Loved this video as I also got on the chatGPT van and just for fun, asked it for a pho recipe last week...it was a big nope! The recipe it gave did not sound flavorful at all as it didn't ask to cook beef bones for an extended time. I think it was like 30 minutes whether you used chicken or beef. I knew right away it was off. LOL! But it's totally helped me with Python coding stuff as I'm a beginner and it really helped me understand stuff better (but I hear it also makes mistakes so you have to double check what it says).

The peanut sauce for me was weird too! I’d def be using tried and tested sites for other cuisines before asking chatGPT. It’s fun to play with it though and ask random questions just to see what it spits out hahah

@@honeysuckle I think if you want to keep using it for "free" you have to train it to give better answers (you can thumbs up or down the answers to the right of the screen). Now that I think about it, I should have trained it to make better pho. LOL! Also, you can keep on asking it and refining it's response as long as you're in the same thread since it'll remember the conversation.

I think you are spot on with your commentary: the AI is in the end a robot without the warmth of human touch, and so much of the culinary experience is based on our cultural background and childhood upbringing that vary from person to person, nevermind from country to country. That's why there are many restaurants from the same culinary origin yet each one is unique. Super interesting video, looking forward to the next one!

I like the idea of using the AI to get ideas when you have some fresh ingredients you want to use up but can't think of a recipe. Then take those ideas, and like you said, make changes to your own tastes and intuition.

LOL - love your videos been watching them back to back for a few weeks now, you keep everything fun, light hearted and positive. Just realized this one is from 1 yr ago - I will say that the more you tell AI the better info it will give you. I found with recipes, if I tell it what i have, what experience i have with making things and even how many ppl I want to feed, it can be more detailed with the steps and suggestions. Just subscribed to your channel! Love your content! :)

With the most recent update to ChatGPT, would be interesting to see an updated video of this?
Edit: Considering there are a several artificial large language model platforms out there, perhaps doing a contest to see which presents the best recipe like an Iron Chef, or AI, presentation might be a good video idea, certainly unique.

This was super fun. If you want to do it again, I suggest you see if you can structure your prompt a bit. It helps to give it a role. For example… is it a regular Joe getting recipes from RUclips? Is it an experienced Vietnamese chef? Also helps to tell it who the audience is, ie your experience level. That would give it a better idea of what details (like what side of wrapper) it needs to give you. Lastly, I always add an instruction that lets it know it should ask you questions if it needs clarification. I’d have also double checked on the gummies. You told it to use them and didn’t say to ask questions. It is actually pretty fun when it kind of backpedals… :)
AI is a great brainstorming partner for creative endeavors as you said. But it doesn’t mean you’ll always agree!
    Your mom is awesome. :)

For those of you wondering whether A.I. will take over your job...ChatGPT certainly has limitations as Dzung pointed out and I'll explain why. In a field called Knowledge Management, there's a heirarcy of information. Here's the order from the lowest to highest: 1) data, 2) information, 3) knowedge and 4) wisdom. Obviously, A.I. can recommend a specific recipe, but it isn't at a point where it can get into the nitty gritty....by suggesting substitutions or recommending certain tips and and tricks. In other words A.I. in the form of ChatGPT can't acquire the knowedge nor develop any widsom because the top two levels are based on experience. Over time, A.I. might be able to gauge whether this or that is a popular recipe based on the number of request it receives. But it's not gaining any experience in the practice of cooking. Although there might be some cool tasks A.I. can perfom, it will have difficulty rising above its current performance level.

