Diversification is key. Own both. Growth stocks are good so long as you get in early. Netflix, Growth stocks eventually reach a point where they plateau for some time until there is some M&A or new innovation, or if global economic outlook can be relied on for steady growth.
My own strategy has been to hold dividend paying in ISA and use my trading account to trade value stocks, including timing the ex-div dates; I'm patient enough :).

Sounds like you have your strategy sorted! Do you prefer to invest in individual stocks or funds?

@@MattRoutledge_FP I pick my own stocks (in sectors I understand, either because I've worked in the sectors myself, or I have family/friends who work in them). I stick with long established value companies with good cashflow and low debt, as they can weather black swan events.

It is disappointing you only bias the video towards the minority negative side of dividend investing strategy, a habit I have noticed UK financial advisors do. For the few companies that cut dividends you show over the last 4 years (some due to pandemic), why not balance that with the much much greater majority who raise their dividends each year? Diversify your portfolio between growth, dividend growth, and blue chip dividend champions and above companies to establish a robust steady stream of passive income, do not pay underperforming ‘wealth managers' and commission focussed advisors valuable % of your capital, conduct regular due diligence on your investments and the compounding will snowball. Do not chase high yield and do not borrow conviction - it has worked and is working for me.

I think the key is having diversity in the portfolio as you mentioned. Glad your strategy is working for you 👍
