A Silent Voice: *emotional storybeats* Oscars: eh, it's alright, not compelling, just mediocre Boss Baby: *fart* Oscars: NOW THIS IS COMPELLING DRAMA THAT IMPACTS PEOPLE'S EMOTIONS
Theres just so many great anime animations that would and could pass up 80% of Disney&Pixar studios but like he says, the oscars are centered around Big Hollywood American big shots, and has almost no respect for other amazing films from other countries
@@annelien7831 Honestly I feel like Dreamworks is way better than disney or pixar. Dreamworks could take up an anime project as they dont usually do typical american animation.
A silent voice is literally a film about the effects of bullying. It focuses on suicide, bullying etc. The boss baby literally is about a boss baby that wants babies to be the most liked thing
My mother hates animation, cartoons, video games, etc. told her to give silent voice a chance, gave her the Sub so she wouldn’t be on her phone the whole time, she called me after saying she cried. What a movie.
Same situation here She hates anime alot and one day we were just sitting being bored.. She was on her phone and I decided to turn it on TV She saw it and cried with me at the end lol
Non anime fan: anime is just weird asian cartoon and a lot of times doesn't make any sense Me: so a baby corporation that rule the world with cuteness?
If u have a friend who hates anime we're not friends anymore because even if he doesn't really watches anime as long as my friend doesn't hate we can still be friends
Lol. I just watched a silent voice, movie and it was actually worth my time and way more meaningful then Boss Baby. I actually wanted a silent voice to to be longer, I wanted more of it even though it was already two hours. America just can’t beat Japan’s movie animations
Why doesn’t japan have their own Oscar. Their industry does more animation out of every country. Okay I’m gonna ask this a different way. Why doesn’t Japan have something that is popular like the Oscars, to celebrate the best Anime of the year. Just something that has as much clout as the Oscars. Okay I’ve found my answer after 5 months of no reasearch thank you everyone and thank you Abandoned Hope for reminding that America is the best country in the world and know one is going to bother looking at Japan in the same influential light as America.
Its disgusting how respectless Hollywood is. And yes, i thought about it and i legit think disgusting is not over the top phrasing and it fits my feelings. Anyway: Is Ordinal Scale good? I mean, did they 'fix' SAO? Cause i didnt hear they fixed SAO, a Franchise known to be pretty trashy and legit inferior to its own Abridged Version... ?
@@loturzelrestaurant They did fix SAO. The first few seasons aren't the best but the Mother's Rosario arc and anything after is just so good. The ordinal scale movie is good and I reccomended watching it.
My father a 50 year old retired military man who only ever watches war movies and stuff like that enjoyed a silent voice when my older brother showed it to him.
Anime and Stopmotion are two underrated art forms. It’s sad because they take so much time to make and there creators are so dedicated yet nothing happens because of it.
Plus since Stop motion movies take a lot of time and budget..they tend to have the best stories since the producers can't afford to let the movies flop after pouring so much hard work into it.
The "animation is for kids" argument just doesn'r make any sense to me. You have this medium that lets you make LITERALLY ANYTHING and you use it to shut your kids up for 2 hours.
@@falcon1378 yeah before I didn't like anime I thought it was cringe but then I started watching it and now it's my favourite thing in the world🤣I wanna be a manga artist or something like that
it doesnt help that western animated movies do actually prefer to pander to stupid children then try to come up with something mature because its less risky and they make more money. So I can understand where the stereotype that animation is for children comes from.
Lou Minous ikr. Seriously who determined that because the film was created in a virtual interface, it’s for children. Anime usually deals to an older demographic. Mostly teenagers and 20 year olds. Just because some people in Hollywood think just because almost every 6-12 year old cried during a movie about emotions, or the fact that a movie about a girl with ice powers has every 8 year old girl singing let it go, doesn’t mean It’s the best movie in the world. It means that whatever they were exposed to that year is the best movie in their opinion. The oscars are dumpster trash because of that.
Falcon 1 Oscars are hot garbage at knowing which animated movie actually deserves an oscar. I really like Pixar but the Academy just likes to be lazy and give the oscar to them (or Disney becuz hurr durr big company) instead of smaller studios who have arguably made a better movie than Pixar. Which is why Im so glad Spiderverse won the oscar over Incredibles 2 because for once the academy didnt have their head so far up their own ass.
I mean yeah but by that logic so is film, books or really any type of consumable content. Ultimately it doesn’t matter, the film awards has never been consistent with its logic. If they were going to allow animation to compete than it should be judged based on its genre. But alas.
Which is just really fucking stupid American cartoons are just the same shit. The protagonist is a prince/princess they make some dumb decision which turned someone into animals then in the end they fixed it like literally I just described half of Disney's movie right here
Have any of y'all noticed how American animated movies nowadays are always the same fucking shit? 1. Some idol inspires a kid 2. The kid grows up and conventionally meets his idol 3. They start hanging out, doing shit and giggles and build a huge career for themselves. 4. They get in an argument for whatever reason and separate with the cliche "I was wrong about you" or some shit like that 5. A villain appears and fucks shit up 6. The kid is in trouble but his idol appears out of nowhere and saves him 7. They become friends again to defeat the villain, and again with the cliche "I was wrong about you about being wrong about you" or some shit. 8. The end.
"those weird Japanese cartoons” Oh boy if it was at very least that tolerable. In my country people call anime straight up "those weird *Chinese* cartoons" unironically, their level of ignorance astonishes me, they're the same ignorant people who think China is the only Asian country and that everything Asian is Chinese.