Interesting. Chat GPT has been learning! I entered the exact same thing one year later and got the following:
That’s a unique combination of ingredients! Here's a creative Vietnamese fusion recipe that blends traditional flavors with your given ingredients: Vietnamese-Inspired Beef Bánh Mì with Gouda and Gummies.
Vietnamese-Inspired Beef Bánh Mì with Gouda and Gummies
    Ingredients:
    1 lb ground beef
    1 tbsp sake (for marinating)
1 tsp fennel seeds (lightly toasted)
    1/2 cup Gouda cheese (shredded)
A handful of gummy candies (such as fruit-flavored gummies, cut into small pieces)
    1 tbsp fish sauce
    1 tbsp soy sauce
    2 cloves garlic (minced)
    1 tbsp sugar
    1/4 cup grated carrot
    1/4 cup cucumber (thinly sliced)
    Cilantro leaves (fresh)
1 small chili (optional, thinly sliced)
Bánh mì baguettes (or any crusty French baguette)
    1 tbsp vegetable oil
    Instructions:
    Prepare the Beef Filling:
In a bowl, combine the ground beef with sake, fish sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, and fennel seeds.
Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
    Cook the Ground Beef:
Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the marinated ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
Once cooked, turn off the heat and stir in the shredded Gouda cheese, allowing it to melt into the beef mixture. This will create a gooey, cheesy layer in the filling.
    Prepare the Pickled Vegetables:
In a small bowl, combine grated carrot, cucumber slices, and a pinch of salt.
Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soften and release moisture. After 10 minutes, squeeze out excess moisture and set aside.
    Assemble the Bánh Mì:
Slice the bánh mì baguette lengthwise (but not all the way through, like a sandwich).
Spread the beef mixture along the inside of the baguette.
Add the pickled carrots and cucumber on top of the beef.
Sprinkle fresh cilantro leaves and optional chili slices for a fresh, spicy kick.
    Add the Gummies (Fusion Twist):
Take the gummy candies and cut them into small pieces. Add them to the sandwich, either inside or as a topping. This will give an unexpected burst of sweetness and a chewy texture that contrasts with the savory beef and cheese.
    Serve:
Serve your fusion-style Bánh Mì immediately, either as a fun snack or a full meal.
    Flavor Profile:
Savory: From the marinated ground beef, soy sauce, and fish sauce.
Cheesy & Rich: From the Gouda cheese mixed into the beef.
Crunchy & Fresh: From the pickled carrots and cucumbers.
Sweet & Chewy: The gummy candies bring a surprising burst of sweetness and texture.
Herbal & Warm: The fennel seeds give an aromatic, slightly licorice-like note that pairs with the richness of the beef.
This recipe is a playful mix of traditional Vietnamese flavors (from the bánh mì and pickled vegetables) and unexpected twists (like the Gouda and gummies). Enjoy the creativity of the fusion!

My a/c app does random AI generated recipes oddly and I tried it last night. Oof. I wanted a creamy chicken and rice dish that was a slow cooker recipe. It wanted 1 cup of white rice and only a half a cup of chicken broth. I was like oooohhh hun that’s not enough liquid to rice. So I added more liquid so I wouldn’t just have dry crunchy rice. Also only seasoning was salt, pepper, AND A CUP OF PARSLEY! So I added garlic powder and onion powder at least for something.
All-in-all the recipe wasn’t too bad but I figured I’d tweak it a bit more and make it a casserole dish with most things being made on the stovetop first.

You should do a part two. Gpt4o is much better. This is the new answer to the same prompt:
Sure! Here's a creative Vietnamese fusion appetizer for four:
**Crispy Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce**
    **Ingredients:**
    *For the Spring Rolls:*
    - 8 rice paper wrappers
    - 200g shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
    - 100g pork belly, thinly sliced
    - 1 carrot, julienned
    - 1 cucumber, julienned
    - 1/2 cup bean sprouts
    - 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
    - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
    - 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
    - 50g rice vermicelli, cooked and drained
    - Vegetable oil for frying
*For the Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce:*
    - 1 ripe mango, peeled and diced
    - 1 clove garlic, minced
    - 1 small red chili, chopped
    - 1 tablespoon fish sauce
    - 1 tablespoon lime juice
    - 1 teaspoon sugar
    - 1 tablespoon water
    **Instructions:**
    1. **Prepare the Filling:**
    - In a medium pan, cook the chopped shrimp and sliced pork belly until fully cooked. Set aside to cool.
    - Once cooled, combine the shrimp, pork, carrot, cucumber, bean sprouts, mint, cilantro, basil, and cooked rice vermicelli in a large bowl.
    2. **Assemble the Spring Rolls:**
    - Dip a rice paper wrapper in warm water for about 10 seconds until it softens. Lay it flat on a clean surface.
    - Place a small portion of the filling mixture on the bottom third of the wrapper. Fold the sides inward, then roll tightly from the bottom up, securing the filling inside.
    - Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
    3. **Fry the Spring Rolls:**
    - Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
    - Fry the spring rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
    - Remove and drain on paper towels.
    4. **Prepare the Spicy Mango Dipping Sauce:**
    - In a blender, combine the mango, garlic, red chili, fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and water. Blend until smooth.
    - Adjust seasoning to taste.
    5. **Serve:**
    - Arrange the crispy spring rolls on a platter and serve with the spicy mango dipping sauce on the side.
    Enjoy your Vietnamese fusion appetizer!

But in all seriousness, I doubt AI will take it over. As speculated by Farrell McGuire, AI is basically a person in a perpetual lucid dream; it understands the BASIC concept and portrays in it a way that is recognizable, but it does not grasp reality firm enough to actually make it cohesive.
