Tassawuf is a way to clean your heart and soul by acting upon shariah. Folllowing shariah is the ultimate goal of tassawuf. To master anything you need a master. Sahabas have Prophet saw himself. If someone is not following basics of islam and involve in big sins he cannot be call as peer or wali. True peer provides guidence to his students so that they start to develop love for Allah and his prophet saw and also start to follow them.

Please dont mind but I must say the rule to understand anything is to ask the expert in that field. These guys have a point o view and their understanding but that can only be authentic if they are expert in it.
They were not talk on sufism they talk about the people who not understand the sufism...they are the people who have no knowledge...they not even read namaz they are sitting on majar but never go for namaz....but they not understand that.....ke jis wali allah ke mazar pr bethe h kya usne kabhi farz namaz tarq ki h....jahalat bhut jyada fail chuki h....logo ne sufism ko buisness bna diya h...ye kya muh lekr jyange....

Sufism in India is a offshoot of Hinduism, and it's influence is befallen to Pakistan, but still Pakistan is better, Sufi culture in Pakistan is more influenced by Feudalism, although Sufism in Afghanistan is primal and as it was since always correct and free from corruption