I feel like the two reasons they don’t choose anime’s is 1. It’s 2D (or maybe not I never really payed attention to the Oscars so I may be wrong) 2. It’s not American
The reason I choose anime over american animation because of its compeling story telling they focus more on the production and effort because thats what japanese are doing since after ww2 unlike american that chose advertisement just to earn money and nothing more.
stopmotion and anime is the most underrated genres. its a pain to make this genres. it takes so much time and effort just to make some scenes of this genres and digital 3d animation always wins the oscars. the people that pick the nominations should have watch animations that are produced not only in japan.
Honestly, people say anime isn't for kids, but ironically anime films really have much better teachings and emotional value, I mean the boss baby teaches us NOTHING, whereas 'A Silent Voice' teaches us about one of the most widespread problems in school, BULLYING
SOME animes aren’t for kids, but , you’re right. Anime also teaches about respect and good manners , too. It’s also interesting learning Japanese culture.
@@louminouz Anime is not a genre, but a style, there are many types of anime just like they are different type of movies and tv shows. Kids movies, horror movies, romance movies. There are some that are not for kids but there are also lots that are.
Yup, the people who got a head start stay ahead and no matter what usually no one on the outside or those who have a lesser degree of pull can poke through. Sounds about right.
Helawolf No, the electoral college makes sense. You can’t oversaturate what city people want for the country through a true democracy. At the same time democracy is something bad. America is more democratic than republican. If we take the oscars for example, that would mean that everybody can vote in the oscars. You’ll have a bunch of kids voting for something like the emoji movie. If oscars were more republican, only the best, most intelligent people would vote. Right now the oscars are like authoritarians. They’re just out of touch people who don’t choose what’s right like a republic, but they choose what they want.
@@avachys9271 I have not watched the movie. Neither the trailer nor the concept of the movie impressed me. I have also not watched A Silent Voice because even though I had read the mange some 5-6 years ago, the emotional roller-coaster is still fresh. I know the movie will be too much for my poor heart.
You forgot the "Tintin" movie for 2011. It was motion capture animated, made 3 TIMES its budget at the box office, and received great reviews, yet faded into obscurity the SECOND it released!
This movie was great. It was wildly different from the comics, but as a reinterpretation of the story it certainly worked. The videogame tie-in for the XBOX 360 was pretty cool too
I'm honestly shocked that a heartwarming movie on bullying, suicide and redeeming yourself was won over by a movie about the plan of a baby boss and a jealous brother
- Boss Baby: A story about a man baby stopping puppies from out cute-ing babies. A film covering one absurd fictional issue. - A Silent Voice: A story about a teen dealing with anxieties/mental issues seeking redemption for bullying a girl. A film covering two real-world issues. The saying "art is subjective" is true but this is a case of the judges not giving a nugget of shit about animation categories.
@Conor Garcia you can see it on Netflix and yes, i highly recommend you watch it. But while you are watching it, remember that it was beat out by boss baby's cookie joke.
I'm back here, once again, after the oscars claimed that animation is, and I quote, "Something for kids to enjoy and parents to endure." It's like they care less and less with each passing year. Just burn it to the fucking ground at this point.
I hate it and tired of how animation is look like Low tier entertaiment 🙄. Animation is damn TOOL. Stories with PLOT and CHARACTERS and yeah voice acting takes damn talent too !
@MrNahual2099 I think the Oscars could love the old EU of star wars. The public at large might not care about Warhammer at all though. It's not for everyone.
I feel both were great in their own way, but I connected more with Your Name than I did A Silent Voice. The scene were Mitsuha sees the destroyed Itomori did me in, it just killed me to see her looking at the void of where her village was. I didn't have a moment quite like that with A Silent Voice, although it was very moving.
I literally tried to convince my mom to watch A Silent Voice with me and she only walked in halfway through, glanced at the TV, and said "you were trying to get me to watch cartoons?" I'm moving out
A Silent Voice: "Our movie is about ableism, bullying, atonement, forgiveness, depression, and hope." Boss Baby: "People have a limited amount of love in them and our movie is about how if your parents have another baby or a kid, they love you less, and will continue to love you less as they get more invested in other things." No really, if you watch Boss Baby they state there is a limited amount of love in every human being and you can run out. Having two kids means you love both of them less than how much you loved the original, because your love is depleted by having to split it in more directions. Imagine a bucket with holes poked in it. That's how this movie says that love works. Literally every other animated film I have ever seen has a better moral than that. That's genuinely awful and putting it in a kids' film is reprehensible. It didn't deserve a nomination. It deserved a Razzie and owed parents with multiple kids an apology for insinuating that having multiple kids = loving all them less than having an only child.
The whole vibe of the movie made my heart drop but it was so beautiful. It had fantastic music and visuals. The characters also dealt with real life problems like depression. It was all for one a great film that deserved an award of some sort. It was a very heart touching story.
Felt same way about "O menino e o mundo" (never saw how how they titled in English, but "the boy and the world" (?)) Inside Out was just a market bought cake recipe The boy was such a masterpiece from the animation style choice and how it worked wonderfully with all the message and the whole idea about how to show it Inside out was just first few minutes of Coraline or Chihiro or any "kids who moves to another city and hates everything" but almost 2 hours long, and incomparably poorly made in all aspects possible

