Wow. I couldn't begin to even understand why my account had been suspended several years ago and I discover today I wasn't the only one experiencing this unfair and perplexing incident. Others got snuffed out, too. 😂 😂

Pinterest will claim one of your pins violate their rules. And do they let you know which pin? No, they let you review it via a one-time link in which the image is blurred to oblivion so you couldn't possibly see which pin they are talking about, let alone judge whether it violates their rules! Why even have it be a one-time link if you're not going to show the pin?! A great way to remove stuff that is against your agenda, while pretending to let your users judge whether the removal was made in error, Pinterest... #dirty
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Pinterest marking your pins as spam. All you can do is hit reply asking, and air on the side of caution going forward. It's their platform, as annoying as it is, they choose what they want and don't want.

I sometimes save an identical pin to a board because I genuinely forget I already have it; the saved gray box isn't clicked, it has that red save button.
@NadalieBardo ....apparently it is. I am very discouraged and Pinterest is only making things harder, with their making assumptions and pegging me with a cookie-cutter algorithm, and yet, YES--they continue to show the RED box as though you haven't saved it. If you've saved it and you are signed it, it should always be gray, not red. What is to motivate me to stay really, when Pinterest expects more of me than I'm allowed to expect if them? I've had numerous concerns, and none resolved. When they leave you wondering then, why you are the one blocked, there is something wrong with that picture.
I’m sorry to say but Pinterest is sounding more and more non user friendly if I can just regularly use it the way I want to just save cool stuff I see online to look At later or use later. Could you make a video about good alternative to Pinterest cause I’m hearing more and more about people losing there accounts, and that to me is just sad all those hours saving those pin you liked, so you could Enjoy them later and then you lose them..... talk about wasting your time ( That’s scary ) Please make a list of alternatives that are more user friendly
If you're looking for alternatives the only ones that exist are the other "social media" platforms. And you already know them: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, RUclips... the usual suspects. But know that no platform is perfect, they all have problems.
THANK YOU! I have been repinning content multiple times. I always wait 24-48 hours between repins, but will definitely be waiting longer. I know I really need to work on creating fresh pins. Pinterest has just been low on my list for so long it’s been hard to get into a new groove.
Oh no, I would be super careful with that. When repinning I always ask, WHY am I repinning this? In those moments, choose fresh pin. And if you don't have the time, just do less. As long as you're staying active, consistently, even if that's one pin a day, or even just a few pins a week. That's okay too! It's actually what Pinterest recommends.
I always become aware of things I need to fix on my Pinterest account when I watch your videos. I made board covers and linked them to my Pinterest account after hearing someone on RUclips recommend doing that. You always have our backs though when it comes to up-to-date best practices so thank you!
So, you might be safe with that. Usually for board covers I link to the category page on my blog (as boards should really match the categories on your site). This warning was more for the people who create lots pins to their main profile page "pinterest.com/yourname."

I was on it for therapeutic reasons, personally, and now it's not fun or joyful, it's not exciting when you are walking on eggshells, it's not even motivating to stay there. I would like to see them crack down on all of the pornography or suggestive material and all of the innappropriate, VERY one-sided political stuff, yet they pick on me, who does none of that. I have been through that, and I use Pinterest for your same reasons, as an artist and for merely creative ideas and visuals for mental health therapy, or, downtime, since I am recovering from a severe health crisis. I have never saved anything innappropriate.

As long as it isn't happening for every single pin you post and is accidentally nothing to worry about. Look at both pins, you can delete the one with the least engagement, or move it to another relevant Pinterest board. This happens to me sometimes too.
@@NadalieBardo ...Earlier on, they didn't have a notification that you had already pinned it, and it was helpful once they changed that. But by then, it was too hard to find duplicates. I, no doubt, have duplicates from very early on, and if that's why they banned me now due to newer software finding them, that is not fair.
Pinterest is terrible now anyway. I put in a wrong birthday and they blocked my account. Only way to get it unblocked was to upload a copy of my drivers license or birth certificate through a third party. There is absolutely no way in he...ll I would do that. Bye Bye pinterest. After a while, if you choose to give up then yes, maybe. That's for you to decide when it's time to walk away. You have to unclaim your website from the original account before creating a new one.
i'm getting email about a violation on pinterest after not having used it for years. turns out it's for putting content on there they don't want on there, but it's not even my content. i just put it in a folder of pins. i don't know how they could strike my account for someone elses content, just because i pinned it. my folders of pins are not even visible to other people, they're just for my viewing, but somehow i'm causing trouble...???
You can dispute it. Reply to the email and express that. Ask why, say there's nothing wrong with it. That you believe you're following their policies. You can try and fight it. =)

