For people who are use to a certain standard of life, then have the bank account dry up, that's often a deal breaker. But these two cling to each other even through the pauper stages - o, yeah, that's REAL love.
*Let’s be real, almost all stars back in the day were shorted earnings heavily during their careers. Talent was so real and pure. Now there really isn’t any talent and they get paid hefty. This is sad.*
Yep, you're absolutely right, they cared MORE about the talent than the image back then, but now they care MORE about the image than the talent which is REALLY😢💯
Financial strains is one of the leading causes of marriages breaking up. Hats off to this couple for weathering the storm, and staying together. I'm sure it wasn't easy.
I wouldn't even say it's financial strain I'd say it's just lack of communication about finances, wealthy couples divorcing left right and centre while people who are less financially well off might actually tend to stick it out together because they have to and separating would make them fnancially much worse off
Shanice have one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen on a person. She should have been so much bigger both beauty and talent. I remember on her reality show Babyface stated between her mother and manager they kept her career going further.
That was so great of Martin Lawrence and his wife ( at the time) to help them out. I remember when they tried to have a reality show but after a couple episodes it was cancelled.
Despite the trials & tribulations Shanice kept her head up. I love how she & Flex met…organically. I’m also glad that they both weathered the storms together. Much respect to their friends for looking out too.
Smile is always gonna be in anyone's 90s playlist. It's For You is another favorite banger too from the Meteor Man soundtrack. Glad she and her family are doing well. High five to her and Flex.
She also recorded "If I Never Knew You", a duet with Jon Secada, which appeared in the end credits of the 1995 Disney animated film "Pocahontas", and she contributed background vocals to Toni Braxton's 1996 hit "Un-Break My Heart". She was dropped from LaFace after her 1999 self-titled album because she was uncomfortable with showing skin in the album's music videos, which many female urban artists of the time were doing in theirs.
The music industry needs to be regulated because so many artists like Shanice make the record company millions but end up with next to nothing and discarded all too often. The records contracts that many artists sign be so one sided beyond belief.
While I wholeheartedly agree, I must add that it should have always been regulated but due to greed and dishonesty and blatant disregard and disrespect for fellow humans, it and other industries with inevitably always be corrupt.
But the artists decide to sign the contract, no one makes them. It's a free market essentially. How much you earn and how you earn it is something you/your representation agrees to.
@@creating1_c1999 Fame is a drug, many artists have made, still do make, unsound decisions that they later regret while chasing fame. The record labels stay exploiting people and their talents for pennies on the dollar. These records labels are akin to modern day human traffickers.

"When I Close My Eyes" is my favorite song by her and an underrated gem. Yes, it charted highly on the Billboard Hot 100, but that's one song I don't remember ever hearing in my childhood and I NEVER hear it played or mentioned. I actually discovered that entire album from her Unsung episode a few years ago. I didn't even realize her career started way back in 1987, but I will admit when I think about her in her prime, I get a late '80s/early '90s vibe, before even knowing she'd been out that long. Side Note: She was so cute and innocent looking as a young girl. She looks like she would've been a perfect fit for those perm kits with the little girls on them that you see in the hair stores.
"If I Never Knew You" with her and Jon Secada still slaps til this day. Her "Shanice" album is definitely underrated. I was so upset that they didn't release the video for Yesterday. Glad she posted the rough draft on her RUclips
Juicy pop always pops! Keep giving us great mini bios❤👏👏👏👏👏👍All of her music is dope but next to ILYS, I played Forever In Your Love and that Inner Child interlude so many times back then that I lost count. Her voice touches the soul sweetly and gently. Kudos to Shanice for surviving tough times💪🧘
Can't forget she also guest starred in the "Rock Enroll" episode of Family Matters. I was here for it when I saw it on demand and her and Darrius was good😮💨.

Shanice should be a household name. She was part of one of the greatest periods of r&b music around 1986-1995. Sadly, she was mismanaged and suffered some great professional and personal blows but rose above to sustain a solid marriage.
Shanice's self-titled album was released on the same day as C-Murder's sophomore album Bossalinie and Harlem World's first and only album The Movement on March 9th 1999
“I Love Your Smile” perfectly encapsulates 90s music for me…my mom listened to a radio station that regularly played it, and it takes me right back to being a kid❤️
I feel as though Shanice and Michel'le are two of the most underrated singers! With their vocals, style, and presence they should have been as big as Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston (R.I.P.). Thanks for this video. Your documentaries are always great.