Barack Obama Mukbang channel I read the whole manga in one sitting in a bookstore and after I finished I just sat there and started bawling my eyes out
Koe no Katachi losing to Boss Baby really pissed me off. Are people who vote for this that retarded? Boss fucking Baby? It's annoying that "animated" must mean kids and that only live action movies are the only ones that are somehow worth considering in terms of story.
"Are people who vote for this that retarded?" Nah, worse. They're smart enough to pull off the "I didn't watch it, but I'll pretend that I did cause handwaving away is the same as a review" thing. One literally admitted to it pretty plainly stating along the lines of "those Chinese things no-one ever saw." NOTHING matters except the prestige and money coming from their insider club. It's not worth the effort to pretend most Hollywood socialites like that have any morals or actually care about the performance they put on. They don't care about your anime, they didn't even watch it, too busy partying, and they barely care about the Hollywood produced films aside from the profit produced. They'll put on a show for those who bother to watch, then go get wasted or whatever immediately after. It pisses me off that there's no integrity. There's no actual reviewing and scoring on merits. But what can you do? it's a party to slap your rich friends on the back, it serves no other purpose. To have integrity, it would need to be built from the ground up.
A silent voice is one of the most beautiful, tear jerking, emotional films I’ve ever seen, coco is good, a silent voice is stunning, amazing, and totally should have won
It is my headcanon that the Oscars are secretly run by Oscar from Shark Tale, who serves as the ruler and god to the academy. The voters are his puppets, puppets who serve as reminders that Shark Tale will forever be the greatest animated film of all time, and all who attempt to raise the bar shall crumble. Oscar, while mostly incompetent, is aware that the Oscars need funds to spread their propaganda, therefore he insures that Pixar wins every time to please the general audience. Every other category has randomly generated results. Where the true manipulation comes into play is during the airing of the Oscars, where flashes of Shark Tale movie posters, symbols, and paintings are shown to slowly convince the public that Shark Tale is the only animated movie that matters. Oscar and his Oscarettes have become too powerful; it is too late. Anime and other overseas animation productions can only plead for mercy.
And still, most people know your profile picture just because it's actually American. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but yes, sadly these close-cultured circlejerks still do matter in the way content is represented in the media. That's why we care.
Pretty much. It's not animated, but the film Gran Torino never got an award. But despite awesome acting, a good story, believable character development and a lot of touching moments it was never nominated. All because Clint Eastwood took on some amateur actors to play the younger cast. P.S the actors were actually the age they were supposed to be portraying. Teenagers playing teenagers
@@Blurro I mean Oscars is filled with boomers and boomers consider themselves mature and a man of culture with high taste but here in this case they weren't enough mature to understand depth and subtle meaning of A silent voice.

