      Because "choice" is just not helping. Why are so many people obese in america? Nobody would choose to be 700 lbs not being able to move and being out of breath after 5 steps.
      Its such a hugely complex topic starting from how advertisers manipulate which food we eat to genes, social environment and mental health.
      There are studies about childhood obesity and how the majority of them growing up like that will never be a normal weight. There seems to be more than just choice playing into it since its a group that is disproportionally affected by this. There is also permanent metabolism change people can go through that can lead to weightgain while being obese even with 2500 calories a day.
      Not saying that applies to everyone but i think dismissing everything with "its your choice" is just an easy way out. Every person is an individual and while its amazing and i am happy that it worked for you it cant be applied to everyone automatically

      Bro was never fat and decided to have a few burgers and then gave it up. 10/10 bozo a skinny guy like you made a choice.
      How about the people who were overweight as kids because our parents fed them dogshit and allowed us to gain weight? They've been fat their whole lives. Is that a choice? A child at the age of 5 who eats what they're given by their parents? Who grows up and spends their whole life overweight. Factory default.
      Now sure, you could say "when you're older it becomes a choice" but the reality is your entire world since your first memory is "normal" or "overweight". Imagine you've spent an entire lifetime eating too much. Overweight is your normal, it's literally physically hardwired into the neurons of your brain, the way your body works, the biology, everything.
      To lose weight is to go against 20, 30, 40 years of default programming. That's not a choice homie, that's like going against your biology and what you think you know about yourself, your actual identity and who you see in the mirror and who you think you are. It's fighting your bodys factory default settings. Its like a CSGO professional trying to play chess. They're just different games, one feels at home and familiar, the other one you just constantly lose.
      "Its a choice" is part of it. But "chosing to lose weight" doesn't make the weight vanish in an instant. It's YEARS of going against how you've lived your entire life. It's not a single choice. It's a choice every minute of every day, it's constant, it's in your mind, it's like you've got woody joe in your walls tempting you and you have to make this choice. This choice against what you've known your whole life.
      And once you're a health weight, congrats. You're now on day 0 of being skinny, but day 14610 of being fat. So now you need to go day to day, fighting against your 14k days of default overearing.
      But to skinny bro who had a few too many burgers for a couple months and then gave it up and thinks "it's a choice". Bro is detached from reality.
      I'm not making excuses, I'm telling you why it's more than "just a choice"

But that isn't the only thing he said, he also went on to yap about how fat people don't deserve respect, deserve to be bullied, and are valued less as human beings, etc. so I would argue that he was more wrong than right. The things this fresh&fit guy said just comes from a place of idiocy and he is being incredibly arrogant. He is much less likable as a person than the average fat person would be. I am currently a bit overweight, on a diet, exercising every day. It's a struggle, but it's also a choice. When I fall off my diet I do so willingly, I tell myself I can do it when I know I shouldn't and I rightfully feel guilty the next day. The guilt comes from a genuine place. It's both difficult and a choice. - An overweight person who is currently set on losing weight, and not justifying it.

      @@Enigma_Vids Do you think the proportion of people with 9 fingers is similar to the proportion of people who find skinny or fat people attractive? This is an utterly ridiculous comparison. Go outside, and you see plenty of skinny people in relationships; no question. A fair amount of fat people too. This is a bad analogy.
      The core difference with this is that humans, generally, are relatively thin and unmuscular people without training. We tend to naturally develop this way. We evolved as a relatively gracile species, so of course thin bodies (not necessarily skinny, just in the thin range) are generally found attractive too. I don't know if that's seriously being argued against. Reality seems to oppose.
      I think fatness is where there's a relative drop-off in average attractiveness perception because, as a species, we essentially were never that large until quite recently. That being said, it's nevertheless not a rarity for fat people to end up in relationships too, so this is obviously not some one-in-a-million type of case like you're trying to paint.

    I was fat when I was younger. Then I changed my life around and I am now working in nutrition science.
    What I've realized on my "journey" is that for most fat people, it's a mental issue. There's a reason behind the over eating ,it's not just being a glutton. It's often something like depression, not getting enough attention and love from others and so on. If you solve that aspect or at least know what's causing it, then you can make changes.

