Days of The Dead Phoenix, AZ June 28-30 2024

Well, a short video for a slow 3 days at the first DOTD in AZ. Don't get me wrong, It was really nice walking around and enjoying a crowd free event, much like the cons used to be... but there was nothing much to do otherwise. If you bought a day pass and didn't stay at the hotel,, you definitely got you money worth! The poor guests and vendors were left with a much smaller crowd than they are used to. Many guests sat around without any action a good part of each day. There was a lot of confusion with guests, vendors and attendees not knowing where to go or what to do. It can be much more enjoyable not waiting in lines and fighting crowds, but this was one extreme, to the other. We felt bad for the lack of attendance. And almost all guests and vendors closed up and left early each day.
The hotel was expensive, even with the con rate, and parking was ridiculous and overall was not what we hoped, for the 4.5 stars cost.
DOTD didn't schedule any events. No costume contest. No Karaoke. There was no after parties at all. Only a couple of panels and we missed the Friday one, & we unfortunately couldn't attend any Sunday because we couldn't stay the whole day ... And VIP, was really a big waste of money, with absolutely no perks to it :(. It was almost $400 for the 2 tickets. There were also several other events happening in and around the hotel, which made any "thrown together at the bar" party more challenging.
We always entertain ourselves though LOL and have fun wherever we go, but overall it didn't feel complete or put together. (or worth the expense)
We do hope they come back and hopfully put a little more effort into AZ next time. We are willing to help :)