It’s ya’ gurl ! Vita Which makes it even sadder that I know they’ll NEVER choose movies like I Lost My Body or Loving Vincent, JUST because I’m almost positive the voters didn’t even watch them due to them being unpopular
I’m coming back after seeing that Into the Spider-Verse won for best animated feature. This movie definitely deserves it, the animation alone could’ve won this movie the award
I am super happy that Into the Spider-Verse won that award, honestly. It had groundbreaking animation and an amazing Spider-Man story to go along with it.
a silent voice spoke to me. I felt exactly like Shoyo to bullying as a kid, getting bullied then being clinically depressed, the only difference is it's not so easy to recover.

@Latrell Lloyd It's true that nobody cares about good films. Anime is not garbage and dying. There are some garbage, but a lot tell compelling and beautiful stories.
Art Colleges do the EXACT same thing! I showed my portfolio to the mentor guy, and at first he was fine with all of my cartoon stuff, but once I showed ONE anime styled drawing, he immediately started criticizing me on how “it’s not realistic” or how “it’s not a part of our culture”. It’s honestly really annoying, because they should INVITE more cultures and ALLOW CULTURAL DIFFUSION to enlarge the communities and welcome different students from different backgrounds.
Americans or "White normies" have this "culture supremacy" bullshit. While we asians suffer from their influence. imagine putting your cheeks together instead of a formal cultural greeting
Claiming that something is ‘not a part of our culture’ is a very absurd statement in itself, considering that art as we know it today has been shaped by different diverse countries and movements. It would not have any meaning if it was confined to one country only. Diversification is without a doubt, the essence of art, as it allows for new expressions, perspectives, and innovations. Unfortunately, we Americans often fail to appreciate the richness and diversity of other cultures’ artistic contributions.
When "your name" lost to "zootopia" don't get me wrong i enjoy "zootopia" but i prefer your name more, and if you want pure love and effort then "kubo" have love to spare, it a 5 years project and stop animation that took insane amount of love to make.
Thanh Binh Le The reason anime isn’t normally nominated is because it’s from japan, that would be like taking a movie from Russia and putting it in the oscars, no one watches it to make that much of a difference in the Oscars.
There is a reason why anime don't get nominated because it has more mature themes for kids to understand so and anime also have many sexualised scenes if all animated movies gets a mature theme then what will be the difference between animation and live action movies
@@SirBlackReeds jacoblgames Kung Fu Panda 3 was pretty awesome, and I'd say it beats Zootopia easily, but Your Name? That was on another level, one I don't think Kung Fu 3 quite reached.
@Epik DABBER It's not that Boss Baby was a masterpiece, it's just that it was marketability accessible... The Oscars voters don't give two flicks about animation...
Horrors and comedies also are very unlikely to win. And I can understand why. Sci-fi back then was seen as a niche taste and part of geek culture which wasn't too mainstream and now sci-fi films usually rely on nostalgia factors and action scenes to get anywhere with some exceptions. (Usually cyberpunk movies [In my observation] are taken more seriously than other sci-fi films.) Horror relies too much on shock value and gruesome violence. The acting and actions taken sometimes isn't believable and it just isn't for everyone. And comedy (Arguably the most likely to get nominated.) tend to get shafted unless there's a story or meaningful virtue behind it. Not saying any of these genres are bad, in fact they're really enjoyable. Just saying that the Oscars will more often than not pick more serious and slower paced story driven films.
@@marrqi7wini54 When you say that horror relies on shock value, you are associating American horror with all horror. Anime horror shows like Higurashi, Shiki, Elfen Lied, and Happy Sugar Life are much more psychological in nature and do not rely on jumpscares and violence that has not thematic purpose like American horror does.
@@aidans4464 I see your point. Live action horror specifically in the states does rely on this shock value formula which gives no rewards. @@marrqi7wini54 Yeah, anime horror TV shows aren't eligible for Oscars. But I just wanted to explain that anime horror is better. But seriously, go watch those shows I mentioned.
@@aidans4464 I think they're better because of time. We have time to establish connections with plot, story, conflict and characters. Can't do that here because the audience comes for one thing, thrills and scares. They may get bored if action and tension isn't established quick. Also, with a Hollywood horror, you get around 2-3 hours to really do anything. An anime series for a season can get 6 to 7 times that in a season. (Assuming each episode is 20 min and each season is 20 episodes.) But thanks for the selection, I'll definitely consider.

