Beautiful. Telling the Lord’s story with musical instruments and without words. Trust me.... I was singing along with words and praise for our Lord, the LORD OF THE DANCE.
Going back and listening to the past year's of CBYO playing gives me a great sense of pride to be a part of it now. A shame my time has to come to an end, but the time spent on stage, the buzz, the camaraderie, the sense of pride when you come off the stage after a concert... That will stay with me forever.
+Lisa McCrissican I played with the NYOI back in the day, and actually with a few members of this orchestra that I recognized on stage in this video. They were easily the best days of my life and I'm awfully sorry I gave it up. It's hard to explain to somebody that has never experienced this just how good it is. The laughs on and off stage, and as you said, the sense of pride! I'm delighted to have the memories, I'll cherish them forever and never forget them!
What an excellent performance of a truly brilliant piece of music! I played with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland back in the day, and actually with a few members of this orchestra that I recognized on stage in this video. They were easily the best days of my life and I'm awfully sorry I gave it up. It's hard to explain to somebody that has never experienced this just how good it is. We performed this last night after learning it at a music camp for 4 days. Having had to have learnt the first violin part at that speed in that short amount of time I understand how ridiculously hard it is. How they manage to play it like that without error will always gobsmack me!
I played this 4 years ago for my school orchestra and im sitting here now after all this time playing along in the air to the cello part. One of the best songs to play even better than the Phantom of the Opera score and as quickly as we learned it, we all still remember it so well.
Every time I watch this video I am blown away by how well everyone stays together. The best example is the violins in the sections starting at 4:08 and 5:11. There are a couple dozen of them but they sound like one. Just to listen to it, it is hard to believe that the musicians are in their mid to late teens. Its a shame this video only has 22,000 views at the time of this comment. It is certainly more worth while than many of the videos that go viral.
I'm jealous of the number of French Horns they have! I wish my youth orchestra had that many!! Actually, I wish I knew that many French Horn pleyers :P Actually my youth orchestra played this at a concert the other day, this truly is an amazing piece of music :)
I see Michael flatley dancing on stage! 😁 sorry I so love that dance show! So different version than this but , both master pieces in their own way ❤️❤️❤️ mindblowing !!
Years ago, when I hadn’t even been playing the violin a year yet, I participated in a mass performance of this consisting of members of every instrumental group at the community music school where I was taking lessons. I completely had no idea what I was doing but the piece was awesome. I’ve now been playing for nearly 8 years. I’ve advanced to the highest group in that music school and we have the potential to play this piece for our pops concert July 4th. I need redemption. We need to play this again.
I've just stumbled across this and I've probably listened to it at least 10 times so far - it's absolutely brilliant! I love the fast pace of the violins, makes you want to get up and dance. From the 6:25 mark I love the 'extra' backing bits they've put in adds something special to it.
I was an oboe player and I've played this before with the Youth Symphony I participated in and with the Orchestra at my school. It is, hands-down, one pf my favorite pieces. Beautifully played =D
it honestly depends. if your are skilled and like simular peices you're ok. if in your 2nd year and you played slow stuff then got into your 3rd year and had to play this...nightmare sums it up
Thanks for the info. Very interesting. And Shaker music? Seemed like one of those groups did NOT believe in/like music. But, done well, nonetheless! God's best 2 U !
I play violin in a orchestra, and when we played this piece I couden't keep up with the music from 4:01 till 4:36. I had to act that I played it. This orchestra is realy good, they can all play the fast parts... (at least it looks like ;) )
Who is still listening in 2024 is LORD OF DANCE.
I am

Knowing no touch of any musical instrument, I am always overwhelmed and in awe of those that do. You should feel proud, of a job well done!
Bravo!
Here in Tasmania, found this clip by accident, and I'm so glad I did. This is pure joy, and I thank the CBYO for it. Magnificent.
this is easily the best performance of this song on youtube... wonderful overall, super energetic, nicely in tune, kept together... bravo!!!

+Lewis Clarkson I'm sure you are correct, Lewis, which is all the more reason I'm impressed with this incredible rendition!!
it honestly depends. if your are skilled and like simular peices you're ok. if in your 2nd year and you played slow stuff then got into your 3rd year and had to play this...nightmare sums it up
+Lance Freeman Jr. either way, bass part is a breeze

Awesome
Awesome!!!!!
I can't stop to hear this song..Anyone have score and parts of this music beautiful version?
I wouldn't be to surprised if studying this theme in such a large group is about as hard as learning the hard-shoe dance as a single person ;)
WOW, they're good!
youth orchestra? i saw a room full of near pros doing a helluva of a job on a very hard piece of music. this was great
This must be so hard to learn as an orchestra. Great performance.
Thanks for the info. Very interesting. And Shaker music? Seemed like one of those groups did NOT believe in/like music.
But, done well, nonetheless!
God's best 2 U !
Never underestimate the Irish (and youth in particular) we have much more talent than credited for ;)
Forgive them, lad, for what they do not know nor suspect.
Freaking out of this world!!!!
the violin parts are great :D
I play violin in a orchestra, and when we played this piece I couden't keep up with the music from 4:01 till 4:36. I had to act that I played it. This orchestra is realy good, they can all play the fast parts... (at least it looks like ;) )
5:54 YES BRASS!!!
Awesome! But the intro does sound much better on the tin whistle. Other than that, this is the best version of this after the real thing
