The Vanden Plas is one of the finest-looking cars on the road today, expressing unique individuality. Substantially improved quality and reliability for this generation XJ8 contributed to the consistent track record of impeccable performance.
HISTORY
Purchased new in November 2001 in New Mexico. The first owner drove only about 8K miles during four years of ownership, with service performed regularly, twice a year by the same selling dealership. The second owner purchased this Jaguar in November 2004 and drove just 20,013 miles until January 2021. They would continue to service this Jaguar at the same dealership in NM. We then purchased it from the third owner, who had it for under a year.

A few years ago - after a lot of searching - I found a 2002 XJ Vanden Plas with 45,000 miles for $7500. It was a 1-owner...never abused...but not appreciated as I would have. So, after 40 hours of hand polishing, just a little re-dyeing on the front seats, a new headliner, and new tires...I'd say it is 98% as nice as the incredible example in this video. Fortunately - for Jaguar lovers - most folks are scared of buying these cars...so they are often undervalued. Jaguar began using metal (instead of the disastrous plastic) tensioners in 2002...so that is a better model year unless you can verify that the plastic tensioners have been replaced for metal on earlier years.

I had a 2001 Vanden Plas for 11 years. The best car I ever owned and absolutely beautiful! Mine was Topaz.

Absolutely gorgeous. Of course, residing in France would not make me an ideal client for the delivery process. Besides, I would probably prefer an XJR 308R, although this car is magnificent.
