Thanks Rama. We were duped back in the day on pumps and injectors thinking they were just a good deal. We realised before they were installed and went genuine. I'm guessing the injector knock off market is still going strong too.
I have gotten duped twice! I didn’t do a thorough inspection. I seen the stamp on the outside and thought I was good. The first one failed and I didn’t even have 75 miles on it. The second one I ordered came with all of the terminal packaging that you said doesn’t come with a real Bosch 044. It’s still running, but has only been on for a week and is pretty loud while it’s running. Guess I will look to buy from a trusted source
I'd like to see them cut open. I remember we cut open a genuine oil filter once and compared to a Ryco filter at half the price and the quality of the Ryco was instantly recognisable compared to the paper filter in the genuine!
Interesting but you have to have a second one to compare to. The average guy with one pump won't be able to tell if its legit or not. Also, this appears to be model specific and this information will be of little value when someone is looking at a different model pump.
A mate ended up with a fake 044 a couple of years back. It failed after about 20 hours use with E85 but it was noisy from the start. It performed apparently "OK" until it failed but there was never any real read on if it was producing the flow it should have under load. It kept up with the engines fuel demand as the pressure stayed in regulation but that is all we can say.
Thank you, thanks to videos like this I was able to quickly discern real from fake when ebay shopping

The 044 is priced 350-400 dollars in 2022. Thanks for the video.
you should do a noise test-- which is louder???
Thank you. A very important video. I am very concerned about this problem.
been running fake one's for years with no problems yet

Hi, friend.
Do all Bosch products have to have that little gold sticker? Do you know the Oscaro website?
Great info! Thanks :)

How does the fake one perform?
