@John Gordon The Eventide Harmonizer H3000 in the rack (pitch-shifter octaves, multi-voice chorus) plus Steve's killer volume swell control is real good at getting such textures out of non-hexaphonic guitar sources.
I saw him recently and a he had a guitar synth onstqge with him. Maybe that was it? And he uses tthe volume knob so you don't hear the pick attack. Might explain it.
@@davidcoolomfg8129 a hexaphonic pick up, has separate outputs for each string, allowing independent sound sources… If you have a guitar, it probably has a mono guitar cable coming out, therefore is not hexaphonic, so the pole pieces you see on the pickup are all summed to that one output. In other words, monophonic. Steve Morse has been using a combination of hexaphonic and monophonic p/u’s since the 70’s. this allows him to swell the strings up behind the regular guitar sound. Other players who have been doing this for many years, include Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Adrian Belew, Michelle Cusson etc.
Just saw Steve Morse Band and The Dixie Dregs the other night in Albany, NY....they've still got it.....highly recommend catching them on this tour if you can.....absolutely massive musicians!!!
Part 1 is The Essential Steve Morse Part 2 here is The Complete Styles of Steve Morse all both from the year 1991 and DCI Instructional Productions while 1989's Power Lines is from REH Video
It's just the first half of this video but I can't seem to find the whole thing online. I have the VHS somewhere...I'll see if I can manage to get it on here.
The United Kingdom aka Britain had a Friday night show on Radio One and its intro was the Dixie Dregs' Take It Off The Top. My first Steve Morse album was Southern Steel then High Tension Wires then The Introduction then Coast To Coast then the Dregs What If CD, Full Circle, Bring 'Em Back Alive then
Such a genius and so humble, this man is light years ahead of them all.
What can be said of Mr Steve Morse that hasn't been already said. The GOAT.
I got to sit in on a clinic in the early 90s. Just amazing.