Here's the thing about reporting stolen pins though. You have to be able to prove that the image is yours with a link to your _website._ So reporting an image that you _only_ used in your own pin, but don't have _URL source_ for _elsewhere_ will prove ineffective. Been there, done that. Live and learn.

They didn't used to as far as I know, not for the reasons that they will now, like pinning more than they want you to pin in a day (and worse, in a week!) and for me, that now equates to walking on eggshells. Now it's like "get on the roller coaster, but make it the kiddie coaster, and slow that down to a slugs pace, too". No kidding, that's my grave sin, pinning more than they want me to pin, so the fun is just out the window, because I was doing it for mental health therapy, and art therapy. This is a huge problem for Affiliate Marketers, how are we supposed to promote our products if Pinterest has a problem with sharing/posting the same affiliate links
It's not just marketers they are banning. I'm just a buyer and board maker helping spread links, but I was banned for who-knows-why, and I am too dang tired to resolve it. I buy a lot, but hey, their loss.
Is there a limit to the amount of pins you can create for one url/blog post? I recently dealt with the spam block and am petrified it will happen again. I had multiple pins for each of my blog posts but I was spacing them out 2-3 weeks apart. Thanks for the help!
Hey Ally! If you were sharing pins to the same link 2-3 weeks apart you were likely not the reason you got caught in the spam blocker. If you were released from it then it was likely a false flag. I encourage pinning 7-8 days apart (8 because then you're pinning on a different day of the week) or more. So you're good, as long as you have a variety of links you are sharing not just that same one. Accounts doing all the right things can still get flagged, but only those not breaking the rules will get out of it.
At minute 08:58 you mention the fact that we should not add a link to the pin. Well, then why does Pinteres offer us this option when we create a pin, pinteres also gives you the option of a "go" button to see if the link works.....I no longer understand anything...No link in Bio, good that companies like Disney or other companies can have links that lead to their sites. Go and rewatch my video. I say to NOT link to an affiliate link or redirecting link (like bit.ly) as that is against the terms of Pinterest. Link to URLs you OWN and that do NOT redirect.

When you're searching you need to make sure you've selected "all pins" on the right side of the search bar. By default Pinterest searches your pins on your profile.

Pinterest has dropped comments for years, often leaving only the latest few on, because it insists it is not a social media app. As long as it has a comment section that living people can type into, thst is a social media app, denial or not, and deleting peoples' comments doesn't make it less so. What they are is an app that 'shares', which is social. People don't just drop their social side when they open Pinterest, they are there to share and comment. Is that "non"-social. It is such a contradiction. Pinterest once allowed longer comments, but now is very gagging. That just is never going to get tamed, in my feeling. People are people, and they only want certain parts of their soul there--like, "don't talk much, we just want your wallet here"?--Is that not the impression they leave? They want feedback, but not much. They want you to pin, but not much. Thry want you to express yourself, but not much. What is with the reigns? Is is the hard drive space? Just say so, because people are feeling like they are being told to have fun, but in a straight jacket. I have always believed in the Golden Rule, but not necessarily policy, because policy can be warped. Pinterest feels uptight now to me. And sure enough, they enjoyed just hitting a single button to ban me for who-knows-why. I am pretty angry about it, being very much a rule follower. I have never smoked, drank, used substance, messed around, even as a teen in the 60's and 70's and that's saying a lot, and I'm 67 now and Pinterest thinks they are judging me? For what? I've never even drank a cup of coffee or tea. I am not a spammer. Pinterest WAS fun once. Now, do I want to fight to be back in a walking on eggshells zone? I'm not a seller, but I was a buyer, and shoot!--yesterday I pinned 7 links to vases my sister would like to buy. Today? BANNED! BAM! The cookie-cutter algorithm turned me into a voiceless nobody. But, there you go, they got their way when it comes to calling Pinterest "'not' a social media app". Well it became an antisocial app for me today. Yet thry still have a comment section? They need to get a perspective beyond their own. The users enable it's success and it is nothing without users. The users are everything to a living, moving app. But here I am, someone they complain about. Normally, I am a cheery person. In fact, my big mistake yesterday was to message my sister within the app and say, "Look at this beautiful vase!" Today, banned. Hmm, can't help sellers sell if you show a social-media side. So dang weird. Do thry think they are disciplining to ban without a hearing? To me, they basically burned my Pinterest boards down, so, moving on. Someone will create the Pinterest alternative, just as FB got a FB alternative. It's just a matter of time. Lesson learned, Pinterest, don't disrespect your devoted users. This is great info. Recently I have been making new pins for some really, really old urls on my blog. (Some are from 2011 actually!) Can that be seen as a spammy thing by Pinterest? Within the last week or so, my traffic has gone way down, even though it had been going up.
Hey! Sorry for the delay. Nothing wrong with creating new pins for super old content on Pinterest, I do it all the time when that content is in season. I'd say even better if you are still creating new links, and spacing out your pins to older content.

