- Customer called with AC not always running as it should. Turned out to be another clogged. Went into a hot attic to add algae tablets. #hvac #hvaclife #fieldpiece #drain #laborday
I’m a retired HVACR guy myself, and I watch other channels but I somehow enjoy watching yours the most. You do good work. Brings back memories.
Thank you ...I had the same problem short cycling it turned out to be the drain backing up at the float switch ...easy fix
Thank you for your video, got my ac back up! 110 degree weather; it was looking bad…..
Your Ames fork meter is actually true RMS responding, as it's built on the DTM0660L/HY12P65 DMM on a chip, which includes a DSP based TRMS converter. It's a nice unadvertised bonus.
Nice work
Nice job
Great video! What was that tool you used to remove service caps?
The best startup sound I've heard

Nice bag, which bag is that one, I have my eye on the MB-MCT
@hvacguy can you do a video on your wireless fieldpiece guauges what you like what you don't like
Comment. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
What is this tie down on the condensor 😅
I have an autochangeover thermostat and it turns on the air sometimes on a balmy day in January and I just let it.
Hello, I live in South Florida and I have a brand new AC (2 weeks old) ever since it was installed, it runs for about 7 minutes every hour or so. The Thermostat states the temperature desired is reached, and therefore it just turns once (for 7 minutes) every hour.
We set the temp for 72 before bed, and it will just run these 7 mins per hour to maintain that temp.
Now, if I lower the temp by a couple of degrees then it will run for about 12 minutes… However, still just once per hour.
Please let me know what could be the issue. Brand new Ac/Thermostat.
Did you ever find out the issue with your AC only running for 7 minutes every hour or so?
What are those tables and where do you put them?
Tks
Great video
I was a crap
What was the problem
How long can I keep the a/c short recycling before I call for service?
Did the gasket fly out of your high side fieldpiece probe?I see your adapter
No, that’s a low loss fitting.
Nice of them to leave that cable right where you need to walk.
What’s the duration of a “short cycle”?
Is that makita vac good for vaccing drains out?
It’s very good for that. The other day I thought my motor was dying, but it was just the battery. The makita though has a design flaw. The float fits in the filter and comes out when you remove the filter. And with the filter wet it won’t work. So, I’ve got two filters, one where I’ve cut large slats out of, housing the float, which I use for water, and another without a float that I use for other reasons. Other brands like dewalt don’t have that problem
whats with the ratchet strap
is it white or frozen?
Great content, where did you get that cap remover
That’s a universal locking cap remover with the other tips inside. If I’m not mistaken it’s made by JB. But, I’ve had to constantly replace them because the shaft will start turning in the handle.
@@HVACGUY You have to be careful because the tips will break off as well. Not made with strong metal.
@@HVACGUY I have read online that those locking caps are becoming mandated in areas, after reports even a death around refrigerant huffing, sad that our society has sunk to that new low in substance abuse.
what brand and model of voltmeter that you show and compared with fieldpiece?
i need small and useful meter
i use fieldpiece sc260 its super tiny and does everything you need it to do
That’s the Harbor Freight Ames CM200A. It’s a $50 meter that I’ve picked up to try out. I’m starting to really like it. It’s not TRMS, and only CAT3 rated, but does almost everything we need. For residential work, which is most of my work, it’s looking like it’ll be a great meter.
@@HVACGUY I believe cat 4 rating is achieved with probe shielding like fluke uses with it's twisty type probes.

Does the strap keep the condenser from flying away? Lol
I don't know where he's located, but yes code does require they be strapped down in the hurricane areas. All they do is use some flimsy ac straps that are drilled into the cement slab of the condenser. Pretty dumb. Atleast this dudes strap will do something. lol
its 110 in the shade in fla. The whweather man an still says its 90
Was strap because unit vibrates and is noisy ?
No, it was put there to hold it in place if a hurricane or tornado comes through. We’ve had a lot of serious storms in recent years. It’s kinda funny though, because that strap is loose as a goose.

Enjoy your holiday!!!
Stay safe.

I wish my company would let me film the the atrocious things I see in the HVAC world
Nice vid ... Thx ...
#73 thumbs up
I think you might have missed my comment from a previous video. We were talking about using coil cleaner. You said you wished someone made a safe Micro channel cleaner. Viper Venom packs in the yellow packs are micro channel safe and safe for painted ICP/Carrier coils. I have been buying it from Supply House because no Viper dealer close to me.
Yes, I saw. According to Viper it is safe. I haven’t seen where the manufacturers have approved it. I personally don’t have any experience with them, and have been afraid to try. If I find a coil that just has to have chemicals, I may try it. I think I’ll have to order it though
@@HVACGUY we have been using it for a couple years now with no problems. Order you a couple packs and give it a try. I think you will be impressed.
@HVAC GUY what are those field piece gauges you're using along with the app?
@@HVACGUY Hello....what are those gauges you're using along with the app?
@@joemcfarland3491 he is using Fieldpiece Smart probes.
