Thank you for sharing that. I live on the East Coast but I have been to Sanibel Island. It was beautiful there. My heart was broken when that hurricane came and destroyed so much. But this was wonderful to see how it’s bouncing back. Thank you so much for sharing. We are a resilient people when we need to be.
Thank you for sharing this update. We are in the process of restoring our condo complex off of Middle Gulf Drive on the south (Gulf) side of the island. The gulf side of the island took the brunt of the storm and surge as it came ashore. I was to the island back in October a few weeks after the storm right after the causeway reopened and witnessed the devastation. So happy to see things starting to improve and recover.
Thank you for this great update. My husband and are making plans for a July visit to Island Inn from West Palm. The progress is remarkable and we are so looking forward to coming and supporting the businesses open on the island. It’s such a special place for us and I know it will be an emotional experience for us to return post Ian. 🤗🐚🐚🐚🐚
Hi Larry, thank you for sharing this update. I was fortunate enough to have visited the island about 6 months prior to Ian. I’m thrilled by the recovery and resiliency. Wishing everyone all the best throughout the recovery.
My husband and I live in Cale Coral ..we will continue to support businesses in Sanibel and Fort Myers because they need our support to recover. As painful as it is to see the devastation. We also see the commitment and spirit of the people who live there, the restaurants that have come back…no easy feat ….and the island is recovering ….and we are rooting for everyone there including the wild, life !xxxxxooooo…. It’s amazing the progress they have made so fair…
Thank you for showing my childhood playground. It's good to see the cleanup has progressed so much from the massive destruction. I was heartbroken to see so much damage. I'm only a 10 hour drive from home but it feels like a million miles when you want to be there to help in any way you can. Was raised on Pine Island and used to skip over as a kid on my friends kicker boat nearly every day on summer break and even did the boat commute when I worked on the island as a 20 something. The whole area has many precious memories for me but the cost of living was more than I could afford after Charley, Wilma and then Erma was my breaking point. I had to move after losing everything so many times. I miss home and the smell of the salt air more than I ever thought I would. Your videos are very encouraging for me to see. Been following since I saw your first trip to the Island. Thank you for taking the time to show the restoration in the area. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks Larry I have been going to Sanibel for over 35 years now. I know lots of locals there and are good friends with Whitney Jones owner of Whitneys Bait and Tackle shop. Have been getting updates from him on all the progress being made on the island. Sanibel will come back! I am amazed how fast the whole community has pulled together to make such progress. Thanks for the video and keep us posted!😎
@@LarryWarden Thanks buddy I will be looking forward to it!. I am actually gonna be down in June for a week. Trying out a new place half way between Sanibel and Captiva. I’ll let ya know how things are when I get down there!😎
Thanks so much for this. I enjoyed your last video and am happy to see this as well. Your work really gives a great perspective and is almost like being there.
Great update Sir. I drove through Ft. Myers Beach in mid-December and wondered how it would ever be cleaned up. They are much farther along than thought.
The Baileys Shopping Center is not being renovated. They, as are many on the island, are still waiting on insurance and demolition. They are rebuilding after the shopping center gets torn down, but insurance is taking FOREVER.
Big changes and lots of clean up done. Nice to see Sanibel fighting it’s wat back. Sad thing for so many, can’t get insurance again. Only the very rich will be able to carry this burden. Anyone with a mortgage, must have insurance, terribly sad for the rest.
We are booked for vacation Captiva but ate still unsure re: bacteria flesh eating that the health dept warns not to go into water or walk on beach barefoot. I have been on steroids for over 20 yrs so immune system might be compromised. We want to still come, but we love the beach and water and want to make sure it's safe for us and our pups. We can't get alot of info on this. Thank you
In April , I noticed some of the beaches open, and people in the water , didnt venture myself , but those who went indie not report problems,. Bowmans beach , Tarpon Beach, Blind Pass beach are open on Sanibel , not sure of the Captiva beaches , but did see some people in there as well
I wish Florida would have listened to Al Gore’s warnings 35 years ago. Soon home owners will not be able to get insurance. Then what? Meanwhile, DeSantis is worried about Mickey Mouse being gay. Thanks Republicans you’re doing a helluva job!
Yep, if Florida would've just listened to Al Gore, then Ian would've never even happened! Dude, get out of your fog and maybe, just maybe you'll come to the realization that God is in control, not the politicians. If you can remember back 6 months ago all the science was saying that Tampa was going to get hit! Well, God knew exactly where Ian was headed, it didn't surprise Him in the least.
Thanks so much for this wonderful update.. looking forward to visiting again soon!😊

Thank you for your video of Sanibel Island. I've been coming to Sanibel for vacation for over 35 years. I love the island. It speaks to my soul.
It was an emotional experience doing these videos , a paradise my wife and i visit several times a year when we are in our Fort Myers home

Ok Jay.let me know how it goes
@@LarryWarden ok Larry will do 👍
This is so encouraging for all of us to whom Sanibel is such a special place. Thanks for making & sharing this, Larry.
glad you liked it dan. It is a special place
Great update! Thanks !
Thanks patty , will do a one year one as well
Good job! Thanks for posting this.
Literal Tears of Joy seeing everybody beginning to do so well. 😊
we all have same feeling
My Best to the Beerman's at Island Garage, these people have been a mainstay of Island Residents, and deserve our full support.
Thanks so much for this. I enjoyed your last video and am happy to see this as well. Your work really gives a great perspective and is almost like being there.
Thanks for the affirmation, I am an amateur but enjoy doing these videos
Love how the stripped trees are beginning to show signs of LIFE!!❤️
Great update Sir. I drove through Ft. Myers Beach in mid-December and wondered how it would ever be cleaned up. They are much farther along than thought.
progress is definitely being made
Thank you for your video !!
Thanks for watching
Great update. Looks like HUGE progress has been made. I look forward to my visit soon.
Progress is happening, it will take time , but its underway
LOVE the food trucks. These people all need normalcy! Thanks fr the video.
These businesses are resilient
So grateful that the well to do and wealthy are doing ok..
everyone is trying to rebuild , hopefully their insurance companies will come through
And what about the people who worked in hotels and restaurants with no income and no where to live!!??
This is a serious problem , no work, no housing, they must be in dire straits
This is certainly a big problem
The Baileys Shopping Center is not being renovated. They, as are many on the island, are still waiting on insurance and demolition. They are rebuilding after the shopping center gets torn down, but insurance is taking FOREVER.
I didnt think it would be restored , too bad , but too much damage
Good stuff! Code should not allow anything to be rebuilt unless it’s made out of concrete for all floors and elevated.
What? Government regulations? Blasphemy! We don’t need no radical left tellin’ us how to build stuff.
Certainly will be part of the new codes
lol

Anyone with a mortgage, must have insurance, terribly sad for the rest.
You are right , many may not be able to rebuild
What is happening on Captiva, the Island just up the beach from Sanibel?
I did this video earlier this year ruclips.net/video/ZhDDrtY2eog/видео.html

The island is East and West not North and South.
thanks Ed for this geographical correction, Will correct it on next video
I wish Florida would have listened to Al Gore’s warnings 35 years ago. Soon home owners will not be able to get insurance. Then what? Meanwhile, DeSantis is worried about Mickey Mouse being gay. Thanks Republicans you’re doing a helluva job!
Hopefully all groups and organizations can work together in the restoration