Hey Shenel, I can't recommend you changing your location or not. Not sure if that will be a red flag. Best to just create the types of pins you are able. You do NOT need Idea Pins to be successful on Pinterest.
They should leave a link on that empty block page, but no, we get crickets. That sent the message to me to find an alternative, since I am very much a rule follower to the best of my ability. Once treated this way tells me I am not needed or valued there.

Hey Martim, I'm confused. Why would you want to save tweets on Pinterest? Pinterest is an image / video based platform. If something is private, then don't save it. Create your own content.

I've had several people request the use of my comments because of simpler clarification about something. Tweets can be like quotes, both helpful and inspiring. That's why. Pinterest started out as a visual link-sharing site. But quotes and ideas seemed to be the motivation for me and many others to stay at Pinterest. I am not a business person, but my word-of-mouth (or pinning) helped those who are. I say helped, because I am now banned, no idea why. With no explanation from Pinterest, I feel discarded.
I am bit confused with the hashtag bit. When you pin a video it gives you option to add hashtags so are we not supposed to add that or just leave it blank? Also when pinning I try to pin 5-8 pins daily but my confusion is say for instance I am into quote niche. I have 10 blog posts with 10 pins each per post. What is the recommended pinning strategy I should follow?
When you're creating video or story pins using the Pinterest Pin Builder, it lets you add TOPIC TAGS. These are not hashtags. Hashtags literally have the # symbol. Well you'll have to create more content. You're not going to just have ten blog posts and ten pins each, that's only 100 pins, at 5-8 pins per day you'll run out in 20-12 days. It's not smart to burn through all your pins in a few weeks then have nothing else to pin. You've got to figure out what the number you can pin each day is for you. Make sure it's something you can do every single day.

@@isaac2k2 That's not hard with so much content. If you're posting 5-8 per day, you wouldn't have to schedule a pin to the same link for 20-12 days. Just make a spreadsheet and keep track of what pins you're pinning when. Ideally, you like at least a week between the same links. You should be good.

