    When you think about it, Julie's taste in men was abysmal. Zach Young, who turned out to be a psycho. Edie's nephew, who ended up cheating on her with her friend and got the friend pregnant. Her college professor, which...problematic for several reasons. Dominic, a married man, and finally whichever Scavo twin that got her pregnant. She used to baby-sit him! (And he was also kind of an idiot in general.) Did I miss anyone?

      @@lexiechans I'm not saying that Susan wasn't right to say that to Julie, but she didn't listen to what Julie said though. Susan probably didn't expect Julie to be perfect, but one of the big reasons Susan made it through everything (including events after the divorce and emotional wreckage) was because Julie served her perfectly for so long, no matter how heavily Susan leaned on her.
      It's a big issue that was finally addressed after an unfortunate, near-death circumstance, but Susan struggled to see how Julie might do whatever to satisfy her romantic urges and desires, even if it's amoral or deeply hurtful to someone else. An example is Susan spying Edie and Mike, along with excessively slut-shaming her, before Edie ever got with Karl (it was more appropriate at that time).
      Other than being emotionally devastated by Karl's infidelity, Susan didn't do much of anything else to raise Julie to date or live better. It's still not an excuse for Julie to do it, however, it's something that Susan wasn't willing to consider and truly think about here.

    After all the stupid things that Susan does, not the least of which is stealing her friend's fiance just before her wedding, she has the nerve to lecture Julie on her behavior? Besides Julie is in her 20's, what she does with her life is her own business.

    • @Joe_Parmesan
      @Joe_Parmesan 3 года назад +10

      I don't always enjoy Susan, but she said what needed to be said. The timing was horrible though.
      What Julie said was incredibly necessary though, even more so. Susan tried to shirk blame by claiming she never expected Julie to be perfect, while she put Julie in very precarious circumstances as a child, and would do whatever to satisfy her own romantic urges and desires

    • @EvernightDreamer
      @EvernightDreamer 2 года назад +11

      Stealing her friend's fiance? What? 😀
      Omg... Did we watch the same show? Katherine was the one who made up with Mike after they broke up with Susan, and I think that is off-limits between friends - especially without asking if they wouldn't mind.
      And Mike didn't need to be "stolen", he had his own will, and deep in his heart he clearly never wanted to marry Katherine, he was the one who made that decision.
      I agree that Katherine didn't deserve to be left just before her wedding, but it's not just Susan's fault.

    An emotionally damaged chick. Pathetic human being in the last few seasons. So sad, she was really likable in the first few seasons. (coping with her mom's immature and stupid behavior, acting as the voice of reason whenever her mother did a blunder)
    Really bad turn of events for this character , so sad.
    I don't understand how this change happened in Julie's life. What message were the writers trying convey through this character?

      That being a perfect child for so long also has consequences? Rebellious phases like this need to happen for the person to grow and know their limitations. Repressing them and acting like everything is fine does no good. Also, keep in mind that Susan (a grown-up) was almost always looking for Julie's (teenager's) advice. She was torn between her mother and father for being the only reasonable and mature person in the family that she simply cracked

      I guess that even the most perfect of people are capable of making the worst mistakes.
      Like Bree, the perfect religious housewife, represses all her feelings and urges, but ultimately becomes more human and round.

      How is she horrible she told Julie the truth. Dying your hair and dropping out of school is a mistake having a relationship with a married man is just stupid and wrong.

    • @stefanmakara373

      @@imogenonscreen8054 Hell, for the starters, her daughter is still recovering from a savage attack that resulted in a coma. Why is it okay to be so harsh to her while she is in that condition?
      Secondly, July here is VERY young. A married man with a family is probably much older than her. You CAN get manipulated into a relationship, and power imbalance is a real thing. So there is that.
      Also, Susan here is just dumping her anger at the fact that SHE got cheated on on her daughter, which is unfair- and she is blaming the 'other woman' instead of the cheater. "You know what an affair like this can do'' it was never the women Karl cheated with that were the problem, it was that Karl WANTED TO CHEAT.
      And her just storming off like that when her daughter is in no condition to follow? Nice move. Just dump judgement and anger on your recovering daughter who is emotionally vulnerable both from being attacked and having recently ended a complicated relationship, then go away after letting her know how disgusted with her you are. Nice work.
      I am not saying that having an affair with a married man is good, or right, or even smart. But there was no need to go off on July like that. She clearly regrets it already.
      And for her to say that SHE didn't raise her to do something so stupid? She didn't raise her at all, full stop! She barely fed her daughter while still recovering from the divorce, she had July cooking and making her own doctor appointments and handling schoolwork completely on her own not because she was raising her to be independent, but because she WASN'T raising her. She wasn't paying ANY attention to her, saw things were going well enough so she just kept neglecting to parent her. That is awful.
      The last thing for July that she did with effort was probably picking her up every time she cried as a baby, when she wouldn't fall asleep alone- and that is because SHE didn't want to hear the baby cry, not because of the baby itself. And later she dares to accuse Lynette of being a bad mom? Let me explain if you don't remember, she was hired as a nanny by her friend, a friend who said that she was trying to teach the baby that when you are put in the cradle, it is sleep time, no crying. Which is VERY important for Lynette because when she comes home from work she is exhausted. But no, Susan openly defied that, and then told Lynette that self soothing is 'a crappy system for lazy moms'. Meanwhile, Lynette maybe had serious trouble disciplining her boys, but she at least made serious effort and she cooked and cleaned and paid attention to them. And Susan just decided that 'cereal dinner' was something fun she did with her daughter instead of what she really was- her not cooking and her daughter only able to make cereal. You may wonder why a 12 year old could cook something, but it is safe to assume that Susan did not even buy the groceries. Do you think cereal is a nice, filling dinner? I don't.
      Oh, she also pressured her daughter into keeping a baby because SHE wanted a grandchild, and she kept asking her daughter questions that clearly upset her although a DOCTOR told her not to upset her.
      Susan is a selfish and self centered person and sadly, that did translate into her being a bad mom as well.
