I’m a painter by trade, who’s only picked up a saw in hs woodworking. I just bought a van two weeks ago and I’ve whole ass been building it out, framing and all, because of this guy. Thanks for the ideas man.
I learned a new word, "Janky"! Has a nice jingle jangle junky sound to it. Slang for junky. Love it! The table is masterful design. Looks simple, but to think up those longer legs for the dog...wow! You just put some 'glide tabs' on the table surface and that is the only thing that moves, so smart. The overhead cabinets are genius. How do you come up with these concepts? Swing down the storage shelf itself instead of just the door. The shelf and door are one. I'm in awe of your design talents. Wish I had half your brain power. You must be there at 160 IQ level. So innovative. Thank you George for another wonderful episode.
@@HumbleRoad I will. My current plan is: Lounge area in the back, that turns into a bed and a raised top bed that lowers down. This would look good mounted underneath that (this is assuming I get to this before my kids leave home). Of course, if I was in the States I would just get you to build this for me, but until you set up shop in Iceland/Europe, unlikely to happen.
Professor... loved the raw video at the end... I should do some of that on my videos. Folks that don’t do RUclips’s don’t realize how much raw there is before editing.... Haha. GREAT IDEA. Thanks!
Nice work, George, this process of two at the same time, no small task of organization! Thanks for taking the time to post these updates, really appreciate it.
Love watching your design process and love the fun outtakes. It’s great to see you being able to enjoy the process and still share and show your progress. You continue to educate and inspire. 👍🏽🚐❤️
I was cleaning my camper and saw that a new video had come up. I thought so brilliantly when I saw all the clapping. I paused the video and tried the same in my camper. Nothing happend. OK, sometimes you have to see the whole thing before you try it yourself. G, you made my day :)
Boy, you were definitely “On” all week, this week. This episode is as tight a production as you’ve published, here within the Humble Road library of videos thank you
Your designs are amazing! Thought goes into every detail. 👏 Shazam! It’s a dicey situation. I’m over here, then I’m over there. Love your transitions! The overhead bins are going to be serviceable and attractive in the final product. This is Plaza comfort at its best. So, take four, relax and enjoy your craft. Love your videos!
Love your innovations! Your thoughtfulness and care in considering options makes this channel invaluable. I can't afford 80/20, but continue to watch just for all the great ideas you provide to the rest of us. Thank you for sharing!!!
Nice. I wasn't sure of where you were going with the table in a previous vid. Nice thought process. Glad to see you have a vision that can make it to a final workable good looking unit. George can see things most of us can't.
George, your cardboard setups are more well thought and made than some of the big names final products! Great ideas, fun to watch filming and editing, it always feels like "what - already over??" Thank you for all the good work and for sharing it.
George, your work is absolutely amazing. I just found your channel a few days ago! I have been watching van video s for over a year! Glad your channel was on my recommendations. One day I hope I can have you help me build my Camper Van!!!
I recommend rounded corner on the side table so when you go get your salt, your legs don't get bruised. People will bump it for sure. You might even want to drop it down 2" lower.
You have some awesome design ideas! Really enjoy your videos and always look forward to seeing your ideas come to life. If I didn’t know better I would swear engineering was part of your past. Love the behind the scene out takes! 😆🤣😀😂
I've been "building stuff" since I was a kid. Once, I cut the legs off my grandmother's dining room chair while building a push-cart. I knew she was impressed, because she cried for a week...
for the sprinter van bedroom close cabinets ....idea...a net....that can be attached inside and come over the cloths to keep them in place while driving. I only dream of owning one of your vans...great ideas!!!!
I look forward each week to watch your videos and the ingenious design of your vans. This week, I especially like the design of the overhead compartment above the bed, the tapered design and pull down is clever. The ending, showing the retakes, clapping made me belly laugh. Clever and funny as usual, you don’t disappoint. I want a Humble Road teeshirt. 😊
Cool design. Very creative. Hmmm overhead bins, you must have spent time travelling on the airlines. Be sure that your tray table is in the upright and locked position before takeoff.
Like watching Mr Wizard. Magic and thoughtful concepts engineered. Outside the box practical opportunities for creative living. You are so fun . T in C presentation. ok Tongue in Cheek humble genius.
1) I've fallen in love with your mock up and the ability to make adjustments from that mock up. 2) Please keep the outtakes moving forward (if possible). Not sure about other but I got a few chuckles :) Keep up the great work.
I don’t know why more people haven’t figured out a slide out bed extension will make for a north south sleep position allowing your partner to get up at night without climbing over you. I’m sure Humble road has the engineering design figured out for that if you want it. 👍
I am so glad I stumbled upon this channel! Thanks for sharing your insights into van builds! I am in the research phase of selecting and building out a van to be used for Overlanding. It looks like 80/20 aluminum extrusions can make a great platform for building out the inside of a van. I will place an order for some aluminum extrusions in order to start the process of becoming familiar with it. Now I just need to find a good place to purchase the aluminum extrusions from. Thanks again for sharing and inspiring! Great videos by the way!
@@HumbleRoad LOL! There's a story behind the name... Thanks for the quick reply! Is there a code I should use for you so you can get credit for the sale? Just trying to show support...
Great design ideas, Unfortunately I live in the UK. Not many opportunities to sit outdoors. We travel with 2 other couples so need seating for 6 .To add complexity my dear wife requires a full bathroom. I am buying a ford transit jumbo next week. Will certainty look at your design ideas. Keep safe during these uncertain times. Bob.
Thanks for the peek behind the curtain. (video production wise.) Regarding construction, I like your cardboard mock up idea so much I may very well use it when I get going on my Airstream project (hoping for next spring). Keep em coming, we're watching you!
Comments from the Peanut Gallery: 1. Love that you're (often?) using rounded corners on tables AND counter tops to save on hip bruises. You had this in your back story video van. 2. That video also showed a sofa/bed which I think is great because the bed is only used 8-ish hours in 24. But, have you thought of having both sides of the bed becoming a back rest so you can open the back door, sit comfortably and have a nice view facing out? Haven't seen all you've done yet so forgive me if it's in another video.
Really like the way ubdo it with cardboard so u can fix stuff before u start using woods or what ever u use i used to help in carpenter and i wish we had done some things like figuring out window install with cardboard frist and other things cabinets in kitchen and so on
The cardboard stage is more important than the drawing stage. When these clients walked through their van for the first time, it was like Christmas morning.
You are doing something called Minimum Viable Product and using it to solicit feedback from the customer. It's central to lean product development. Good job.
I love everything you have posted in your videos. Your craftsmanship, intelligence, and innovation are so visible in your work. I have a question. I watched your RUclips video about the toilet on the sliders and thought of this. Is it possible to have a toilet/shower unit back near the sleeping area that will allow you to build a slide for the toilet that will let it move back into the garage while showering and slide back into place when the toilet must be used? Just a question, if you ever see my comment and decode to answer I will be appreciative.