That's because the content doesn't matter. Oscars are literally a bunch of knowing nothing snobs voting for their friends, and pretending it's important. The scary thing is people believed them just because there's enough money thrown at the production of otherwise cheap show.
Scarfmonster Yeah we’re just saying that it should matter because it’s not fun watching an awards show that’s obviously a sham but is still always on a pedestal.
If that happens I feel less films will get nominated for one. And two, don't they do that already? Or at least have people that do that? A film shouldn't be nominated if it wasn't seen by someone in the academy.
@Paapa Kermy it made me really sad and stressed and happy. It made me an emotional mess. because its the biggest academy award out there. Whether u like the Oscars or not, the movies he mentions should get the recognition that others get and if u care for movies you'll care these artists that arent being congratulated on the work they've done. i see what ur saying but dont be ignorant.
So what? The Oscars are just a big jack off session between Hollywood executives. If you care about what old Hollywood guys think about cartoons they don't even know anything about, well, I'm sorry, but they don't know what they're talking about. The only way to improve the situation would be to give them advice from anime and cartoon critics, but they probably wouldn't take that seriously, either; cartoons are seen as childish even in the movie critic world. No one who watches anime or cartoons looks to the Oscars for recommendations; the closest the anime community has to that is the Crunchyroll awards, which have been pretty arbitrary until this year.
It's the idea that it is still important because it is so huge. You can't just ignore it because it is too big to ignore. That doesn't mean it is the end all be all, but it does mean that when great films don't get recognition there, it is a huge problem, even if the people voting and such are super biased. It's like saying who cares about the electoral college anyways, they are just a bunch of stuck up white folks who don't give a crap, but they are who decides the USA's president so you can't just ignore them.
ShadowInazumaDigimon Except the Oscars don't have nearly as big of an influence on the animation industry. Would you rather anime produce more Oscar bait like Boss Baby?
Because recognition by the academy, regardless of it being a big circle jerk, brings a lot of attention to the winning and nominated films which means a bigger audience which means more money which means more movies. I want quality animation to win Oscars so they can become more popular and successful so we can see even more quality animation.

