You are correct sampled from a Bulgarian song. Love the reactions man, thanks for the entertainment and commentary. For more BMTH YOU WILL NOT be disappointed with any song from the live event at Royal Albert Hall, soooo transcending.
I don't really listen to the live version because I prefer the studio one (don't come at me) but it definitely is one of their best songs. It just hits so hard.
and he goes so much more in depth about every aspect of it all superior content and check out his instagram he is also an artist and very creative and he has a passion for what he is creating!! he is my favorite reactionist too he will be bigger than all the others before its over!! mark my words and remember i called it!!
Fun fact about this song. The title is taken from a 1998 PS1 game called Parasite Eve, (Oli being a big video game fan leads to him writing songs that take inspiration from games.) They wrote most of the song in 2019, then shelved it and when Covid lockdown hit, they felt it was an appropriate song to work on. The song was created during lockdown, so it forced them to get creative by sampling others work. The AI woman heard speaking is Oliver's wife. The sample at the start is Bulgarian folk music. The CG visuals are from a little known old foreign movie that fit well with the theme. The entire music video is shot and edited by Oliver and the entire video was shot despite people being split up Going back to Oliver's love of video games, during lockdown he played a lot of Doom, so he got legendary producer, Milke Gordon to produce the song
If you didn't do any research ahead of time then that's very impressive that you recognized it's Bulgarian. It's not commonly heard especially in America so massive kudos to you, sir!
"For some reason bring me the horizon fits more into like my brain than almost anyone else that I listened to" This is so accurate I'd suggest doomed, drown, happy song, can you feel my heart, sleepwalking and if you're looking for some really deep bmth stuff, hospital for souls.
I absolutely agree, they have a way to explain us broken but strong. The song that defines me is BMTH - dont know what to say. I was thrown out of my own house 6 months ago, and trying to rebuild alone has been difficult.

the whole baying for blood lyric; "Baying" is defined as a transitive verb for "to bring to the position of one unable to retreat and forced to face danger" or "to pursue with barking or utter in deep prolonged tones"
The song was mostly written before covid. Then covid hit, and the band wasn't sure if they should release it. But they were finally like yeah now is the time. Great reaction. Have you listened to Yungblud? He is on a track with this band called Obey. He does a lot of genres and he seems to have an ideology for the youth of inclusion and he says if you have no one because your fat, skinny, trans, biracial, autistic, etc., then he and his family, fans, are your family. To add on to the comment, Oli was reading about a virus and that is what inspired the song. I believe they had to tweak some lyrics as well to be more sensitive about the subject matter.

Your reaction is spot on, and an excellent catch on the Bulgarian. What I think a lot of people may not be aware of is that Parasite Eve is a reference to a specific Square Enix survival horror game on the PlayStation (1). It wasn't as obviously horrific as say Resident Evil etc, because it was much more apocalyptic and malevolent. I don't want to ruin it, but holy shit it's a complicated and interesting game.
It's a sped up Bulgarian Folk song or something along those lines. Keyboardist Jordan Fish spoke on it in a Loudwire(?) interview. I think it was Bulgarian anyways.
This song was actually delayed because of covid. I believe they said that it is loosely based of an unrelease russian video game. Also love BMTH all of their stuff is great "in the dark" is really good.
this song is about an old video game. and Oli, the lead singer, actually put this video together while they were in quarantine so everyone was shipped their masks and had to record separately.
Yes, Oli directs, stars, and edits most of their recent videos. You should watch the behind the scenes that they recorded and released while the pandemic was beginning, in full swing, and up to their release of the EP, the making of Post-Human : Survival Horror. Best band ever, still great dudes, so down to earth and super talented! "Ludens" was written for the "Death Stranding" video game and was the first single released, before there waa even any knowledge of their latest EP. And bts of Oli and Jordan writing, recording, etc " Ludens" What a massively epic breakdown! ❤️ "Doomed" live at Royal Albert Hall is legendary. The band, plus a 55 piece Orchestra and 15 member Choir, it was a benefit proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust. Oli, had a childhood friend with cancer that was there at the concert, but later he died of cancer. (Amo has song about him called, "I Don't know what to say" that is just so beautiful and devastating. Love that you love BMTH too! 🤘🏻
Their new EP Post Human: Survival Horror is the first of three (or 4?) releases they’re working on. If you like aggression, and I know you do, do Dear Diary from that EP. it’s short, and not sweet 🤘🏻 then do the rest of that EP. it’s so good.
If you love metal. Animals as Leaders, Achitects & Killswitched Engaged! I could easily list 200 bands that I’ve been listening to since 1999, but that would take forever
Been going through your backlog, love your videos man. Such insightful words and open mindedness. This song was such a needed angry scream at the world and what was happening. It helped me a lot when it came out.
BMTH are masters of multiple genres; the album before this one was pop, and they started in death metal. Other songs by them I think you'd enjoy are 'Doomed' and 'Ludens'. I consider them the flag bearers of rock music atm.
I meant to say that this is why I suspect they're up your alley; they bring familiar musical elements into rock music. For example, 'Ludens' is held up by a swing drum beat.
So your comment about Bring Me The Horizon "fitting into your brain" better than anyone else does is like me with Dance Gavin Dance. You absolutely need to check them out, they are an extremely talented group and also kind of a "genera mixing" type of band.
Yes! More BMTH. I just recently found this band so I'm working my way backwards. Anything off of their latest EP is a must. Teardrops, Kingslayer, 1x1 and the Amy Lee collaboration!
Tear Drops and Dear Diary are among my favs, but you should also take a look at their collaboration with Baby Metal on Kingslayer. Some seriously interesting sound coupled with the aggression you like

I believe they started worrying this team before covid. They even considered not releasing it when they did because of the similarities that can be drawn
I'm so glad your channel turned to BMTH. I'm here for it. Parasite Eve wasn't actually written about COVID, but a Japanese superbug that Oli learned about back in 2019. They started recording for the track in early 2020, just before COVID was a global problem, which is spooky ironic. The video was filmed entirely in lockdown, at Oli's direction, including costuming. It's not my favorite track as far as sound, but the fact that it was so poignant and well-crafted despite total lockdown is incredible. Looking forward to 1x1, Kingslayer, Can You Feel My heart, Follow You, Doomed (Live at Royal Albert Hall), Empire, and Chelsea Smile!
So good. If you like this song specifically, check out the song Teardrops. You will likely really like their most recent EP as well. The whole thing is nothing but Bangers.

Also, the concept of this song was thought of before covid. They were in the middle of recording it when covid happened and they put it on hiatus for a little bit because they were unsure of how it would be received. Then they finished it during quarantine and released it
You need to start at the beginning to see where this band came from. I'd like to suggest "Pray for Plagues" and/or "For Stevie Wonder's Eyes Only (Braille)" by Bring Me the Horizon.
Been listening to these guys for years. This most recent album, to me any way, feels like a mix of all the different styles and musical transitions they have gone through all mixed into one, and it sounds fantastic. My personal favorite from this album that I also highly recommend is Teardrops.