Excellent question! When or where did Tailwind say this 2 day rule? My understanding was since the fresh pin focus started mid-2020, they have been all about the one repin per week. Even if you try to schedule repins in Tailwind, it auto-sets the interval to 7 days. With Pinterest, it's better to be SUPER safe than sorry. If you're going for less than 7 days, make sure it's a new pin to the same URL, rather than a repin. I would always let pins breathe before repinning, or better yet let others repin it for you via Tailwind Communities or very niche focused Facebook repin threads.
@@NadalieBardo Tailwind let's you schedule the same pin to several different boards with a minimum of 2 days apart, so I don't repin the pin, but rather pin one fresh pin to several boards 2 days apart. Is this what you do, or do you pin a pin to one board and to another board 7 days later? ( I'm also curious to know how many new pins you schedule per day.) Thanks for your help Nadalie! @@sassyboss2783 Hey! Interesting, for a while there it was 7 days. I don't do ANY repins at all, so this change slipped by me. I will be doing an interview with Tailwind for my channel soon, I will be asking Alisa about this. Either way, my follow-up question is, why are you sharing the same link over and over (fresh pin or repin)? Why do you feel the need? If it's because no one is clicking, then work on your pins. If you want more reshares/repins, then use Tailwind Communities. In terms of what I do, I do NOT repin any of my pins at all. It's a waste of time, as far as I can see. You'll notice that even repins are no longer editable (can't change description or tiles, nothing is there). Pinterest has said that those duplicates do not show up for your audience. I schedule 3-6 fresh pins a day, depending on the day of the week. Typically, I do not share the same link again for a few weeks because I have so much content. I do make exceptions for seasonal content, but always fresh, never repinned. I just uploaded a new video about my entire workflow. Check it out!
@@NadalieBardo interesting... I was pinning 2 new pins a day and pinned them to about 6 boars with 2 days spaced apart and that was going really well. Then my Pinterest view started dropping so I started spacing pins more days apart and to less boards but that made my Pinterest traffic to my blog go down... Pinterest is so confusing...
@@sassyboss2783 hmm.. . this is very much a dated strategy now, I don't think it works anymore. This is why you're seeing diminishing returns with it. Just focus on creating more fresh pins, less repinning, and creating more content that takes advantage of seasonal trends. And of course, good SEO!

Officially, they say 3 strikes, but don't count on it. I've seen accounts that made one mistake (or no mistakes) get flagged, and other big accounts who I have personally filled literally over a hundred copyright complaints against never get shut down. Better safe than sorry.

I made board covers and linked them to my Pinterest account after hearing someone on RUclips recommend doing that. You always have our backs though when it comes to up-to-date best practices so thank you!
So, you might be safe with that. Usually for board covers I link to the category page on my blog (as boards should really match the categories on your site). This warning was more for the people who create lots pins to their main profile page "pinterest.com/yourname."

I was on it for therapeutic reasons, personally, and now it's not fun or joyful, it's not exciting when you are walking on eggshells, it's not even motivating to stay there. I would like to see them crack down on all of the pornography or suggestive material and all of the innappropriate, VERY one-sided political stuff, yet they pick on me, who does none of that. I just don't trust a site that dumps you without reaching out first. Just because I pin a lot at once does nOT mean I'm a spammer-- I'm not even a seller, only a buyer.

I have been through that, and I use Pinterest for your same reasons, as an artist and for merely creative ideas and visuals for mental health therapy, or, downtime, since I am recovering from a severe health crisis. I have never saved anything innappropriate.

What happens if you accidentally pin a pin to the same board twice because of a glitch where it doesn't say it is saved?
As long as it isn't happening for every single pin you post and is accidentally nothing to worry about. Look at both pins, you can delete the one with the least engagement, or move it to another relevant Pinterest board. This happens to me sometimes too.

I, no doubt, have duplicates from very early on, and if that's why they banned me now due to newer software finding them, that is not fair.
Pinterest is terrible now anyway. I put in a wrong birthday and they blocked my account. Only way to get it unblocked was to upload a copy of my drivers license or birth certificate through a third party. There is absolutely no way in he...ll I would do that. Bye Bye pinterest. After a while, if you choose to give up then yes, maybe. That's for you to decide when it's time to walk away. You have to unclaim your website from the original account before creating a new one.

i'm getting email about a violation on pinterest after not having used it for years. turns out it's for putting content on there they don't want on there, but it's not even my content. i just put it in a folder of pins. i don't know how they could strike my account for someone elses content, just because i pinned it. my folders of pins are not even visible to other people, they're just for my viewing, but somehow i'm causing trouble...???
Pinterest keeps deleting pins for 'violations' and when I look at the image they removed, there's absolutely *NOTHING* wrong with it. 🙄
You can dispute it. Reply to the email and express that. Ask why, say there's nothing wrong with it. That you believe you're following their policies. You can try and fight it. =)

Here's the thing about reporting stolen pins though. You have to be able to prove that the image is yours with a link to your _website._ So reporting an image that you _only_ used in your own pin, but don't have _URL source_ for _elsewhere_ will prove ineffective. Been there, done that. Live and learn.

