So to install remote start you have to permanently fix a key into the car? Isn't that a security problem at that point? Will it's proximity to the rear door effect the rear door proximity unlock function?

When you take the battery out of the fob - like we did - there's no signal strength anymore.

Tap the brake or 3 more clicks on the lock button shuts it off.
Where did you buy that remote start?
I'm in Canada so this one came from GrandWest in Saskatoon or a now defunct supplier out of Calgary. The specific harness is ADS-THR-AU3