It's emotionally wholesome. , And that is what makes it one of the master pieces worthy of the wall of fame ,, cause not many movies , shows , or even Anime hold that kind of power ,, convey that message and get it right it truly is a masterpiece it is funny at times as well as sad and ( I can't stress enough on that ) emotionally wholesome and a group of mixed feelings and emotions ,, it sure feels and hits different that is what makes it a masterpiece ,, and I can't fricking believe boss baby won over it or any in that case ,, that Anime makes you see through many prospectives and that too beautifully ,, not many genres can do that and get it right at a varied audience ,, even if I were to right a book on it that wouldn't do it justice , me being young , you see what a great movie it is that even I understood the deeper meaning and message of it ,,. I rest my case here
@Toptierganon True... They do deserve our appreciation for the hardwork they've put in. But the bigotry of the committee is reflected in the nominations. They prefer something that's close to home and doesn't require much effort to watch.. I can only imagine "I've gotta sit through Boss Baby/ Ferdinand etc cuz my kids want to watch it so why not vote for those I can save some time." Boss Baby didn't have a story that is relevant to all generations. A Silent Voice just offers so much to appreciate from the animation, to the voice acting, to the musical score, to the story. It's something that reflects real problems, is very relevant and gives people hope.
Don't mind me, just watching this again during the Oscars. It has became a yearly tradition at this point for me to watch this video while the ceremony it is ranting about is happening. BTW, still surprised the Oscars didn't at least nominate Demon Slayer when it beat the one and only anime film to earn an Oscar as the highest grossing movie in Japan.
4:09 The lego movie was actually pretty impressive when it comes to lighting. It has insanely realistic lighting, mostly because it used a new lighting technique which was able to capture a lot more detail. Also, everything you see in the movie is an official lego piece
It won't be biased unless you're a Swiss/European film company. Face it, everyone has biases toward things that come from they're culture, language and what is well known. So even if all the people in this new academy come from all over the world, they'll have biases for movies from or about their country/culture of origin. You'll only get true unbias film reviews and nominations when alien film critics come in. And I haven't been seeing any aliens at the moment. (Or maybe a weak movie presence but said countries usually don't have a strong film infrastructure and might not get movies/movies from other cultures.) Besides, it wouldn't guarantee that anime or animated movies would receive the same amount of reverence and respect as live-action films anyway. (Not saying they wouldn't get any, in fact animation might be well respect in this instance. but it might not receive the same or equal respect. And even if it did, who's to say anime or animation in general would be constant winners. It [should] be the best movie that wins and it might be an animated film one year and the next few, live action wins the awards.)
Good idea! Except people who actually give a crap about the Academy Awards will not care about the new institution! People who give a crap about good films NEVER used Academy Awards as a yardstick to begin with :) THAT SAID, a true unbiased institution will be good for Filmmakers internationally! But an unbiased institution is almost impossible!
To be fair it's hard to judge a silent voice when you can't even see it because you are crying the entire film

Anime and Stopmotion are two underrated art forms. It’s sad because they take so much time to make and there creators are so dedicated yet nothing happens because of it.
Oooh, Stop-motion. I remember talking to an artist who had no idea what it is...
Plus since Stop motion movies take a lot of time and budget..they tend to have the best stories since the producers can't afford to let the movies flop after pouring so much hard work into it.
@xxBobbleTeaxx Yeah, I loved their movie Coraline. It's really well made.
When I was a kid that was the only movie that was scary to me, and I'm comparing that to adult horror movies
Anime is shit
The "animation is for kids" argument just doesn'r make any sense to me.
You have this medium that lets you make LITERALLY ANYTHING and you use it to shut your kids up for 2 hours.
Ikr. Legit anime really underrated. I watched some good anime and they made me feel more emotion than a movie about frickin brain cells.
Animation is not a genre, it’s a story telling-medium.
I mean yeah but by that logic so is film, books or really any type of consumable content.
Ultimately it doesn’t matter, the film awards has never been consistent with its logic.
If they were going to allow animation to compete than it should be judged based on its genre.
But alas.

