It honestly wouldn't be out of bounds for the show to have Sephiroth (or someone so close to Sephiroth it may warrant a cease-and-decist) just show up unprompted and almost end the world

I mean, Jenova is based on Jehovah, since it partially represents how alien Christianity is to Japan at the time
@raisylvaine8398 that's kinda it but also not. Jenova's name is definitely based on Jehovah, especially since she was named that by Shinra researchers (if I recall correctly), and since they thought she was ancient, they thought she'd lead them to the Promised Land, much like the god Jehovah would his believers. Fun fact it also the "nova" part in her name means "new" in Latin, basically making her name mean "New Jehovah". Overall a lot of FF7's lore and terms are based on especially Jewish religion and mythology, but as they've same origin, there is a lot of similarities with Jehovan/Christian mythology too.
I don't know if I agree with Jenova symbolizing Christianity's "foregeiness" to Japan, as I haven't seen any proper proof about these themed being used for other than lore/setting. There is also a not so well known story in Japan that Jesus wasn't crucified and escaped to Japan, with his grave being located in Hokkaido. This story has its origins years before Christianity arrived to Japan from the West. So there is that.
