Hi 😄 Thank you for commenting. Dalca is basically a Sambar dish regardless adding chicken or mutton. Typically, we use fish curry powder to make Sambar dishes, for example, like this one Dalca recipe. Fish or Meat curry powder; it's all mix of spice blends. Only fine blend mixture of spices. Nor fish or meat was added to them (spice mix aka curry powder) so technically it doesn't matter what curry powder you're adding when cooking, especially for a Sambar dish because cooking is an art. If you like you can do some experiment as for your curiosity do test out fish and meat curry powder. Some like to use fish, and some like to use meat curry powder. It's all depends on taste and individual desire. I encourage you try out the recipe but do let us know how it tastes if you use meat curry powder instead. Sharing knowledge is an acknowledgment. I hope this helps you out dear 😄 Have a good one 🙂
Hi Sista.... tried today and I must say it was EXCELLENT! Never tried with fish curry powder before, no smell or taste of fish curry at all only taste like authentic Dalcha 😋
Hi aunty I did this again for my in laws they said this was the best dalcha they ever tasted ! It’s indeed too good thank you. Everyone please try this out and share
My first time ever cooking mutton and i tried this recipe out for my husband who loves mutton. It was so awesome that he told me he wants me to make this once a month for him from now on. i followed the recipe exactly but i omitted the yoghurt as i didn’t hv it at home, however it was still unbelievably tasty. We ate it with idli that i had steamed. Thank you for this lovely recipe.
Amma, I live in the United States now and it can be very difficult for me to get the taste of home cooked food here, which is authentic Singaporean Indian food. I am so thankful and grateful for your channel as it reminds me of my late grandmother’s cooking. Because of you, I can cook and get the taste of home here in America. Thank you so much and please continue to do what you do. God bless! ❤️

Hi! This recipe serves about 6-10 people but if you would like to make for 20 pax, I suggest double the recipe. You can also adjust the dhal, mutton and water ratio so that it enough and still tasty to eat. Hope this helps you out 🥰
I will be attempting this dalcha recipe this weekend. I can tell from the list of ingredients, it is an AWESOME recipe! Thank you for this great demo, love the quality of it. Best wishes to your channel ❤️
So I made this today, and it turned out really nice! Very fragrant and full of flavour. Well worth the effort as it does take a bit of time and ingredients. Many thanks for sharing the recipe ❤️
Hi sis, if I do not have pressure cooker, how can I make this? I have been doing all your recipes every weekend and my family thinks I am the best cook. All thanks to you sis.
That's wonderful to hear dear 😄 Good job 😍 For the mutton you can cook over the stove but it would take sometime. I suggest you to invest in a pressure cooker. It ease out the process and saves gas too.
Hi! Not mutton curry powder dear we added fish curry powder for this. Do check ingredients in the description box for more details about the recipe. I hope this helps you dear 😃
Hi! Depend on your preference ye. I would use 1/2 of the Kara Coconut Milk (Small Box/200ML) diluted with some water. If you want a thicker or rich Dalcha you may add 3/4 of the Kara Coconut Milk. Anyway, pressed coconut always taste better but due to certain circumstances box milk is convenient too.
Hi! You may cook over the stove dear. Just let it boil for 30+ minutes. It takes some time and gas too. Try yo invest in a pressure cooker. It makes life very much easier.
But how come it's fish curry powder for meat dalcha? How would you justify that?

Yes, correct 😄 You may see the ingredients in the description dear 😄
Hi Amma can I use this same method but just using vegetables and not using mutton?
Yes, sure.
@@AmmaSamayalFoodChannel Amma I have one more question following all this steps but without adding mutton will I still have the dalcha curry taste?
Hi! I would say it won't be 100% dalca flavor but it's would be more to a veg sambar flavor.
Just try the recipe was so finger licking good 😋

If you add milk and let it boil, won't it curdle?

If I don’t use coconut milk is it ok?
Ya, sure but substitute with Evaporated milk or powdered milk. This ensure you get the rich Dalcha consistency. Hope this helps you out.
