The reason why the armadillo spawning crashed your game so quickly is because it doubles the amount of entities every 2 ticks. That means that the amount of entities is multiplied by 1024 EVERY SECOND.
idea: take a commandblock, set it to telleport you to a random location far away from the command block so you cant destroy it, and set it to always active and make it repeat itself infinitly, boom, your game is now unplayable

It’s guaranteed to crash your game no matter what version you’re in though so hopefully you haven’t lmao Fill a shulker box with any stackable item you like, then fill a chest with those shulker boxes. Pick up the chest with NBT included (ctrl+pick block I think) then fill another chest with the one you picked up, so you have shulker in chest in chest. Rinse and repeat about 6-7 times or so and congrats, you’ve nuked your game

I've experienced the disconnected from server from a single player world before cuz I play a ton of modded on a laptop that has a touch screen (aka awful for gaming) so my game always lags but certain mods push it over the edge n lead to that world crashed message. I'm guessing they put something in the armadillo's files that is really taxing for the device its on. So i guess its a good thing I'm playing an almost 200 mod large mod pack that sometimes gives me seconds per frame in 1.20.1 so I won't have to experience the armadillo lag.