They didn't used to as far as I know, not for the reasons that they will now, like pinning more than they want you to pin in a day (and worse, in a week!) and for me, that now equates to walking on eggshells. It's not just marketers they are banning. I'm just a buyer and board maker helping spread links, but I was banned for who-knows-why, and I am too dang tired to resolve it. I buy a lot, but hey, their loss.

Is there a limit to the amount of pins you can create for one url/blog post? I recently dealt with the spam block and am petrified it will happen again. I had multiple pins for each of my blog posts but I was spacing them out 2-3 weeks apart. Thanks for the help!
Hey Ally! If you were sharing pins to the same link 2-3 weeks apart you were likely not the reason you got caught in the spam blocker. If you were released from it then it was likely a false flag.
I encourage pinning 7-8 days apart (8 because then you're pinning on a different day of the week) or more. So you're good, as long as you have a variety of links you are sharing not just that same one.
Accounts doing all the right things can still get flagged, but only those not breaking the rules will get out of it.

When you're searching you need to make sure you've selected "all pins" on the right side of the search bar. By default Pinterest searches your pins on your profile.

I encourage you to contact Pinterest support with problems like this. It could be a glitch.
Pinterest has dropped comments for years, often leaving only the latest few on, because it insists it is not a social media app. As long as it has a comment section that living people can type into, thst is a social media app, denial or not, and deleting peoples' comments doesn't make it less so. What they are is an app that 'shares', which is social. People don't just drop their social side when they open Pinterest, they are there to share and comment. Is that "non"-social. It is such a contradiction. Pinterest once allowed longer comments, but now is very gagging. That just is never going to get tamed, in my feeling. People are people, and they only want certain parts of their soul there--like, "don't talk much, we just want your wallet here"?--Is that not the impression they leave? They want feedback, but not much. They want you to pin, but not much. Thry want you to express yourself, but not much. What is with the reigns? Is is the hard drive space? Just say so, because people are feeling like they are being told to have fun, but in a straight jacket. I have always believed in the Golden Rule, but not necessarily policy, because policy can be warped. Pinterest feels uptight now to me. And sure enough, they enjoyed just hitting a single button to ban me for who-knows-why. I am pretty angry about it, being very much a rule follower. I have never smoked, drank, used substance, messed around, even as a teen in the 60's and 70's and that's saying a lot, and I'm 67 now and Pinterest thinks they are judging me? For what? I've never even drank a cup of coffee or tea. I am not a spammer. Pinterest WAS fun once. Now, do I want to fight to be back in a walking on eggshells zone? I'm not a seller, but I was a buyer, and shoot!--yesterday I pinned 7 links to vases my sister would like to buy. Today? BANNED! BAM! The cookie-cutter algorithm turned me into a voiceless nobody. But, there you go, they got their way when it comes to calling Pinterest "'not' a social media app". Well it became an antisocial app for me today. Yet thry still have a comment section? They need to get a perspective beyond their own. The users enable it's success and it is nothing without users. The users are everything to a living, moving app. But here I am, someone they complain about. Normally, I am a cheery person. In fact, my big mistake yesterday was to message my sister within the app and say, "Look at this beautiful vase!" Today, banned. Hmm, can't help sellers sell if you show a social-media side. So dang weird. Do thry think they are disciplining to ban without a hearing? To me, they basically burned my Pinterest boards down, so, moving on. Someone will create the Pinterest alternative, just as FB got a FB alternative. It's just a matter of time. Lesson learned, Pinterest, don't disrespect your devoted users. Discouragement helps no one, and this does feel like a house fire, plus, trying to get back in after this trauma only feels like it could happen again too easily, so, no, bowing out to greener pastures feels best. This is great info. Recently I have been making new pins for some really, really old urls on my blog. (Some are from 2011 actually!) Can that be seen as a spammy thing by Pinterest? Within the last week or so, my traffic has gone way down, even though it had been going up.
Hey! Sorry for the delay. Nothing wrong with creating new pins for super old content on Pinterest, I do it all the time when that content is in season. I'd say even better if you are still creating new links, and spacing out your pins to older content.

Hey Martim, I'm confused. Why would you want to save tweets on Pinterest? Pinterest is an image / video based platform. If something is private, then don't save it. Create your own content.

