    I’ve got the same radio/antenna setup in my truck. On a good day of skip I’m talking up into Maine from Georgia. Great radio and a wicked good antenna!

    I have the same setup. But I'm in a condo so the antenna is out on the deck, sitting on an old air conditioner turned on it's side for a little more height. I also have an RM Italy KL-503 amp to help me get out there into skip land.

    Great to see that Stryker is doing well long-term. I've got two of those mirror mounted on my big rig (same antenna, minus the mount), couldn't be happier. Upgraded the coax and ran ground straps. SWR indeed is low even with my modded CB. Passed through St Louis one day and made contact with people in Georgia and Tennessee. They've held up well against extreme heat in Arizona and winter weather along I-80 in Wyoming for a few years now with no problems. Safe to say I think you'll find that this antenna's a keeper for sure!
    Ps. Regarding the light on the inside.. I run a beefed-up Galaxy DX979. The more power you run, the brighter that light gets. I deadkey about 10w with a 35w swing and they shine nice and bright at night when keying up. Not a gimmick if it looks cool! 👍

My antenna has no spring at the bottom of it, just a solid 6" inch steel base to minimize antenna bend while driving down the freeway at 70 mph in my car.

    I watched your Tram 3500 range test of 18 miles and was so impressed I bought a couple..... I kind of figured you found that to be one of the best and I value your opinion and testing..... that video is 6 years old I believe ... I just watched your Stryker ar10 video and this follow up part two.... it sounds like you love this antenna and regard it as one of the best.... I wished I had seen this before your Tram 3500 video.... I think I would have gotten the stryker..... then again the 18 mile video was real proof of how it did.... I was hoping you would range test the Stryker ar10 so people could compare it??? maybe someday????

    I have one but haven't put it through any mobile use yet, its a noisy antenna compared to the quiet desktop UK moonraker antenna I use for my scanners, and of course the Remtronix ducky; the best ducky out of all other antennas for trunking systems. I stick it out the window from the 2nd floor and yep its got gain, pulls in signals, but a lot of noise floor with it. its been up in the attic and one day the connector just fell off from switching it between radios, same as a few other antennas with lousy connections or soldering. The mainstay antenna I use is the Sirio 2016 base antenna for the RCI 2995 DXCF. I have it up on a 15 foot mast and also works great across some HF bands with SDR, but not for transmitting. Here in California its worked Australia, Canada, coast to coast, NE & NW, SE & SW corners. I have zero SWR, barely bumps the needle on the Sirio, across channels 1-40. I must have dropped the top element right on channel 20, the SWR only begins to climb outside of 11 meters, so there's nothing wrong with my SWR meter and it could be centered on 10 or 12 meters. When I get my planned mobile rig(s), I'd probably stealth the antennas or keep one in the trunk (maybe the A10) for mountain spots or contacts from hill ridgelines and such.. Nice dash installation. Just need those clear hinged plexi covers or membrane to keep the dust out.

    I use the same Stryker SR-A10 antenna, but I used it with a Wilson 5000 through roof mount. It screws right on. I believe it's has same exact insides as a Wilson 5000. They both perform exactly the same on my mobile and look the same on the antenna analyzer. Overall I'd say it's a good antenna, but it's basically the same antenna as the Wilson 5000. I'm running 750 watts through it and it does just fine. I've talked skip all over with it.

      @FarpointFarms  3 года назад +2

      Like I said in the video The Tram 3000, The K40, and The Wilson 5000 are all made at the same plant. They all work well, and all work about as good as this SR-A10. It comes down to the bells and whistles, and this one is kind of cool with the look, and the light.

    Question!!! What do you mean? The DX’ing is not the best as it is not a base mount antenna. Do you just mean normal talking on the radio is maybe not the best? I’m not sure what the Dx’ing means. I’m still learning radios. I simply know the general basics. We do dump trucking. And of course have Cbs in all the dump trucks but I recently put one of these onto my personal vehicles as if I myself am not in a truck I can talk to my guys on the job site.

    I'm aware of CBs but have never installed or tuned one (I'm in my 60s). I just found your channel and you may have covered this in previous videos but I'll ask. Are all antennas tunable or should I make sure the one I get is tunable. If the CB has an SWR built in does it work exactly like a separate SWR box? ( SWR boxes have a gain knob and a FWR/REF switch but I'm not sure CBs have that). Have CBs advanced to the point where they have a privacy function (I can't think of the correct term) like Walkie Talkies. Some Walkie Talkies have a scramble/encoding type function on the signal for a little more privacy. While I have you ear I'll relay a funny story from the 70's when CB was big. My brother-in-law was installing a CB in his truck. Got it wired up and working in the back yard of my parents house talking to my father's radio. Went down the road a way and nothing worked. Came back to the house and the radio worked. Went back down the road and nothing. Come to find out he had wired his radio to the wiring that supplied power to his inside light. His radio only worked when the door was open. We all got a good laugh on that. Thanks for posting and I've subscribed and will be catching up on your videos.