1. Some idol inspires a kid
2. The kid grows up and conventionally meets his idol

4. They get in an argument for whatever reason and separate with the cliche "I was wrong about you" or some shit like that

6. The kid is in trouble but his idol appears out of nowhere and saves him
7. They become friends again to defeat the villain, and again with the cliche "I was wrong about you about being wrong about you" or some shit.
8. The end.

MW Asuraツ ok but that is the plot of My hero acedemia
I feel like the two reasons they don’t choose anime’s is

2. It’s not American

Oof there should be something to crown a best animated Movie
Oscar is bad show.

No, thankfully
Oscars aren’t based on talent, it’s based on how much money film companies can give to the critics
I'm pretty sure Roger Ebert told them to go fuck themselves because he's a true arteur critic

The Oscars also hate sci-fi. No one sane would argue against that.
Horrors and comedies also are very unlikely to win. And I can understand why.
Sci-fi back then was seen as a niche taste and part of geek culture which wasn't too mainstream and now sci-fi films usually rely on nostalgia factors and action scenes to get anywhere with some exceptions. (Usually cyberpunk movies [In my observation] are taken more seriously than other sci-fi films.)
Horror relies too much on shock value and gruesome violence.
@@aidans4464
I see your point. Live action horror specifically in the states does rely on this shock value formula which gives no rewards. I can't really say much on anime horror since I haven't seen much of it but I can believe it but are those properties you described above anime movies or series, if they're series then they are ineligible for oscars.
@@marrqi7wini54 Yeah, anime horror TV shows aren't eligible for Oscars. But I just wanted to explain that anime horror is better. But seriously, go watch those shows I mentioned.
@@aidans4464
I think they're better because of time. (Assuming each episode is 20 min and each season is 20 episodes.)
But thanks for the selection, I'll definitely consider.

Why do people even care about the Oscars?
because its the biggest academy award out there.

4:09 The lego movie was actually pretty impressive when it comes to lighting. It has insanely realistic lighting, mostly because it used a new lighting technique which was able to capture a lot more detail. Also, everything you see in the movie is an official lego piece
I agree, which makes it being robbed of that Oscar all the more annoying
Almost there are some custom Lego stuff for just the movie
I think that was Jeoffs point is that it did look fantastic and was snubbed.
It got artistic but doesn't hit me on the story telling
Here's an idea: What about setting up another film award institution somewhere that won't be biased, like Switzerland.
(Or maybe a weak movie presence but said countries usually don't have a strong film infrastructure and might not get movies/movies from other cultures.)
Besides, it wouldn't guarantee that anime or animated movies would receive the same amount of reverence and respect as live-action films anyway. (Not saying they wouldn't get any, in fact animation might be well respect in this instance. but it might not receive the same or equal respect. And even if it did, who's to say anime or animation in general would be constant winners. It [should] be the best movie that wins and it might be an animated film one year and the next few, live action wins the awards.)
i don't know if this is a joke about switzerland being neutral or not
Good idea! Except people who actually give a crap about the Academy Awards will not care about the new institution! People who give a crap about good films NEVER used Academy Awards as a yardstick to begin with :) THAT SAID, a true unbiased institution will be good for Filmmakers internationally! But an unbiased institution is almost impossible!
your biased too
the most neutral place is antartica :v
Silent voice:Is an emotional and amazing film the teaches somewhat of a lesson
Boss baby:ᖴᗩᖇt ᖴᗩᖴt
Oscars:hell yeah boss baby is obviously the best
Haha toilet humour is so funny haha 🙄
Baby boss didn't win tho, but A silent voice & Coco should've been the best contender for oscar in 2017