I've had several people request the use of my comments because of simpler clarification about something. Tweets can be like quotes, both helpful and inspiring. That's why. Pinterest started out as a visual link-sharing site. But quotes and ideas seemed to be the motivation for me and many others to stay at Pinterest. I am not a business person, but my word-of-mouth (or pinning) helped those who are. I say helped, because I am now banned, no idea why. With no explanation from Pinterest, I feel discarded.

I am bit confused with the hashtag bit. When you pin a video it gives you option to add hashtags so are we not supposed to add that or just leave it blank?
Also when pinning I try to pin 5-8 pins daily but my confusion is say for instance I am into quote niche. I have 10 blog posts with 10 pins each per post. What is the recommended pinning strategy I should follow?
When you're creating video or story pins using the Pinterest Pin Builder, it lets you add TOPIC TAGS. These are not hashtags. Hashtags literally have the # symbol.
Well you'll have to create more content. You're not going to just have ten blog posts and ten pins each, that's only 100 pins, at 5-8 pins per day you'll run out in 20-12 days. It's not smart to burn through all your pins in a few weeks then have nothing else to pin. You've got to figure out what the number you can pin each day is for you. Make sure it's something you can do every single day.
@@NadalieBardo Thanks for the reply. I do have over 100 posts with 10 pins per posts but my challenge is how to schedule them without clustering URLs too close to each other.
@@isaac2k2 That's not hard with so much content. If you're posting 5-8 per day, you wouldn't have to schedule a pin to the same link for 20-12 days. Just make a spreadsheet and keep track of what pins you're pinning when. Ideally, you like at least a week between the same links. You should be good.

Excellent question! When or where did Tailwind say this 2 day rule? My understanding was since the fresh pin focus started mid-2020, they have been all about the one repin per week. Even if you try to schedule repins in Tailwind, it auto-sets the interval to 7 days. With Pinterest, it's better to be SUPER safe than sorry. If you're going for less than 7 days, make sure it's a new pin to the same URL, rather than a repin. I would always let pins breathe before repinning, or better yet let others repin it for you via Tailwind Communities or very niche focused Facebook repin threads.
@@NadalieBardo Tailwind let's you schedule the same pin to several different boards with a minimum of 2 days apart, so I don't repin the pin, but rather pin one fresh pin to several boards 2 days apart. Is this what you do, or do you pin a pin to one board and to another board 7 days later? ( I'm also curious to know how many new pins you schedule per day.) Thanks for your help Nadalie! (Pinterest can be confusing...)
@@sassyboss2783 Hey! Interesting, for a while there it was 7 days. I don't do ANY repins at all, so this change slipped by me. I will be doing an interview with Tailwind for my channel soon, I will be asking Alisa about this. Either way, my follow-up question is, why are you sharing the same link over and over (fresh pin or repin)? Why do you feel the need? If it's because no one is clicking, then work on your pins. If you want more reshares/repins, then use Tailwind Communities.
In terms of what I do, I do NOT repin any of my pins at all. It's a waste of time, as far as I can see. You'll notice that even repins are no longer editable (can't change description or tiles, nothing is there). Pinterest has said that those duplicates do not show up for your audience. I schedule 3-6 fresh pins a day, depending on the day of the week. Typically, I do not share the same link again for a few weeks because I have so much content. I do make exceptions for seasonal content, but always fresh, never repinned. I just uploaded a new video about my entire workflow. Check it out!
@@NadalieBardo interesting... I was pinning 2 new pins a day and pinned them to about 6 boars with 2 days spaced apart and that was going really well. Then my Pinterest view started dropping so I started spacing pins more days apart and to less boards but that made my Pinterest traffic to my blog go down... Pinterest is so confusing...
@@sassyboss2783 hmm.. . this is very much a dated strategy now, I don't think it works anymore. This is why you're seeing diminishing returns with it. Just focus on creating more fresh pins, less repinning, and creating more content that takes advantage of seasonal trends. And of course, good SEO!

How many violations does it take to get deleted/deactivated on Pinterest?
Officially, they say 3 strikes, but don't count on it. I've seen accounts that made one mistake (or no mistakes) get flagged, and other big accounts who I have personally filled literally over a hundred copyright complaints against never get shut down. Better safe than sorry.
