I think, technically, Chris Redfield wins in the weapons department. Leon's adaptable with weapons, sure, but one of the main reasons Wesker first recruited Chris to S.T.A.R.S., apart from pilot training, was his expertise with a wide variety of weapons.
Chris would win. He trained himself to stand against wesker, cause this one can easily destroy a human body with just a punch. And weapons goes to Chris, cause just his SMG has granades and knife incorporated. But yeah, Leon is a great character♡ I'd love both of them♡

It never sit right with me that the story itself and the fanbase just accepted that Leon could be on Chris' level in such a short amount of time. Remember Leon was just rookie cop who was inexperienced and scared while Chris before the events of the series even starts is a marine vet. Chris along with the rest of S.T.A.R.S. except for maybe Rebecca, all have prior combat knowledge and knew what they were doing when entering that mansion(except obvious surprises but they kept their cool for the most part). It's all perspective, in fact Chris is even more badass because it's so dangerous that even the entire platoon didn't survive. Even so, it's always surprise attacks from outside forces when that happens, RE5 was Brainwashed Jill infecting someone with Uroboros before DeChant got there, RE6 was a B.O.W. clone of Ada Wong who led them being none-the-wiser (since he couldn't have known without access to the games script) into a trap. RE7 was Lucas Baker on home turf, and also partially being OP himself because he makes the most bullshit ridiculous traps anyway. In RE5 he was separated from the platoon, and is only directly helped throughout the game by Sheva. Aside from that, it can be argued that the Ganado's would have trouble killing Leon since they are already simplistic in terms of tactics and carrying out tasks, but they also have to not kill Ashley Graham, orders are to capture. The Majini and every enemy in RE5 including Wesker+Brainwashed Jill were trying to kill Chris and Sheva with absurd numerical advantages compared to RE4. Every level has a section with an amount of enemies comparable to three (I'm guessing so it may not be accurate) RE4 Cabin levels, with enemies all seeking to eliminate Chris and Sheva by any means necessary. There are boss fights and whatnot to discuss for each game but my comment is long enough I'm rambling.

Leon survived against a whole fucking continent filled with Plaga juiced monsters...ALONE, while also having to withstand the liability that he had to protect a certain someone, if ya catch my meaning. An Airplane with 4 shitty turbines can reach 40mph while it's taking off in just some 6-7 seconds so easily, that plane we're talking about was a badass plane with 10 turbines.

It never sit right with me that the story itself and the fanbase just accepted that Leon could be on Chris' level in such a short amount of time. Remember Leon was just rookie cop who was inexperienced and scared while Chris before the events of the series even starts is a marine vet. Chris along with the rest of S.T.A.R.S. except for maybe Rebecca, all have prior combat knowledge and knew what they were doing when entering that mansion(except obvious surprises but they kept their cool for the most part).
I think people just accept Leon as good as Chris because he is the quintessential anime emo pretty boy character of the series. He is cool so it doesn't mater much(He is like the Dante or Ken Masters of Resident evil). Leon went from scared rookie cop to a gun slinging john wick dude from re 2 to re4?

It's all perspective, in fact Chris is even more badass because it's so dangerous that even the entire platoon didn't survive.
Even so, it's always surprise attacks from outside forces when that happens, RE5 was Brainwashed Jill infecting someone with Uroboros before DeChant got there, RE6 was a B.O.W. clone of Ada Wong who led them being none-the-wiser (since he couldn't have known without access to the games script) into a trap. RE7 was Lucas Baker on home turf, and also partially being OP himself because he makes the most bullshit ridiculous traps anyway.
In RE5 he was separated from the platoon, and is only directly helped throughout the game by Sheva. Aside from that, it can be argued that the Ganado's would have trouble killing Leon since they are already simplistic in terms of tactics and carrying out tasks, but they also have to not kill Ashley Graham, orders are to capture. The Majini and every enemy in RE5 including Wesker+Brainwashed Jill were trying to kill Chris and Sheva with absurd numerical advantages compared to RE4. Every level has a section with an amount of enemies comparable to three (I'm guessing so it may not be accurate) RE4 Cabin levels, with enemies all seeking to eliminate Chris and Sheva by any means necessary. There are boss fights and whatnot to discuss for each game but my comment is long enough I'm rambling.

He can deflect bullets, stop the bite force of a mutated great white, dodge lasers, and take insane amounts of damage. They’re pretty much even. I’d say Leon has a bit more skill then Chris tho, he’s come out of a lot more no win scenarios.
Leon is agile enough to fight him however doesn't have the strenght to last long against Wesker that is basically a super human. Remember that Chris became that muscular in RE5 just to be able to fight evenly with Wesker