    • @MobyDrip
      @MobyDrip 28 дней назад

      It's 100% percent an environmental thing. If you're in an environment that promotes it, then it's much more likely to happen. Binge eating, and on another spectrum, under eating are ways that people use to cope with life's hardships. If you surround yourself with good people, and put effort into every aspect of your life, good habits will build upon good habits, slowly but surley. It's mostly a mental thing.

    I don't hate fat people, at all. You want to be fat? That's great. But I hate self pity, it is truly disgusting to show a complete lack of mental fortitude and control. It is almost childlike. Now, we all have moments of weakness and all this, yes. But being fat takes effort. It is habitual and chronic behavior, which will at some point take just as great of an effort to overcome. So don't pity now, you've been living wrong and now you either fix it or be alright with your situation. Don't cherry pick the problems for self pity and convenience because that is plain weak.

    It would be so easy to just be like "I know I'm fat, but I like food and I don't like training. It's just how it goes. Even skinny people willingly eat junk food, smoke, drink alcohol. They know it's bad for them, but they do it anyway because they like it. That's it. I'm a hard worker in plenty of other fields, but when it comes to food and training, this is how I roll"
    And honestly, I understand that point of view. If eating well and going to the gym GUARANTEED a longer life, then it would be a completely different conversation. But the four gents on the "fat side" could outlive the other four for all sorts of reason. You can get cancer, die in an accident at fourty, and so on.
    However, when you become a serious burden to society, that's when it becomes a problem. If you are so obese that like four nurses need to come to lift you up in your bed when you are at the hospital because you have heart problems at a young age related to you eating insane amounts of junk food, that's a problem.

    • @MobyDrip
      @MobyDrip 29 дней назад

      On average, being fit will make you outlive a non-fit person. Heck, it even helps with cancer.
      "Research shows that having good muscle mass may improve your cancer prognosis, while helping you withstand some side effects of cancer treatments. Your muscles may play a bigger role than you think when it comes to overcoming a cancer diagnosis or dealing with the side effects of cancer treatment."
      This is backed by multiple studies.
      Of course life has its ways of taking a soul away, but on average, as an individual, you will live longer if you're more fit. It's the same argument about drugs or smoking.

    • @FromTheAtticTV
      @FromTheAtticTV 29 дней назад

      @@MobyDrip Oh yeah, definitely. But I can completely understand people willing to take the risk and eat as they wish, simply because you can easily be overweight and still reach your 80s. I know so many unhealthy people who outlived healthy people, so those examples will always be there to convince some that taking the time and effort to take care of your body isn't worth it. It's not like fitness people outlived unhealthy people by a hundred years. And we're not talking morbidly obese, of course. But someone like Zach, in the video, is far from being at massively increased health risks as the other healthy guys. In fact, I'd say that the man in the yellow shirt has much more chance of developing health complications with his usage of steroids.

    • @MobyDrip
      @MobyDrip 29 дней назад +1

      @@FromTheAtticTV Yep. Humans all have short comings, all have areas we ourselves know we should improve. It's just some have problems in different areas than others. And these problems have different severities and risks.
      On a side note, Zach (the lumberjack guy) looks decently built. Like, you can tell he works out unlike everyone else there.
      I also think it's a problem when people don't recognize they have a problem, and they then resort of coping. If you just say you understand it's unhealthy, you just like eating, and you don't feel like exercising, then all power to you. But a lot of them just sounded like drug addicts who want to quit, but keep justifying what they do instead.
      If there was a genuine choice for them to magically get a fit physique the next day, no work, no nothing, I almost guarantee you they'd all take it.

      Not sure if my comment isn't being shown because I had a link in it, but you can do a simple Google search to disprove what you're saying. There's an obesity problem all over the world, my dude. Shame has little to do with prevention of that. A lot more of it is a lesser amount of commercialization for junk food and fast-food in some places over others.
      Also, healthy support has psychologically been shown to be far more helpful in helping people shave off the pounds than shame, just as a side point.
