a society, they always blame the parents for not raising them right, they must be sick too, etc. because then those mothers would have to face the music and facts which will make them look like horrible parents and what parent honestly wants to be blamed for being a bad mommy.

      @@DiscoStfu An incredibly stupid attempt to make it look gang related. Truth be told, if he had successfully killed the children and then just left, it might have actually been assumed to be what he wanted people to think, the rumors would have floated it. Not a very bright individual- he tried to kill an infant 'witness'. I have to assume that he had a family vendetta, which may have been part of why he was threatening his sister. Trying to support someone in prison is taxing and expensive- most don't. Not for long. I've known some folk who've done hard time, and the ones who refuse to own up to their responsibility invariably feel jilted by those on the outside who don't let their lives revolve around their bs. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Pretty common phenomenon, although killing ppl over it isn't.

    As soon as the words "Lester Street" popped up, I knew what this case was about. I remember watching the episode about it on 'The First 48' and being glued to the set. I couldn't believe what was happening and how it was all because of their Uncle/Brother. If anyone has time, I highly suggest looking for that episode on 'The First 48' and watching it unfold with the Memphis PD. You can actually see when Junior speaks to his mother after confessing to the police. The poor woman was so heartbroken asking him why... and what/how it happened. Ugh. I can't imagine the pain she felt. Listening to one son tell you how he killed the other son, AND injured or killed your grandchildren. The First 48 is one of my favorite shows, and this particular episode is one that has stuck with me for years. Seeing it from Mike's perspective was different. I had not seen footage from the courtroom, and I'm glad I got to see it today. I hope that man rots in prison for what he did to those people, especially those babies. Look at his right eye (which is on the left, as you look at the screen) at 21:18 and then look at that same eye at 21:23. He looks normal in the first time point and crazed in the second, literally five seconds later. (The crazy eyes show up on the phrase "tellin' you" in the video, but probably showed up a couple seconds before, but his head is down so we can not see the change happen.) But, you did an amazing job on your research and story telling. Thank you so much for this. You really showed me things and perspectives I didn’t know about, also. 👍🏻

    He’s guilty as sin. His body language, his eye movements, etc… when he’s answering questions SCREAMS that he’s lying. Nobody who did 13yrs in prison is gonna be afraid or intimidated by anyone, let alone a detective. The only thing that scares someone who’s been gone that long is going back! & he definitely wouldn’t have confessed to his mama if he didn’t do it.

      Lmao doing 13yrs in prison don't make you mf Rambo lol 😭😭. I believe he did it too but this idea that going to prison makes you tough is hilarious, he could a been in PC for 15yrs. Prison don't mean shit, there's plenty of punks in there. That's like saying "I grew up Chicago" or any of these other tough cities as if that makes you tough yourself.

    My 💜 goes out to those children who survived. I can't fathom the fear they felt seeing their uncle who was suppose to love and protect them not only murder their father and their siblings and other people in the house but also attempt to kill them. How terrifying. I REALLY REALLY hope they are ok and that they can find some peace and heal from this. It's appalling to know not only he did that but couldn't even be man enough to admit to it. 💔💔💔❤️‍🩹

      I'm not from Fla but I remember that case. I think it was a pedophile that was doing drugs with daddy's gal friend that night while daddy was at work Add I think after the gal friend crashed the guy took her. Or she gave her to a dealer she owed $ to for drugs. .That's a sad story

      @@PK-bh1ww that’s the word on it…..the whole thing is sad and fishy, like I tell people when I’m working, it doesn’t pass the smell test. Maybe him giving it a deeper dive and opening the eyes of other people we could get a lead we need. Someone (besides the two) knows something about where she is/what happened to her.

    I think he's guilty because of the simple fact not once did he say the person/people who killed my brother and nephews are still out there. Or why aren't you looking for the actual killers. This would be on my mind even more than them sending me to prison. I want justice for my family and to feel safe. Also because this would be what proved I was innocent.
    The detective that interviewed him was right on. He is a cold blooded killer. What a tragedy.
    Thanks for another great video Mikey.
