🇯🇲That word “discovered” as always been arrogantly weaponized by those colonial powers to mean “we first saw”.
Just bluntly put “discovered” suppose to mean “ we’re the first in the civilized world to lay eyes on”.
Logically, the new arrivals couldn’t possibly discovered our houses after years of us living there.
However, the days of histories written by the victors, not by the vanquished are long gone.
Thanks to the internet we can narrate our own stories.

I grew up with the word "Nyasaland" or a "Nyasa" person here in South Africa. It sounded like it was an insult of sorts to me. Thanks for the education. You won't believe how old I am but still, I enjoy what young Africans like Wode Maya are doing. If politics won't unite us as Africans, videos like this one will, even if the process might take long... Also, many of us Africans were made (today still) to think Africans are extremely poor wherever one went and now the myth is being shattered.. Thanks to many young Africans who have taken it upon themselves to walk all over Africa, cameras in hand to prove that we Africans too, have a lot to be proud of...

I am glad you corrected him Wode Maya. Thank you! This is an example of what's wrong with our system of education. That is what we learnt in our colonially biased classes alright from as long as I can remember. Everything was taught so that the colinialists would be seen as superior and possessing advanced knowledge compared to us. This is what Mr Dzombe and Mr Kalinda were refering to when you were with them. It's way, way past time to teach our people the truth about ourselves as Africans.

    🇯🇲You came thru again Maya!!!
I’m pleasantly surprise how hugh Lake Malawi is considering the country is a landlocked body.
I was particularly impressed by the cleanliness of the beach which circumspectively makes sense because Malawi is “sheltered” from strong oceans currents which bypass multiple countries gathering tons of garbage waiting to be deposited.
Very refreshing to see the abundance of marine life and the subsequent flourishing consumption and export of seafood; thanks to landlocked restriction of the large ocean-going fishing trawlers along the Somalian coastline depleting the resources of a already poor nation.
I suppose their fresh-water seafood diet is less of a concern with sodium intake as compared to catches from the briney oceans.
