I'm in love with Seachem Purigen!!! What an amazing product by Seachem! Thank You Thomas for the info on NOT to use any slime coat conditioner while using Seachem Purigen. Good video! 👍
I had never heard of that warning before about slim coat and purigen. I have both Prime and API water conditioner and slime coat but thank god I had only been using prime. Thanks for the tip!
What if you used a slimecoat additive when you started up your tank, how many weeks after could you start using Purigen? Or how do you make it safe to use Purigen? Thanks!
Great tips and did not know about the potential issue with Purigen and Water Conditioners. I usually use Stress Coat, would this be one of conditioners that are not to be used with Purigen?
The purigen bag filter, I have the prime water conditioner. The prime water conditioner says it provides slime coat, does that mean I can’t use it? Because you recommended 2 water conditioners and prime was one of them... help
Prime does not provide slime coat. It only detoxify Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate and rid the water of Chlorine. I never had any problem using them together.
As long as you are using SEACHEM Products ONLY, then No Worries about Conflicts. They make their Products to be Compatible and Active with each other. Just a matter of choosing the Right ones for the type of Tank and Fish you keep.
Hi, what's the difference between Seachem Matrix and Seachem Matrix Carbon in terms of convenience?? I also see available other filtration products like Seachem Renew. I'm starting into the hobby and I feel lost.
SEACHEM Matrix Carbon is a Water Filtration Media. SEACHEM Matrix is a Biological Media, It provides "nesting space" for your Beneficial Bacteria that generate the continuous Ammonia Eliminating, NitrAte Producing "Nitrogen Cycle". For these two products, Matrix would be mandatory, with Matrix Carbon used as an extra option.
Awesome vids, you totally helped me setup my new Eheim 2217, but I have a question please, I have a Turtle tank, with above basking area, with a RES (hatchling) and few guppies, I bought zeolite to remove ammonia , how much should i add if i want to keep it in the filter, i have a 23 GAL tank, will be upgrading my tank eventually when my turtle will need it.
Thomas B what is the BEST CHEMICAL TO CYCLE A NEW TANK? Have a tank over month old and still hasn’t cycled yet! Also what’s the best chemicals to keep my nitrites and nitrates in check?
@@dustinmcdowell7710 , SEACHEM Stability and a source of Ammonia to Start and Maintain a continuous Nitrogen Cycle. SEACHEM Matrix will provide a "Nesting Place" for the two Bacteria Colonies that Produce the "Nitrogen Cycle". Do a Fishless Cycle, start your Ammonia between 2.0 and 3.0 ppm until you start to find Nitrite (7 -10 days), then keep Ammonia around 1.0 ppm until you start finding NitrAte (usually an additional 7 - 10 days). Once Both Ammonia and Nitrite start to read 0.0 ppm and NitrAte is still Increasing then slowly start Stocking your tank. In a healthy tank water should test 0.0 ppm for both Ammonia and Nitrite. And you will have steadily increasing NitrAte, that is best to limit to 40.0 ppm MAX. There is No Media that actually "removes" NitrAte. You dilute the NitrAte Level by performing Water Changes routinely.
So I use Seachem Prime but also a slime coat product and salt. Should I do a huge water change before adding Purigen or is that necessary if I cease using the slime coat conditioner?
Hi, I’m new to aquariums, i have one question Are Tetra products good for tanks ? Because in my country we don’t have your products... Btw i love your videos
Hi! I have a 55 Gallon tank with 6 young angelfish, 7 Corydoras, 12 Van Rio Tetras, and 12 Bloodfin Tetras. I'm setting up a 3-stage canister filter (which I've never done before) and need help with my basket setup. Any video recommendations? or recommendations in general? Thanks!
JJ Aquariums I use the chemo-pure green in both my planted tanks and I am really happy with it. Best part is that it doesn't remove the liquid ferts I dose.
how does anyone feel about Chemi pure elite or even blue in planted tank? I tried the the one for planted and was not impressed at all. I find Blue and eLite way better when it comes to polishing the tank. I had the planted and purigen together and the water clarity still suck after weekly water changes.
Hi mate... I really love all your suggestions and so grateful when you provide all tips. Just wondering if you can give me some advice. I am new to aquarium and I have aqua one fish tank 65 litres and have been running from last 5 weeks and every time I test water my amonia is always high. I have tried all suggestion give by my local stores like I have used stress zyme stress coat, water conditioning, stability, and neutral regulator(not using all these at once) but my amonia is always high. I was also give active bio media from local store but still didn't worked.. Can you advice me something
This guy has done some theater.

Thomas Is the 🐐🐐
I just bought the ChemiPure today at Petco. My dad knows the CEO of SeaChem (Austrian Economics stuff) and Im pretty sure he's met him before.
I love your jokes, expressions & presentation. Very impressive.
What if you used a slimecoat additive when you started up your tank, how many weeks after could you start using Purigen? Or how do you make it safe to use Purigen? Thanks!
Love your videos Thomas, you have been a huge inspiration to me and I hope the videos keep on coming 👍🏻
Thank you for the tips and advice!
Intense and fun as always! Sweet tips. Gotta stock up on my media
are those bongs in the background? If one drops acid into an aquarium will the fish get wasted? Or would the zeolite aDsorb it? (opposed to aBsorb)
Thank you for this video. Helped me out so much with using carbon.
Good info.
Hi Thomas, great vid!

Purigen doesn't remove nitrates, nitrites, Ammonia. It just removed organics that might convert to Ammonia
Dude you are wrong. Read the label is definitely REMOVES.
What are slim coat conditioners give me a couple name please I only use seachem products and wanted to try purigen

great, informative!
So how about if you have a planted aquarium
Will chemipure elite remove ammonia, nitrites, & nitrate??
Hi, what's the difference between Seachem Matrix and Seachem Matrix Carbon in terms of convenience??

one is a biological media and the other is carbon. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE

what does purigen actually do? does it keep the water clear like activated carbon or help reduce nitrates? which is its main part of work?
Awesome vids, you totally helped me setup my new Eheim 2217, but I have a question please, I have a Turtle tank, with above basking area, with a RES (hatchling) and few guppies, I bought zeolite to remove ammonia , how much should i add if i want to keep it in the filter, i have a 23 GAL tank, will be upgrading my tank eventually when my turtle will need it.
I use purigen and chemi pure elite together in my canister on top of my filter floss. Your opinion would be appreciated

i fail to see how carbon removes tannins?, have some in my canister and still the same!
Try Purigen for Tanin Removal.
Better suited for Organics than Carbon.
@@NaturalAquaria Actuallly Tom it DOESN'T!
love it !
Can you use Purigen with Seacham Stabilize?
What about Mechanical and Biological media?
dope shirt

Hello
Here for the jokes
Great video! You have a f... creepy face in the good way, you should play on a movie!
Make sure this guy does not go no where !!!
Good list, but no way in the word is Purigen not #1.
Good information, but I think Big Al has been watching a little too much Jim Carrey.
All righty then!
Lol
Can’t wait for the next episode LOL
😂😂😂😂
Wait a minute. Seachem Prime has a slime coat in it.
Not quite. Seachem Prime is not a Topical Slime Coat. It does help fish Generate a better slime coat.
Two points come to mind:
1. You can behave like an adult. Try it one day!
2. Media is the plural of medium
