Hey Mark thanks for your help I have my own business and i was at a lost for trying to get a business card, I followed one person information and used just my EIN and got denied for a credit card, I used your walk thru and used my SSN (which I was told not to do because it reports to personal credit) and I got approved for the AMX Business plus only 2k but I will take it thanks again for sharing and keep the great content coming.

If annual business revenue is $1000 wouldnt a monthly of 500 be a red flag? Thats like $6000 in annual expenses. Just trynna get a better understanding of applications

Great info AGAIN! I just joined the Amex ecosystem last week (Platinum, HH Surpass, and BCP). I’m trying to prepare for my retirement (10 years remaining) but enjoy what I do. I’d LOVE to start a consulting company to guide small businesses on how to write successfully technical and cost proposals and win Federal Government contracts. (Note: the U.S. Government is the single biggest spender in the world . . . In FY20, approx $665B+ in contracts. My Department alone did $800M+ and I’m not with DOD). The info you’ve provided will come in handy for me when I apply for the card 6 months from now.

Great video, I was curious how to get the card but didn’t want to flood your DMs. Do you know if Amex sets the limit based on your business income or your personal ? Having a low income on business seems like they would only approve you for something like 1-1.5k which is probably fine since most of my spending is covered by the gold card, but just something I’m curious about.
Thank you! They’re going to factor in both. If biz rev is low but household income is really high you can still get a good limit. If both are relatively low then your credit limit would be low as well. If both are high then you’ll get like $10K minimum
I just got approved for $2,000 on this card. Doing the steps you mentioned. Its not much, but I have the EveryDay card and this I figured if I get tired of paying the Green Card annual fee, its a nice all around card at 2x points on the Blue Business Plus.
I meant to say that the $2,000 limit was actually for the blue business plus on June 13, 2022. I did it as a sole proprietor like you said, I put the absolute minimum you can put under categories like monthly expenses and monthly income For the business and got approved...... It's better than nothing. Type of business I put other and number of employees I put 1.

No problem and congrats on getting the Venture X! That decision will ultimately be up to you. I personally would always choose MR points over statement credit but that's just what works best for me. MR points are super flexible and can get me free travel while statement credit is always locked in at just basically 2% off all your purchases which there's nothing wrong with. Think about which you would rather have really you can't go wrong!
Yes! I’m under 5/24 in less than 2 weeks and then I will be applying for the Ink Unlimited so I’ll do a “watch my apply” and talk about all the details on that!
Business cards are effected by 5/24 but don’t add to 5/24 meaning if you’re at or above 5/24 you’ll be declined for a chase business card but if you’re at let’s say 4/24 and you apply and are approved for the ink cash you’ll still be at 4/24!
Hey Mark, I'm a big fan of your channel and I love your videos. But I do have a question. Can you only put spend relating to your business on the card? And if you put spend not relating to business on your business card can you get in trouble for it or even get the account closed?
Thank you! Amex has openly said they don’t mind if you use their business cards for non business expenses. Chase doesn’t like it as much but also chase will have no clue or know that all of your purchases aren’t for business. Short answer is it’s fine!

Hi Mark, I have some questions. I have a small consulting/notary public business last 8 years. Years ago I had 2 Amex due to hard times my charge card was shut down and they automatically closed the other one. I paid it off and then they offered me an Amex with a low credit limit. My accountant said to decline it😟. Now I cannot get another one and I’m sure my FICO isn’t anywhere near 700 which is why I need to open a biz card and would like the perks of Amex. I currently have a Chase card that yields travel points, and receive various personal credit offers each year. What do you suggest?

Appreciate you! The soft pull is strictly with Amex and I would say you will be good to get on hard pull if you apply for another Amex as long as you use your cards frequently. Chase 5/24 doesn’t care about applications that rule is all about how many personal cards opened in the past 24 months

If you want to change the way your business is identified with Amex you’ll have to reapply for the card. They don’t allow you to switch from sole prop to LLC or vise versa. You’ll have to close the original account and open a new account or just have both accounts open

Thanks! You should not receive a hard pull since you already have a relationship established with Amex. If you have an LLC follow the same steps but just use your EIN instead of SSN. With an LLC your chances of approval are even higher!
Do I need to show proof when applying as a sole proprietor when applying for the business cards? Or I can just self claim that I am a self proprietor without officially applying for that status?
Please just file a llc instead of doing this. If your „side hustle“ gets sued they can take everything from you depending on the lawsuit. With an llc they can only take what‘s in the business

Just got the gold Amex business card with no spending limit. I wanted the platinum but that 695 fee annually didn’t sound too good

How would they know what a business/personal transaction is? Gas, eating out, etc are extremely common business expenses

It is definitely similar! I’m unsure on all of Barclays application rules so just be sure to read up on those before you pull the trigger!

Thanks! You should not receive a hard pull since you already have a relationship established with Amex. If you have an LLC follow the same steps but just use your EIN instead of SSN. With an LLC your chances of approval are even higher!
Do I need to show proof when applying as a sole proprietor when applying for the business cards? Or I can just self claim that I am a self proprietor without officially applying for that status?
There is no proof of anything necessary. If you say you’ve got a biz sole prop Amex will take your word for it

False. Credit scores are not the only thing that matters. 800+ FICOs get declined all the time
Please just file a llc instead of doing this. If your „side hustle“ gets sued they can take everything from you depending on the lawsuit. With an llc they can only take what‘s in the business

Thanks man. just tried applying using my EIN, and was told more info is needed by AMEX for my application. Not sure what to expect when I call them in the morning. My hope was to use my EIN to help build my business credit as its pretty new, instead of my SSN. Any idea of what they’re gonna want?
