I love the antique Victorian pin you acquired. Fits you like the lady that you are. You could be related to these people, the german side of them.

You are too kind! My family is of English ancestry and in the U.S. since the late 1600's. Of course, I married a German which is ironic with the British Royal Family's lineage.

What a great collection. I like the pin the most. Did the seller know what it is what it was when she offered it? With your videos you not only present interesting items you also offer a history lesson. Thank you.

I think the seller had no idea until the order arrived. She listed with a complete description of the backstamps, etc. It was a find that brought joy twice. 😉

Thank you, Lady Mary Beth. This is very interesting, and you have presented this so expertly. I love all of your objects, especially the silver crown pin, and the glass plate. I have commemorative items from the era of each monarch after Queen Victoria (except for Edward VIII), and also an item for Prince William & Kate's firstborn son. In Canada, we celebrate the third Monday in May as Victoria Day (unless the 24th of May is actually a Monday), and also for the current Queen's birthday. It is a holiday across most of Canada. I often deck out one of my cabinets with my plates, Doulton character jugs (Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II), and other "royal" items. You might be interested in searching on Google for Toronto's Queen Alexandra Gates. A site called Taylor on History has an excellent account, about the visit of the future King George V and Mary, and the beautiful gates. Toronto also had a King Edward VIII post office (now a condo tower, but the main facade was retained), and I live close to a Edward VII former post office, which still has the stone letters E R 1905. Thanks again for such an interesting presentation.

Though an American and lifelong Anglophile (maiden name being Browning), I do not have a single item of commemorative note related to the Royal family. HM has been a rock of stability throughout her entire reign and had my deep admiration for her skillful leadership has been the source of my respect. You have inspired me to begin looking at the resources you have suggested to find a few pieces . Once again thank you for sharing your knowledge.
And, a side note, I was profoundly affected by the loss of Robbie you mentioned. I feel I understand what that meant to you and your family. When I lose pets or family members, and pets ARE also members of my family, I suffer but eventually come to be more focused on gratitude for what they brought into my life. I also hope I have given something to them that they cherished.

Sadler makes some stunning commemorative teapots. Have even found these at Goodwill online. Would be a great start to your royal collection. Thanks for your kind words about Robbie, our beloved Collie. Our home and hearts seem empty without him. He came to me in a dream recently and I feel more at peace now.
