a thing i like about sport, skiing, mountain bike, skating etc. these humans are not fat like so many others, no big bellies hanging over the belt etc. alle good looking bodies. thanks for great video and good luck to you from old swiss lady living on the estern sea in germany.
You just named my 3 sports before I developed ME/CFS. I was a street skater and ski racer, blew my knee out and started mountain biking instead of skating. Funny. But all three sports informed the others and improved my skills all the way around.
Seemed like a lot of chaos at the start. Too many riders thinking they could win it all in the first miles. Makes you appreciate how organized the pros look. Good job staying upright.
Love your videos always, I'd recommend titling it something that includes the words "[Great Indoor Trainer Video] to help the algorithm serve this thing up to people riding indoor and needing something to watch :)
Thanks for your feedback, I’m going to be doing more of these through the winter and I’m hoping the “raw files” series will catch on putting them all in a playlist, but I’ll try and add that to all descriptions and maybe think of title change.
Thank you, that was a tough section! We were caught behind a rider with less technical skills for a bit so there was some recovery in the middle, but once I got around him it was more strung out on the single track and unfortunately wasn’t able to make it back to the leaders. I need to go into that section a bit higher up next season!
Thanks for the video. This was my first BWR Wafer course. Amazing vibe. Almost gave up but the last SAG saved me with some calories. Lesson learned. You have a new follower. You rock pushing the pedals. Congrats.
I’d say it was my favorite race course of the year! Need to come back with a little more fitness this year so I can stay with the front group for longer!
Great gravel push my guy. had it not been for a couple riders opening gaps on that single track, you would have had a solid shot at staying with that front group. loved the vid.
Thank you! I enjoy watching your videos! Maybe this upcoming season we can meet up to say hi and share some footage! I’m planning on doing all 3 stops of the triple crown 👑
Wow. Planned on watching a few minutes of a couple of segments, ended up sitting down and watching the entire thing, memorizing. What setup do most people ride on this course? You almost literally encounter every terrain there is, so do most people ride full-on gravel bikes or an endurance bike on max width tires for better road performance?
It’s a pretty big mix, but most guys were on 35’s including myself. I’ve herd the course is usually a little smoother than this, but I think next year I’d maybe go up to 38’s… but the road sections of this race are important as that’s where the fight for position is to get into the single track, so you dont want to go too big with tires, maybe 40c at most!
Thank you! I keep two spare batteries in my top tube bag and swap them out during lulls in the race. It’s a bit of a guessing game on how much you can film with 1 battery as I don’t want to miss out on key moments and it doesn’t last as long at the start with it being cold. But you should be able to get about 1.5 hours per battery with filming in 1080p by 60fps and hypersmooth boost if it’s not too cold.
Thank you! it was a long process, first use Final Cut Pro to export as mp4 to virb, then you have to make a “project” for each clip and sync the metrics, then back to final cut to put back together and add the mile markers. From what I’ve seen, you can’t splice the g metrix in virb, if you could it would make the process much easier. For now it’s a bit time consuming
Have you tried the telemetry software from the dev in Spain ? If you have a gPS go pro it’s very easy to synch… his software is maintained unlike virb which seems to be dying.. as web sites etc update..
I had the thicker vittorias on, but not sure on tpi. I’m 170lbs so a little heavier and have had a tough time with flats including this race. I’ve switched to pirelli gravel h’s for a lot of my later races and they seem to be a lot tougher and roll fast!
Am I wrong or are you littering every time you open a GU? It looks like you are just spitting out the tab on the ground. WTF Otherwise I dig the video and it’s great to watch while on the trainer.
They are the never seconds and have an extra tab so when you open them they are still attached. Might have happenend once where the whole thing came off accidentally, but I’m as careful as I can be and it usually stays on
Came to say the same thing. In black canyon at 1:50 you def just chuck the first gel you pull, grab another, chuck the top, smash the gel, and then maybe pocket the wrapper. Great vid, great race, and I’m not hating-but you gotta be better! 1:50:10 💪
I use maple syrup in a reusable gu bottle. It’s half the price per serving and I can add salt to taste/expected sweat rate. And the bottle opens and closes if you just bite and twist. Less to think about when you’re in the hurt locker!
@@llawlor my apologies, the never second gels are double tabbed so it looks like I chuck those each time but they actually stay attached. I did look back to that spot and while I don’t remember intentionally throwing a gel, it looks like that’s what I did. I was in a bad spot with my back seizing up and my flat tire, but that’s no excuse to do that and I won’t let it happen again. Thanks for watching!
RUclips premium gets rid of the adds! Bike racing is extremely expensive and this video does not happen without support from sponsors and revenue from advertisements
I would give anything to have the fitness to be in the front group of a race like this just once. Thanks for the footage, super entertaining
TY! Great ride to watch while sweating w St. Vincent’s new single Broken Man.

