Chinese diesel heaters are cheap to buy and run,I've been running one in my workshop for a few years, workshop is 20x20 (foot) cheap as chips to keep warm

    Hi Keith
Changed the media in my small shower after watching this happy to say it has removed the tiny trace of nitrite that I have been struggling to get rid of in less than 2 weeks 😃

Haha 😄 surprising how much room media can take up, I had to put a few litres of Kintama in the 2k pond shower. That's what attracted me to Oase Bio Pads, footprint to surface area!

Hi Keith, never seen that KK media before. Must be some sort of stone as a ceramic media would crumble if you lobbed it at the floor😅 certainly will have plenty of surface area👍
In regards to the cost of heat, you may or may not be aware that mine is run off of a 9kw Thermotec ASHP AND is on a 6kw Solar & battery storage system.
At the start of January i had to raise my pond of 10,000 litres from 10c up to 21c, to aid a fish heal efficiently from a knock it had taken.
During that month at 21c, if you offset the generation of solar electricity to the consumption of the ASHP, altogether it cost me a total of £14 to heat the pond to 21c and maintain right throughout January. Without the solar you can expect that to be at least double, which still isn't terrible in the midst of winter😃

Sounds great m8! 👍 I've gone and purchased a 5k mini ashp! Coming up...

@KoiKicks yeah they look good. I'm toying with one for the grow on, however I don't believe they are an inverter ASHP so they won't be AS cost effective. Should still be quite good though if the building is well insulated that the pool is in👍 but if you are only using it to keep the water at 12/13c then shouldn't be too bad😃

Well, I've got a story on this, I've got a mini one yes, not inverter but not the box type which I wasn't keen on. Got the Superior Wellness R32 at a price I simply had to take a risk, I thought I was going to receive a box of bricks 😆 🤣 tbh. And yes 12c winter, ramping up for a consistent 24c over summer in to Autumn and ramp down to 12!

Hi m8, I've left it but made a plate at the top with holes every 1 inch to disperse the water better, working mint now! Thanks

I’ve puta ASHP on my indoor grow on pond (450 gallons) last season and from May 15th to October 25th keeping at 24c it cost me £71. It’s a Nano ASHP and it came from Koi Water Barn and it cost me £400 delivered. It uses between 480w and 550w depending on air temp and that gives out between 2.2kw and 3kw, hope that helps oh and it works down to -5c

Wow, that makes good reading, thanks! I've purchased a mini ashp already and it's in position 😆, on next video!

Hi Keith i do like your video updates and your diy filtration
im trying to introduce a 1000W Micro Hydro Generator Water Flow Turbine Generator 220V that i have picked up from eBay for £150 i no that i will need one of my pumps off the grid to run through it but hoping that the power i get from it will run the rest guess I will just have to see how that goes but if it works it should pay for it self ..
It might be worth getting in contact with Simon at up North Koi as he has had solar panels and batteries fitted and he also has a air source heat pump ?

Hi, sounds good 👍 😊. Si has commented, I've purchased a mini ashp and it's in position but not installed yet so looking forward to its journey! I've always wondered about having solar panels on my greenhouse roof on its parameter. Seen a good kit last night on marketplace which looked capable of running the ashp as it consumes 600w. Food for thought for the future. Thanks