Ya can’t win it at the start, but you most certainly can lose it if your out of place!
So Awesome! Love this footage. We ride here all the time. Makes me appreciate where we live even more. You are kicking ass and hauling ass.

Yes absolutely, just did 90 minutes on Zwift watching it and almost feeling it was me but without the pain.
Incredible footage. Nice Job! Kind of addictive to watch.
Thanks for the upload!
wow, amazing effort, full gas from the word go. watching miles 20-27 feels like a 3-hr pro cross race, that's another level of hurt.
Thank you, that was a tough section! Joe, these are my favorite videos to ride to. It breaks up the time on the indoor trainer and I get an extra special sneak peak into the pro peloton.
Glad your enjoying them! I’ll have some more coming through the winter!
We need a BWR stage race like TDF. Great job. Stong like bull!
Thanks for the video. This was my first BWR Wafer course. Amazing vibe. Almost gave up but the last SAG saved me with some calories. Lesson learned. You have a new follower. You rock pushing the pedals. Congrats.
that is one amazing event..Bike handling check...Fitness check.. Endurance check..varied terrain mastery check
I’d say it was my favorite race course of the year! Need to come back with a little more fitness this year so I can stay with the front group for longer!
Awesome video! Love it 👍🏼
Congratulations!
30mph on that first gravel DH section. Good lord..
absolutely banger vid. play it on big screen while on trainer... 😎
Great gravel push my guy. had it not been for a couple riders opening gaps on that single track, you would have had a solid shot at staying with that front group. loved the vid.
what metrics software do you use? I've been having crap experience with VirbEdit.
thanks for video !
Working so hard up double peak and your hr never changes, amazing
Ahhh I was pretty darn gassed at that moment and fighting off cramps so I couldn’t go much deeper there 😅
Great videos, please keep loading them up. Cheers.
Racing Anxiety on the MAX watching it. 💪❤️
I found myself in the video! woo
props, I just rode 30 miles for the first time... learning the ins and outs, I still stop a lot....
Thanks for sharing the video👍🙏
Thank Video Good Luck
💪💪💪
Love these videos mate. I recently uploaded my first long raw video of a gravel ride, inspired by yours. Keep it up. Cheers!👍👍
very nice race...congratulations!
Great footage and effort. I saw a few youtube bike influencers in the race.

Great video. I was out there shooting all day. I think I have some footage of you from my angle.

Semantics Alert: It's spelled Uff-da. Big fan, love riding vicariously.
The good shep
Awesome video! Curious, what is your method for powering the gopro for that amount of time? Thanks!
Thank you! I keep two spare batteries in my top tube bag and swap them out during lulls in the race.

When is saw the Speedplays (fixing flat near the Dam) I knew …. “Can’t get in.”(the pedals) wasn’t far behind. Strong effort for certain.
IKR. Great for the road. Dirt, not so much.
look cold
Great video. You know what makes this video some of the best footage? No stupid music the poster thinks is cool or edgy edited in.
на какой резине все едут? мне показалось, что у всех как минимум 32
Awesome job!! Video looks great. Did you out this together with Garmin virb?

With the hero 12 you don’t have gPS sadly so must time sync or map sync
Any chance you are going to post the 2024 BWR CA Raw footage?
I will be posting the raw edits for all my races come November for indoor training season!
@@jgoettl2.0 Awesome, thanks so much!
Congratulations. What placer are you?
Thanks 🙏- 23rd overall
12:30 why cantilever brakes ?
Haha good question, my best guess is he’s a roadie using an old cross bike
WHAT IS THE W GAUGE ON THE LEFT THANKS
It’s my power gauge measured in watts
What tpi did you run for this race.. Awesome time..

Extremity
This bike is a ciclocross bike or gravel bike ??
I’m on the trek checkpoint which is gravel and can take 45mm tires unless running sram axs 2x then it takes 42’s because of the battery

Looks like a terrible, terrible course. Can't wait to sign up for 2024!
even if its the smallest tab on a gel, dont litter man
Let’s try and not make assumptions… the gels are double tabbed so you can open them with the side tab still on so it doesn’t fall off..
